In WoW Forever, hitting K brings up the hammer-and-pickaxe Professions tab; there, select the tiny red X located on the far right of the skill bar for that profession to unlearn it. Check the name in the confirmation box, type UNLEARN and click Unlearn. The profession's recipes and skill progress are removed, and learning it again starts at skill 1.<\/p>\n

Steps to unlearn a profession<\/h2>\n

  1. Open the Professions window with K, or pick it from the menu bar along the bottom of the screen.<\/li>\n
  2. Select the hammer-and-pickaxe tab at the top of the window.<\/li>\n
  3. Locate the profession you want to remove and hit the tiny red X on the far right of that skill bar; the bigger X located in the top-right corner of the window merely shuts the window.<\/li>\n
  4. In the confirmation box, check the profession name, type UNLEARN and click Unlearn.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If you changed the K binding, use the key you assigned. We'd use the window rather than a chat script for a mistake you are correcting: the X shows which profession is about to go and holds you at a typed confirmation, while a script removes it the moment you press Enter.<\/p>\n

    Each profession has a chat line that removes it by its skill ID, the quick route to unlearn a profession in WoW Forever once you have the right line. Paste only the line for the profession you want gone and press Enter.<\/p>\n\n

    The table covers the nine primary professions; Cooking, Fishing and First Aid have no line here. These lines run without a confirmation dialog, so the profession disappears the instant the command executes. If an "Allow custom scripts?" prompt appears, click Yes and run the same line again.<\/p>\n\n

    If the red X doesn't appear<\/h2>\n

    Players on the official WoW: Forever forums report that the unlearn button is sometimes missing from the Skills panel altogether. In those threads, three players describe the X as an invisible one-pixel line beside the profession XP bar that can still be moused over and clicked. One player reports that clicking that blank spot removed the profession, and another that raising the UI scale above 100% in UI settings made the X interactable again. In one forum thread, players say the button sits on the main Skills tab: “hit K and open the main skills tab on top. Not the specific skill tab, the general one up top. Hit the red X next to the profession xp bar.”<\/p>\n

    What you lose when you unlearn<\/h2>\n

    In one forum thread, five players argue that keeping profession levels<\/a> on unlearn would let everyone max every profession and wreck the economy. Unlearning strips the profession's learned recipes and all of its skill progress, so switching back later means leveling it from skill 1 again. A profession's ranks move upward through Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, and Artisan.<\/p>\n

    Learning a replacement profession<\/h2>\n

    After dropping a primary profession, you can learn another from a trainer out in the world or in a major city. Your character holds two primary professions plus all three secondary ones \u2014 Cooking<\/a>, Fishing and First Aid.<\/p>\n\n
