The design philosophy behind that work is to keep class identities separate and prevent homogenization, with keeping classes feeling distinct being what matters most. Class abilities and talents may keep changing through the beta test.

How talents work

Talents open at level 10 and keep the familiar structure, with milestone talents costing one point at 11, 21 and 31 points, plus a new 16-point milestone. Changing talents, Legacy talents included, means visiting a class trainer in a major city, and Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40.

Priest deep dive

Priests keep their three paths of Discipline, Holy and Shadow and their role as a versatile spellcaster, with updates that expand the toolkit rather than replace it.

Fear Ward and Devouring Plague are now available to every Priest at level 20 regardless of race, Divine Spirit is baseline at level 30, and Shadow Word: Death becomes a baseline ability at level 32.

Priest racial abilities

Each Priest race has two unique spells, all re-evaluated, with new ones added for Gnomes.

Gnome: Confounding Flash is learned at level 10, confusing up to 5 nearby enemies for 3 seconds with a 0.5 second cast and a 2-minute cooldown, and Contingency Plan is learned at level 20, warding a friendly target for 30 seconds and triggering an absorb shield plus a heal-over-time if their health drops below 35%.

Night Elf: Starshards stays at level 10 with substantially increased damage and a new 30 second cooldown, while Elune's Grace stays at level 20 and now cuts the chance for melee and ranged attacks to hit the Priest by 50% for 15 seconds or until 3 attacks miss.

Troll: Hex of Weakness and Shadowguard are unchanged, and Improved Mana Burn increases the cast-time reduction on Mana Burn.

Priest talents

Penance: A new gold medal talent at 21 points, channeled over 2 seconds with a 12 second cooldown, dealing damage every second to enemies or healing every second on allies.

Renewed Hope: A new talent requiring Soul Warding that raises the critical strike chance of Flash Heal, Binding Heal, Lesser Heal, Heal, Greater Heal and Penance on targets with Weakened Soul, and each of those heals shortens Weakened Soul.

Divine Aegis: Critical heals create a non-stacking absorb shield for 12 seconds based on a percentage of the amount healed.

Prayer of Mending: A new 31-point gold medal Holy talent requiring Spirit of Redemption, with a 10 second cooldown, a 30 second duration, and jumps to nearby party or raid members within 20 yards until it has healed 5 times.

Vampiric Embrace: Moved to row 3 as the 16-point gold medal Shadow talent, now lasting 30 seconds with a 1-minute cooldown.

Shadowform: Now lets all non-healing spells be cast in Shadowform, cuts the mana cost of all Shadow spells by 50%, and increases the critical strike damage bonus of Shadow spells by 100%, with a decreased bonus to Shadow damage dealt.

Unbreakable Will has been folded into Silent Resolve, Improved Power Word: Fortitude and Divine Spirit are baseline, and Force of Will is gone. Improved Prayer of Healing and Lightwell are removed from Holy, and Improved Vampiric Embrace is removed from Shadow.

Priests remain the most versatile healer, able to run both heal-over-time and direct heals while bringing damage absorption shields no other healer has. Their weaknesses are cloth armor and few ways to escape, so they lean on allies with tanking or control tools while making those allies stronger through buffs and healing. As Shadow they deal heavy damage over time but lack the full utility a class like the Warlock brings.

Warrior deep dive

Warriors keep their front-line role as durable, hard-hitting combatants, with updates that make Rage more reliable, move utility to baseline and sharpen what each specialization does.

Rage from taking damage keeps the original formula but now ignores Armor, calculated using appropriate values per level in the 20% to 40% range, and it also ignores damage absorption effects, so Power Word: Shield no longer reduces Rage gained. Rage from dealing damage is fully normalized around weapon speed, and critical strikes now give 100% more Rage than non-critical strikes.

Tactical Mastery is learned at level 14 and keeps 10 Rage when changing stances, improvable with Arms talents. Victory Rush is learned at level 20 as a 30-second cooldown instant attack that heals for 10% of maximum health and activates for 20 seconds after killing a non-trivial enemy. Recklessness no longer shares a cooldown with Shield Wall and Retaliation.

Warrior talents

Spearing Strike: A new 16-point gold medal talent, an instant attack for 15 Rage with a 20 second cooldown that dismounts the target, with doubled damage against mounted targets, Dragons or Giants.

Bloodthrill: A new row 5 talent giving main-hand attacks on Rend-afflicted enemies a chance to activate Overpower for 6 seconds.

Weaponmaster: A new row 5 talent that combines all weapon specialization talents into one, granting increased critical strike chance with Axes and Polearms, armor ignore with Maces and Staves, and a chance at an extra melee autoattack with Swords.

Improved Slam: Moved from Fury to row 6 of Arms and redesigned to 2 points, reducing Slam's cooldown, global cooldown and cast time and stopping Slam from delaying or interrupting melee autoattacks.

Booming Voice: No longer modifies Shout durations, which are now baseline.

Iron Will: Moved to row 1 of Protection and now reduces Stun duration instead of raising resistance.

Unbridled Rage: Chance increased.

Raging Blows: Now reduces the Rage cost of Cleave and Whirlwind by 3.

Blood Craze: Now also triggers from attacks dealing more than 20% of maximum health in one hit.

Axe, Mace, Sword and Polearm Specialization are all removed and folded into Weaponmaster. Improved Shield Block and Improved Taunt are now baseline, and One-Handed Weapon Specialization is removed.

Warriors stay the masters of melee, dealing and mitigating damage, with a sustained multi-target melee strength no other melee class has. Their gap is recovering from heavy damage, and they supply unique buffs and debuffs that make them welcome as tank or damage dealer.

Design philosophy

The team's overall approach is to keep class identities separate and prevent homogenization, and they want no spec to feel unplayable or useless. Not every spec needs to be the best pick for every encounter, but there should be reasons to bring a spec to certain content.

The beta is the largest they have run by player participation, and they are still polishing details from feedback. The level cap is currently 30, and they are watching how the camping system lands past that level. On gear, horizontal progression means expanding the world sideways with new professions, zones, dungeons, raids and quests, while power escalation continues at as low a jump as possible, and best-in-slot gear could come from an earlier raid tier before eventually being replaced.

Dungeon quest XP was recently nerfed and mob XP increased, since the team wants players out in the world rather than leveling 1 to 60 only through dungeons.

The anti-meta, non-homogenized class design that puts class feel ahead of strict balance is appreciated by many players. Warlocks look very strong in WoW Forever to many players, with DoT crits and the removal of the debuff limit cited as reasons, and one player put it plainly: "As a lock main all throughout classic, I think we are going to be super OP." The deep dive format and the developers' open communication are valued by most players and should continue. Shaman tanking as a fourth tank spec is something some players want supported.

If you want the dungeon side of the beta handled for you, our team can run the WoW Forever Blackrock Depths Boost on your account. The other class deep dives follow the same pattern of baseline changes and talent reworks, as in the Rogue and Warlock deep dive.

The WoW Forever class deep dive for Priest and Warrior keeps each class recognizable while widening the choices inside it.

[1460,3,81
1547

127
post-42557","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-wow-forever","category-all","category-epiccarry-game-news","tag-wow-forever-class-deep-dive","author-dina

No. Class abilities and talents may continue to evolve throughout the beta test and are subject to further changes.

What is the current level cap in the beta?

The level cap is currently 30.

The WoW Forever class deep dive for Priest and Warrior keeps each class recognizable while widening the choices inside it.
"url2x":"https://epiccarry.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Dina-avatar.webp"},"0":null,"1":"","2":"","3":"","4":"","5":"","6":"","7":"","8":"
["GET
