Here’s how both Horde and Alliance players can get to the Scholomance entrance:

To unlock the entrance to Scholomance, you’ll need to employ one of several methods: a party member with a Skeleton Key, an engineer with a Powerful Seaforium Charge, or a rogue skilled in lockpicking (280 or higher). If all else fails, there’s a daring, last-resort method where a party member sacrifices themselves near the gate, only to resurrect on the other side, effectively bypassing the lock.
Wow SoD Scholomance | Attunement Chain
To get into Scholomance in WoW Classic, you need to do a special quest chain. Here’s how you do it, step by step:
- First, find a city crier in any main city to get the quest called A Call to Arms: The Plaguelands! This quest takes you to Chillwind Camp if you’re with the Alliance or The Bulwark if you’re with the Horde.
- At the camp, they’ll ask you to defeat 10 Skeletal Flayers and 10 Slavering Ghouls. You’ll find these spooky skeletons in Sorrow Hill, close to Chillwind Camp.
- Your next task is to light up four towers in a ghost town called Andorhal, which is a bit north of the camp. You’ll get a special torch to light them. It can be a little scary because there are strong guards around the towers, so having friends with you can make it safer and more fun.
- After lighting the towers, you need to collect 15 Skeletal Fragments from the skeletons you fight in Andorhal and Sorrow Hill.
- Take those bones to a man named Krinkle Goodsteel. He’ll tell you to go to a fiery mountain called Fire Plume Ridge in Un’Goro Crater. There, you’ll use the bones by a lava lake to make a special key.
- When you have the key, you have to fight a big, bad boss named Araj the Summoner. He’s very strong and has lots of friends with him, so bring your own friends to help fight. You’ll find him in the middle of Andorhal.
- After you defeat Araj, take a special item he drops back to your camp. They will give you the Skeleton Key as a reward. This key lets you enter Scholomance, a very spooky place!
Quest Name | What to Do |
A Call to Arms: The Plaguelands! | Pick up from a city crier, go to your faction’s camp |
Clear the Way | Defeat 10 Skeletal Flayers & 10 Slavering Ghouls |
All Along the Watchtowers | Light towers in Andorhal with a Beacon Torch |
Skeletal Fragments | Collect 15 fragments from undead |
Mold Rhymes With… | Bring fragments to Krinkle Goodsteel |
Fire Plume Forged | Forge key mold at Fire Plume Ridge |
Araj’s Scarab | Defeat Araj the Summoner, collect his scarab |
The Key to Scholomance | Return scarab, get Skeleton Key |
Remember, these steps can be hard, so it’s a good idea to team up with friends to help you along the way!

Wow SoD Scholomance | Plot
Scholomance, originally a plush estate called Caer Darrow, got a dark makeover when the Barov family struck a dicey deal with Kel’Thuzad, the big boss of the Cult of the Damned. They traded their lively estate for eternal life as undead—a classic “be careful what you wish for” scenario. Now, this once grand estate serves as Scholomance, a school where wannabe necromancers and cultists learn all about raising the dead and other cheery subjects.
The undead Barovs still hang around, especially Lady Illucia and Lord Alexei, now key characters in some pretty spooky dungeon quests. Their spirits are stuck in limbo, betrayed by Kel’Thuzad and cursed to roam their old home. Inside Scholomance, you’ll find their tombstones, and quests that dig into the Barov family secrets and try to free their souls.
One of the spookiest tales is that of Jandice Barov, turned ghostly warden of the family’s secrets. Her story is a ghostly echo of betrayal and loss.
