For a character still questing through a starting zone, we'd gather along the local circuit and smelt between laps instead.

Copper, tin and bronze: 1 to about 105

Prepare approximately 120–140 Copper Ore and 70 Tin Ore for this route; when tin is expensive, buy only the copper and gather the tin yourself.

Copper, 1–65: Learn Apprentice from a full trainer, stand near a forge and smelt copper until 65, retaining 70 Copper Bars for bronze.

Tin, 65–75: Train Journeyman and learn the tin and bronze recipes, then process 70 Tin Ore; tin stops awarding points at 75, but the bars remain useful for bronze.

Bronze, 75–about 105: Use the saved copper with 70 Tin Bars for 70 crafts, producing 140 Bronze Bars.

Bronze is available at 65, so you can begin it before 75 if your tin batch leaves you short; its skill gains slow after 90 and end at 115. The suggested batch can finish a few points either side of 105.

Silver, iron and gold: the remaining windows

The longer smelting route uses a planning allowance of about 70 Silver Ore, 35 Iron Ore and 60 Gold Ore.
