Players aiming for higher difficulties usually focus on <a href=\"https:\/\/epiccarry.com\/wow\/full-gear\/\">gear upgrades<\/a> before entering Heroic and Mythic raids. There are four main features represented within this new system, <em>Shards of Domination, Domination Sockets, Rune Words, <\/em>and<em> Stygian Embers<\/em>. Herein we will take a closer look at each of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Shards of Domination<\/em> are a new type of gems, which you may find in the loot in the raid. There are 3 types of Shards (Blood, Frost, and Unholy) with a total number of 9 different Shards. Each shard has 5 ranks \u2013 the next more powerful, than the previous one. You may socket these shards only into concrete slots of concrete armor that drops only in the raid. You deal increased damage for 20 seconds after attacking an enemy you have not yet damaged;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#\" data-wowhead=\"item=187071\">Shard of Tel<\/a> \u2013 a healing Frost Shard. Theorycrafters and progression players often optimize these systems while preparing for high-end raiding. All helms, shoulders, and chests in the raid and two more pieces of armor \u2013 different for each armor type, will have those sockets. Socketing 3 shards of the same type will grant you a buff \u2013 <em>Rune Word<\/em> that works, unfortunately, only in Sanctum of Domination, Torghast, and the Maw, and will be idle in other zones.
