To level Blacksmithing from 1 to 300 ahead of the launch on November 4, 2026<\/strong>, you must plan around adjusted skill thresholds, as 185 returning recipes<\/strong> turn yellow and grey earlier than in Classic Era. In the beta client, most legacy recipes shift down by 25 points, invalidating older routes and requiring fresh leveling paths.<\/p>\n

Blacksmithing rank requirements<\/h2>\n

You must train each profession rank to raise your maximum tradeskill cap. Each tier requires a specific character level and existing profession skill before a trainer can teach it.<\/p>\n\n

Gathering these items before training helps, but most crafts also require a Blacksmith Hammer and access to an anvil, and some recipes require a forge:<\/p>\n

      Vendor Magnus Frostwake in Caer Darrow, Western Plaguelands, also sells alternative high-end recipes such as Ebon Shiv, Ornate Thorium Handaxe, and Huge Thorium Battleaxe. In Redridge Mountains, Stondry Darkhammer at Three Corners sells 61 specialized recipes<\/strong> and a Blacksmithing Certification for Merchant\u2019s Favor.<\/p>\n

      Blacksmithing camp objects<\/h2>\n

      Blacksmiths can create utility items for the new campsite feature. Characters resting near the campfire receive active bonuses from placed craftables.<\/p>\n

        Specialization quests<\/h2>\n

        At character level 40 and Blacksmithing skill 200, you can choose to become an Armorsmith or a Weaponsmith. This choice is permanent<\/strong> in WoW Forever; changing it requires abandoning Blacksmithing entirely and restarting at skill 1.<\/p>\n

        Weaponsmith specialization<\/h3>\n

        Alliance smiths begin by speaking with Bengus Deepforge in Ironforge, while Horde smiths talk to Krathok Moltenfist in Orgrimmar. You then consult Ironus Coldsteel in Ironforge or Borgosh Corebender in Orgrimmar to pick up The Way of the Weaponsmith. Turn in the following weapons to complete the quest:<\/p>\n

        • 4 Moonsteel Broadsword:<\/strong> The plan is sold by Zarena Cromwind in Booty Bay.<\/li>\n

          Finishing this line unlocks access to the Master Axesmith, Master Hammersmith, and Master Swordsmith sub-specializations.<\/p>\n

          Armorsmith specialization<\/h3>\n

          Alliance players consult Bengus Deepforge and Grumnus Steelshaper in Ironforge, while Horde players visit Krathok Moltenfist and Okothos Ironrager in Orgrimmar. Both factions must complete the Mithril Order quest chain in Stranglethorn Vale and Gadgetzan.<\/p>\n

          Alliance smiths start with The Origins of Smithing from Hank the Hammer in Stormwind by delivering 6 Golden Scale Bracers. Horde smiths take The Old Ways from Aturk the Anvil in Orgrimmar, turning in 4 Steel Breastplates and 4 Steel Plate Helms. Both lines send you to McGavan in Booty Bay, leading to Galvan the Ancient in Stranglethorn Vale.<\/p>\n

          Galvan requires 40 Iron Bars, 120 Mithril Bars, 4 Citrine, and 5 Truesilver Bars across three quests, rewarding the plans for Ornate Mithril Pants, Ornate Mithril Shoulders, and Ornate Mithril Gloves. Trenton Lighthammer in Gadgetzan then teaches Ornate Mithril Boots, Ornate Mithril Helm, and Ornate Mithril Breastplate across three turn-in tasks. Return to your faction trainer and turn in 4 Ornate Mithril Helms, 2 Ornate Mithril Boots, and 1 Ornate Mithril Breastplate to finalize the specialization.<\/p>\n
