The Unbinding of Kith'ix is a single-boss raid arriving with the Midnight 12.1.5 content update on October 13. You fight Kith'ix with Lady Liadrin at your side across two phases, in Story Mode, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties.

What is the Unbinding of Kith'ix?

Kith'ix was bound in his subterranean lair beneath the Venomous Abyss, and Ula'tek's defeat weakened the restraints that kept him at bay. The raid is the finale of the Midnight saga's Quel'Thalas and Zul'Aman storyline, and it follows the "Promise of Tomorrow" campaign. Kith'ix is a C'Thraxxi general, the Amani's ancient foe.

Kith'ix mechanics: what happens in the fight

Kith'ix calls on his Voidswarm to fight alongside him while assaulting players with dark magic. At 100 energy he attempts to smother the raid with Suffocating Darkness, and Lady Liadrin holds the darkness back while gathering power to banish it with Divine Radiance. At 25% health, Kith'ix stuns players with Stygian Howl and Liadrin rescues them with Last Light, starting a race to kill him before his Eightfold Eclipse snuffs out Liadrin's Light. Plan your cooldowns and damage for that final burn, because the encounter ends on Liadrin's survival rather than yours alone.

Difficulties and group size

The raid offers Story Mode, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties. On Mythic, Kith'ix scales to a flexible group of 15–25 players. Raid testing on the PTR ran Heroic and Mythic versions of the encounter on September 16.

Kith'ix loot and rewards

Kith'ix drops unique cantrip items, and on Mythic difficulty those items drop at Myth 9/6. The cantrip drops follow the same pattern as venomcursed loot. If you want the raid's gear without organising the pull yourself, a Midnight Heroic Raid and Mythic+ Dungeon run hands the encounter and the loot rolls to someone else.

Getting to the raid and testing details

During PTR testing you could speak to Nexus-Lord Donjon Rade in Silvermoon City, Orgrimmar, or Stormwind to teleport into the raid zone while it was open. Players were scaled to level 90 and to an item level appropriate for the encounter being tested. Testing sessions usually ran around an hour per encounter.
