The City Never Sleeps update was the largest recent change, introducing a new map design and six heroes added individually via player voting.

Deadlock Hero Tier List

Tier

Heroes

S

Graves, Paige, Nurse, Haze, Rat King

A

Ivy, Kelvin, Victor (ranked S–B), Violet, Dynamo, Infernus, Lady Geist, Mo & Krill, Seven (ranked S–D), Vindicta, Wraith, Celeste, Drifter, Baba

B

Abrams, Bebop (ranked S–C), Lash, Yamato (ranked S–C), Apollo, Venator (ranked A–C), Grey Talon (ranked A–C), Mirage (ranked S–D), Pocket (ranked S–D), Billy, Calico, Holliday, Mina, Rem, Vyper

C

McGinnis, Paradox (ranked A–D), Silver (ranked B–D), Sinclair, Shiv (ranked B–D), Viscous (ranked B–D), Danny, The Doorman, Solomon

D

Warden

Of the 41 heroes two or more of the 3 rankings combined here place, 5 hold the same tier in each of them; 12 are two or more tiers apart.

S Tier

Graves

Graves controls large areas without putting herself in danger, which generates reliable pressure in any fight or contest. Her main weakness is a weak early game, so she needs time to scale before she comes online. She has settled near the top again after surviving repeated nerfs and buffs, making her one of the strongest general-purpose choices available. She also shines most in lower ranks, and buying Duration Extender before minute nine separates her winners from the rest.

Paige

Paige used to be split between damage and support without excelling at either, but recent buffs got her to a point where her utility no longer costs her effectiveness. Her capacity to help allies and sway major battles secures her a stable position in the current meta. She is the more secure support-oriented pick and thrives at a distance, shielding and enabling allies while retaining sufficient damage and crowd control to seize a fight herself when she invests in damage. Game length does not change much for her, so her item choices matter more than her scaling.

Nurse

Nurse Harrow is a healer support whose tags suggest a more punishing hero than the typical healer, demanding more from the player. She is expected to be overtuned on healing, with a left click that can heal through an ability. She is one of the six heroes added in the City Never Sleeps update, released through community voting.

Haze

Haze destroys teams that allow her time to farm and then cluster poorly enough for Bullet Dance to wipe them out, but such circumstances are rarely met. Many matches pass with her contributing nothing, and getting behind is fatal. In the latest patch, she ranks among the top assassins, heavily punishing heroes with no mobility and backline players in the current map layout. Buying Weakening Headshot before minute nine is the item that pays off most for her.

Rat King

Rat King aims to end the game quickly and weakens as it extends, and he performs best at lower ranks where skilled players counter him more readily. He is a durable front-line fighter who removes Bullet Resist and absorbs damage behind his scrap armor. He is also the most picked hero in the game, fitting almost any team composition. Because he is still very new, his statistics will fluctuate until additional matches are played.

A Tier

These heroes are strong and reliable in most games, just a step below the very best, and several of them need the right build or team to reach their ceiling.

Ivy

Ivy combines offensive pressure with sufficient utility to rescue allies, initiate engagements, and make contributions even when she is far behind on resources. She remains effective while losing and turns borderline oppressive when even or ahead, so she effectively scales with the skill of her teammates. Week after week her win rate holds steady without big swings, which places her among the most reliable marksman picks in every rank bracket.

Kelvin

Kelvin is an excellent all-purpose brawler, as his slows and healing are useful whether he is ahead or behind. Ice Path grants him ways to start engagements and reach teamfights that are beyond any other character's reach, which pushes players to consider Deadlock in three dimensions. Learning him takes a while, yet once his playstyle becomes second nature, he is simply excellent. He has one of the lowest pick rates of any high-performing hero, which makes him a smart pick for his performance level.

Victor

Victor's healing and his capacity to remain alive through long fights turn him into a menace when enemies do not time their damage and disengages together. With almost no assistance or preparation, he is able to dominate matches at lower and middle skill levels, although better teams are far more capable of preventing this. He does not fill the hyper carry role, since he cannot frontline as well as the actual tanks or carry as well as the actual carries. He wins most at low ranks and drops at high rank, so part of his spot is how hard he is to answer for newer players.

Violet

Violet is a hybrid character who uses some gun items and has Surge of Power in her build, so she could play like a Wraith-type or a Mina-type character while still shooting her gun. She is described as the least visually interesting of the new cast, though the flexibility of an artist character is exciting.

Dynamo

When his allies are prepared to follow up, Dynamo can determine the outcome of whole teamfights using Quantum Entanglement and Singularity, and his sustain ensures he remains useful in between those engagements. At the highest levels of the ladder, he is especially strong, yet he remains valuable in all other ranks. Considering the real influence he has on the team, his low selection rate means he is greatly underappreciated. He is one of the heroes who improves at higher levels of play, where coordinated setup matters more.

Infernus

Once Infernus has sufficient resources and is able to remain on a target, he deals outstanding sustained damage, especially during extended fights where Afterburn continues to deal damage over time. The challenge is reaching that point reliably, as matches in which he is starved of farm or pulled into major fights too soon cause him to fall behind, and when behind he is far less effective. He is consistently popular with a high pick rate, though his win rate barely clears the game's average. He likes open ground fights, where he can proc Afterburn and then close gaps with Flame Dash.

Lady Geist

Lady Geist is quite durable and can still deal significant damage, but the bomb-focused style of play that makes her enjoyable is not sufficiently effective. More sensible builds place her in direct competition with heroes that perform everything she can, only more effectively. She is holding her spot by the thinnest possible margin, and one more bad week could drop her.

Mo & Krill

Mo & Krill have the ability to start fights, break up enemy backlines, endure long battles, and hold one opponent in place so allies can secure the kill. This duo excels in team battles, yet that power relies heavily on teammates capitalizing on their plays. They work best in coordinated team environments and fall apart in solo queue settings. Mo received an unlisted improvement, as he is now able to enter the vents simply by crouching rather than activating Burrow.

Seven

Seven currently ranks among the top heroes and is about as versatile as possible, with strong farming, scaling, space control, and enough damage output to free your attention for more than just your own hero. Lightning Ball enables him to farm very effectively and control areas simultaneously, whereas Power Surge provides his weapon with high Spirit scaling. He does not have to win his lane or reach certain item thresholds to be valuable in the later stages, and this consistency maintains his position near the top at all skill levels. His power increases as the match continues, and successful Seven players purchase Mystic Vulnerability prior to the nine-minute mark.

Vindicta

Vindicta requires more aiming skill than any other hero in the game, and this will remain true for the foreseeable future. Her flight provides angles that other marksmen struggle to copy, and Assassinate converts a minor edge into a kill at long distance, yet failing those shots eliminates nearly all justification for choosing her. She can look like a top pick in the right hands and bottom of the list if the player just does not have aim. When the team composition fits, she works nicely alongside Dynamo and Infernus, and her viability is borderline based on the draft.

Wraith

Wraith continues to eliminate lone targets very fast, and Project Mind provides the movement needed to capitalize on errors before the opposing team can react. In higher-level matches, she is particularly common, since improved accuracy and target choice make an instant kill far more impactful. Even though she is not quite reliable enough for the highest tier, she remains a well-liked selection. She benefited from the patch, since her cards are now way better at tracking and she is an insane jungler in a map with so much jungle.

Celeste

Celeste ranks among the game's most skill-reliant heroes, and once a player can comfortably manage her positioning and ability cycles, her burst and disruption become significantly tougher to handle. Picking her up and doing fine with her is not difficult, but the ceiling is sky-high. Her strongest abilities were recently weakened, making her less lenient, but the core of what makes her so threatening offensively was left intact. She got a lot weaker on the new map, since she likes using buildings for movement tech and there is now less cover to work with.

Drifter

Drifter stays a threat due to having both the movement to chase down exposed enemies and sufficient damage to finish them off when he reaches them. His kit promotes relentless aggression and rotations, granting ample freedom to move around the map in search of opportunities. He struggles far more when facing a team that prevents isolated fights and forces him into standard front-to-back teamfights. His individual carry potential keeps him relevant.

Baba

Baba takes Spirit Power from her foes and converts it into extra damage on each bullet. She is a debuffer support centered on mid-range debuffing to enable allies, and can additionally create damaging zones using her pigeons to reduce enemy safe zones. Like Rat King, she is experiencing the same new-hero fluctuations, as she is also very new. Currently, she has the game's lowest win rate among all heroes, with no previous patch data for comparison.

B Tier

These heroes are solid options that work well in the right compositions or hands, but they have clear conditions or counterplay that keep them out of the top tiers.

Abrams

Abrams soaks up a lot of pressure and punishes anyone who allows him to get close, particularly near walls and tight spaces where Shoulder Charge can pin people against terrain. Unfortunately, he is quite easily kited and kept at range, and his abilities are telegraphed enough that parrying them is not much of a challenge. The reworked access to jungle camps on the new map fits his roaming playstyle perfectly, and he clears those camps extremely quickly. It is harder to hit charges on the new map, which is his one downside in the patch.

Bebop

There will always be matches for Bebop in which a single successful hook decides the outcome, particularly if enemies continue to walk into them voluntarily. That dependence is his greatest flaw as well, as he provides almost nothing else, and he must land the pick to contribute anything. He is picked too often, a prime illustration of a hero that the community adores but that statistics do not support.

Lash

Grapple gives Lash exceptional freedom to drop into fights from above, and Ground Strike and Death Slam reward players who learn exactly how much his movement lets them get away with. In skilled hands he becomes more and more irritating, and he is among the most frequently chosen heroes in high-level play, but an unskilled Lash may waste an extraordinary amount of time soaring about without achieving anything. He got hard movement nerfed on the new map, since there are way fewer points where he can sit and slam from the high ground. He is among the most frequently played assassins in the game and remains a steady danger at every rank bracket.

Yamato

Yamato's high mechanical requirements are what enable her to dive onto weak enemies and endure scenarios where other heroes would have to pull back. With Shadow Transformation, she can make very aggressive moves, but her room for mistakes is one of the tightest in the game. She is a hard counter to Vindicta, but that advantage is not enough to carry her overall, and this patch removed her edge entirely. For her short-term ranking, two straight weeks of falling is a significant warning sign.

Apollo

At lower levels, Apollo's aggressive and intuitive style is attractive because simply closing the distance and engaging often produces value by itself. Stronger opponents manage his entry and make him pay for those dives, so his impact drops off clearly as the competition improves. He loves being in the open, and with less cover on the new map, opponents have less room to dodge his Flawless Advance. He is the most likely hero in his tier to cross over with any improvement.

Venator

When the player consistently hits shots, Venator punishes bad positioning and applies significant pressure, but right now his overall output is too unreliable. Since other ranged heroes provide similar danger with fewer requirements, he is mostly left to those who particularly like his playstyle. He has the highest pick rate in his tier, with overall hero presence even higher, and a stable trend with no significant weekly movement.

Grey Talon

Grey Talon still possesses massive Charged Shots and sometimes snowballs via Guided Owl, but his core strategy has grown harder and harder to pull off in the current meta. The distances and positions he prefers to fight from have been surpassed by the game's mobility creep. The issues he faces seem rooted in design rather than numbers, so a minor rework would likely serve him better than yet another buff. Despite a low selection rate, loyal players continue to have trouble achieving steady victories with him.

Mirage

Mirage gains worldwide movement from Traveler, control from Dust Devil, and an unconventional damage path from Djinn's Mark, yet these elements fail to form a unified hero. His abilities seem to conflict with each other, and his present results place him at the lowest tier of the roster. He is the best kiter in the game and suits a meta of long sight lines and open ground, making him meta-defining if you know how to play him. Lower-rank players struggle with him because they do not use the teleport properly.

Pocket

Pocket offers significant mechanical complexity, but the payoff for perfecting Flying Cloak, Enchanter's Satchel, and Affliction is simply not sufficient. Skilled Pocket users pull off great dives and escapes, but right now the hero requires excessive execution for outcomes that more powerful assassins achieve far more consistently. Affliction remains too strong, he is unkillable, he enters and exits without cost, and he deals absurd damage while also being very durable in lane.

Billy

When opponents repeatedly allow Billy to engage in simple short-distance battles, he destroys them completely. In Deadlock, he excels against weaker competition and is among the top stompers in casual matches, but skilled opponents avoid his fights by kiting and parrying him. Take those easy openings away, and there is not much character left. An early-patch advantage from map updates has completely disappeared, so he requires either a new build strategy or a direct enhancement to halt his decline.

Calico

Calico possesses the agility and damage output to reach and eliminate exposed enemies, as well as the means to escape afterwards. She performs adequately but never dominates, and her damage and durability simply fall short of the superior assassins. Her selection rate is dropping together with her success rate, which is among the most concerning downward patterns in her category.

Holliday

Through Crackshot, Powder Keg, and Spirit Lasso, Holliday can still pull off great plays, but she requires high mechanical skill and does not provide sufficient reliability in exchange. Players who main Holliday can certainly make her appear stronger than her tier suggests. She got worse on the new map, since she likes using geometry to extend her jumps and get in and out fast with the jump pads. Her win rate is consistent across multiple sites, and she does not carry games single-handedly but does not throw them either.

Mina

After receiving sufficient nerfs throughout her kit, Mina now has difficulty regardless of whether the player focuses on her gun or her Spirit abilities. She remains fun due to her mobility, and Rake provides significant kill pressure, yet she seldom seems like the optimal choice for any specific team requirement. Matchup data shows she beats Vindicta cleanly, and a push into the next tier is realistic if that continues.

Rem

Rem offers healing and helpful support for allies, but compared to more powerful support heroes, her capacity to control the course of a fight is restricted. In games where the rest of the team is not already set up to take advantage of her assistance, she ends up contributing almost nothing. Her kit is enjoyed by players, but that popularity is not being turned into victories, a regular instance of a hero being selected more often than her real power warrants.

Vyper

Vyper is a reliable choice in nearly all situations, merging outstanding mobility with continuous gun pressure and the capacity to eliminate anyone attempting to flee. Slither renders her exceptionally difficult to lock down, whereas Petrifying Bola either guarantees a kill or entirely wastes one, based on how effectively you apply it. She is a reasonable choice in all situations, but more skilled players can gain significantly more from her movement and skill timing. She has one of the lowest pick rates of any assassin in the game and needs specific matchup conditions to get real value.

C Tier

These heroes are niche or below the meta average, needing specific setups, matchups or a dedicated main to shine.

McGinnis

After multiple cuts to Mini Turrets and Heavy Barrage, McGinnis has become less valuable for higher-skilled players, and both her pick rate and performance have declined significantly. She is still performing better overall than most of her tier, however. She excels at split pushing and maintaining lane control, yet her map traversal is quite slow. She has an extremely small player base and is a very niche pick.

Paradox

Paradox can secure strong picks using Kinetic Carbine, Time Wall, and Paradoxical Swap, but the required setup leads to inconsistency. At no stage in a match is she completely without use, but pulling off her playstyle can be hard even when ahead. She was always the character who walks in, lands a Carbine and swaps, and her swap range is very high compared to Lasso, making her the best catch character unless you count Bebop. In today's fast-paced map setting, she is hard to make effective and needs very particular matchup conditions to exceed average performance.

Silver

Silver has lost much of the strength that previously made her close-range aggression highly threatening, as Slam Fire and Lycan Curse each received significant nerfs over multiple balance patches. Her strategy still requires her to fully invest in fights, and the payoff for that investment is gone. Still, a heavily fed Silver can take over matches. She struggles from the same problems as Billy and Abrams but is even squishier until she gets into wolf form.

Sinclair

Sinclair remains viable thanks to devoted players who understand precisely how to exploit his unique toolkit. With sufficient experience, Rabbit Hex and Audience Participation provide him with many strong choices, but the typical Sinclair finds it far more difficult to turn such trickery into steady output. He needs his own tier: if there are good ults to steal, he is very strong, and if not, he is pretty weak. His pick rate indicates that more players are starting to use him, and there is a part of his kit that is beginning to make sense to them.

Shiv

Shiv's ability to move, survive, and secure kills is nearly without equal, and his finishing strength allows him to pursue weakened enemies much more aggressively than most other characters. Players with greater skill have traditionally preferred him, as he always requires sharper decision-making than anyone else on the roster. Long games suit Shiv, and buying Battle Vest before minute nine is the fix for him. Among all heroes in this patch, he has one of the sharpest drops in usage, and players are leaving him quickly.

Viscous

Viscous brings a huge amount of utility, and making all of it function requires significantly more work than most characters need. In the current meta, utility-focused disruptors are not the most popular archetype, but a sufficiently large numbers buff might bring him back into relevance. He is a tiny bit weaker than before, since he likes to get around the map with geometry and that is a bit weaker now, but the rest of his kit is still really strong and the ball arguably got a bit better. His pick rate is extremely low, his active player base is very small, and he is having trouble making a meaningful impact in most matches.

Danny

Danny, known as Deadman, focuses on placing himself in risky situations to capitalize on his undead condition, carrying a jetpack, a launcher, and a positive mindset. He is expected to be one of the most mobile heroes on the entire roster. He is one of the six heroes added in the City Never Sleeps update, released through community voting. His build is a hybrid between gun and spirit with Mystic Expansion, which makes him very hard to judge.

The Doorman

With The Doorman's portals and displacement abilities, the flow of rotations, escapes, and combat positioning can be entirely transformed, yet achieving this demands high awareness and deep game understanding. One must nearly sense how a fight will unfold and apply his abilities in response, and an ineffective Doorman achieves almost nothing. His sluggish set of skills is not well-suited to the quicker map in this update, and to gain any meaningful benefit, he needs a highly particular team composition. He is the most extreme example of a hero whose strength depends on the player, nearly useless in inexperienced hands and game-deciding in good ones.

Solomon

Solomon is themed around chess and is primed to be a total outplay monster, with tags that make him sound like a strategic addition to the roster. He only just arrived, so his spot should be treated as a first guess. Higher up, players have figured him out, and buying Compress Cooldown before minute nine helps him most. He is one of the six heroes added in the City Never Sleeps update, released through community voting.

D Tier

These heroes are largely outclassed or struggling in the current meta, and most of them need a specific condition to be worth picking.

Warden

Warden's ability to control crowds and his toughness provide him with great chances to initiate fights, but his finest engagements only turn exceptional when allies instantly grasp what he is preparing and support it. Binding Word and Last Stand have the potential to dominate a teamfight if someone takes advantage of them, and in disorganized play, that is just not occurring. At the top tiers, he could be the most beneficial hero, despite not being able to carry alone like the best characters do. His win rate is extremely low and his pick rate per game is the lowest across the whole game, with a brawler-style kit that does not have the means to match up against more powerful frontliners in this patch.

The Biggest Changes This Season

City Never Sleeps marks Deadlock's largest recent overhaul, introducing a reworked map plus six heroes added individually via player voting. Nurse Harrow, Solomon, Deadman Danny, Violet, Rat King, and Baba are the new heroes, and the community decides the sequence in which they arrive, with two launching every week. The map now has specific lanes named Blue (Broadway), Yellow (York), and Green (Greenwich), each with unique points of interest and neutral creatures called Haunts. Between the lanes there are four districts with their own visual identity and Haunts, plus area-specific challenges like the Sunken Plaza and the Bell Tower. A new vendor called the Broker appeared in Standard and Ranked from September 29 to October 2, 2026, at fixed mirrored locations beside the Blue lane Walkers, and let you exchange high tier items for a Corrupted version, with his first shipment stocked around 30 minutes and additional Corrupted Items available on average every 15 minutes after that. The update also overhauled the HUD with player names, a Rejuvenator indicator, an ultimate indicator, current health values, stamina tracking, and more.
