One of the most anticipated parts of each big update to World of Warcraft are new Mounts – the subject of adoration and envy of thousands of players, and let’s be honest, the additional hook to make us spend hours and hours online. In this guide, you will find information about all 46 mounts, which were added in the recent 9.1 patch. The article will be divided into several parts for better and easier navigation.

Major Changes

The new patch represents several changes, which have a crucial influence on gameplay. Now players will be able to call for their ground mounts in the Maw and fly in some zones of Shadowlands.

Flying in Shadowlands

New Mounts In 9.1: Full Guide

Flying in new zones – is what we have been waiting for so long. To soar to the skies you should raise your Renown to level 44 and complete Chapter 3 of the new storyline. You will find the Memories of Sunless Skies item in your inventory right after finishing the quest. Don’t forget to use it – no flying for you otherwise. The flying skill is account-wide, meaning all your alts will be able to fly, even if they are below the cap. Note, however, that this skill works only in four covenant-related zones. You still won’t be able to fly in Oribos, the In-Between, the Maw, and in Korthia.

Riding in the Maw

New Mounts In 9.1: Full Guide

The new patch gives us the ability to use ground mounts inside the Maw territories. This blessing will condescend to us shortly after we enter Korthia for the very first time. The True Maw Walker aura will be cast upon you, letting all your characters use this ability altogether. To be able to ride in the Maw with new alts speak to Highlord Fordragon during the quest The First Move.

Now let us take a closer look at the new mounts. Below you will find all the crucial information about where and how to get them.

Puzzle Mounts

New Mounts In 9.1: Full Guide

The very term has appeared in Legion back in 2017 with the first mount of such sort – Riddler’s Mind-Worm, though the incredible Lucid Nightmare remains the most memorable. Several puzzle mounts had been added ever since. The new 9.1 patch is not an exception; and this time there are four mounts, which players may obtain by doing different actions.

Reins of the Wanderer – despite all the previous speculations, this mount is rather easy to obtain. All you have to do is to find Maelie, the Wanderer for six times, who, well, wanders along the whole Korthia zone, click on her to reassure and talk to Tinybell after that to get the mount. You may interact with Maelie once a day. Note, it changes location every 24 hours.

To obtain Dusklight Razorwing you have to collect 10 Lost Razorwing Eggs in Korthia and bring them to the Razorwing Nest. Farm gorgers, scavengers, and worldeaters to get needed items. You may collect all of them in your inventory since they are not unique; though you may only loot two eggs per day.

Darkmaul likes to eat Tasty Mawshrooms that drop from Invasive Mawshroom in Korthia with rather low chances. You may loot only five different Invasive Mawshrooms each day. Feed Darkmaul with 10 Tasty Mawshrooms and receive a new mount into your collection.

Nilganihmaht Control Ring

New Mounts In 9.1: Full Guide

Nilganihmaht Control Ring. Now, this mount will become a bone in your throat. To get the mount you are to collect five rings. The order does not matter, but it will take quite some time to loot each of them.

Nilganihmaht’s Silver Ring drops from Domination Chest Seal located in The Maw. And to open this treasure you need 4 Seal Breaker Keys.

The first key may be found in Maldraxxi Defectors’ loot. These elite mobs wander along the Desmotaeron in the Maw. The drop chances are very low – less than 5%.

The second key drops from the rare elite Ylva. This will not be a direct drop, however – look for the Feeder’s Hand and Key item in the loot. The drop rate is high, so there should be no long delays with this key.

The third key is located on the far wall to the right in the cave. The coordinates to the cave entrance: 66,9, 56,2 in the Maw. A useful tip: exit combat before looting the item.

The last key waits for its owners in the Helgarde Supply Cache throughout the Desmotaeron. Though the drop chances are rather high, it might take you some time to find these chests, so here are some useful coordinates for you:

/way 63.4 52.0
/way 66.8 64.4 in a cave. Entrance is here: /way 64.8 64.0
/way 65.6 59.4  in a cave. Entrance is here: /way 66.9 56.3
/way 66.2 54.6
/way 62.47 55.28
/way 67.15 51.79
/way 71.0 48.0
/way 64.21 56.74
/way 64.23 53.89
/way 62.28 61.92
/way 64.64 48.70

The best way to search for the chests is to use a Trained Gromit Carrier pet.

Nilganihmaht’s Gold Band hangs on a spike in Crucible of the Damned in the Maw. Your journey starts at /way 18,9, 38,0. This ring will surely require some parkour skills to get to it.  Good luck!

Nilganihmaht’s Signet Ring drops from Exos, Herald of Domination with low chances. You will not find the guy that easy, however. To summon Exos you need to collect items from three other rare mobs, each of which needs four players to be summoned. This is what you will need:

Dominion Etching: Pain from Talaporas, Herald of Pain;

Dominion Etching: Grief from Ekphoras, Herald of Grief;

Dominion Etching: Loss from Apholeias, Herald of Loss.

All three items have more than a 50% drop rate.

Nilganihmaht’s Runed Band drops from Torglluun with about 60% chances. This rare is located in the Maw in a Rift phase; use Repaired Riftkey to get there. A tip for the Engineers: the usage of the Wormhole Generator will save you lots of time. A tip for other professions: walk to The Maw and use Cypher of Relocation it will still save you a lot of time.

To get Nilganihmaht’s Stone Ring you should collect 4 lesser rings (all called Quartered Ancient Ring), but only when the Necrolord Assault encounter is active.

So, this is what you will have to do.

Find one of the rings in this concrete Mawsworn Cache. Coordinates: /way 35, 69 .

Another ring spawns randomly on the ground near Perdition Hold. They do despawn after a couple of minutes and move location, so watch carefully.

Then. Finish the Putting A Plan Together quest, create the Overcharged Centurion and mount it. Now go ahead and jump onto the walls of Perdition Hold to gather all the Mawsworn Caches you would not be able to loot otherwise. Keep looting the chests until you find a Defense Map – the item that starts the Clearing the Walls quest. Make sure you have completed this quest before the Necrolord Assault is over.

The last but not the least ring is dropped by the Maw Mad Construct. He will yell and run away from you. Only those, who have at least one Quartered Ancient Ring will be able to see this creature. An estimated respawn time is 5-30 minutes. A note: this guy is really fast!

When you are finished with collecting all four Quartered Ancient Rings, take them to  Zovaal’s Cauldron /way 39, 40. Use the Soulsteel Forge there to combine the pieces.

When you will gather all five major rings, go back to a cave in the Rift Phase (the cave entrance coordinates 25.48 32.53) and find the Hand of Nilganihmaht. Put on it all five rings and finally receive the cherished mount.

Well done, congratulations!
