    However, traveling is important! In that light, getting a mount will definitely help you out. 

    In Classic WoW, you will need to achieve level 40 in order to meet your first mount. Soon after that, you will experience a whole new world of possibilities that mounts are offering to each player.

    Getting a Mount in Classic Wow – Requirements

    These requirements are mainly cost-oriented, but there are some which are not involving any gold. Let’s see.

    As we can see, getting a certain level and spending some gold on the mount is necessary for fast traveling in Classic WoW. Also, there are some special kinds of mounts that require you to reach a certain level of riding skill in order to ride them, but we will get to that a bit later.

    Learning Riding Skill

    Reaching level 40 is easy enough if you put an appropriate amount of hours in this game. However, mastering riding skills is not that easy in the first place. 

    To make it clear, you need to understand that each race has its own riding skill set. Therefore, you will have to reach a certain level of this skill to obtain and ride a bit better mounts. 

    Since you need to train riding in order to ride special kinds of mounts (usually better than the regular ones) it’s better to see what you need to do. In that light, we have:

    To be more precise, there’s a way to ride a different race mount, but, you can’t choose which one. That’s because certain types of mounts have riding restrictions for other races. This way, this type of mount is considered special and quite race-oriented.

    Where to Find Trainers 

    Simple as it sounds, trainers for Riding Skill are going to teach you to ride in order for you to use mounts and travel faster through the lands of Classic WoW. 

    Now, since every race has its own riding skill, it’s only logical that you need to find the trainer who is specialized for your race. In that light, let’s break this down and see where should you go, and who you should talk to. 

    Alliance Players

    1. Horse Riding – There’s a guy called Randal Hunter and he’s located in Stormwind near the Logging Camp in Elwynn Forest. 
    2. Ram Riding – In order to learn Ram Riding, you should talk to Ultham Ironhorn from Ironforge. More accurately, he is located at Amberstill Ranch in Dun Morogh
    3. Mechanostrider Piloting – For Gnomes, a guy called Binjy Featherwhistle is offering help to train you. He is at Gnomeregan Exiles, close to Kharanos in Dun Morogh.
    4. Tiger Riding – For Night Elves, there’s a trainer called Jartsam, and you can find him in Darnassus, near the Cenarion Enclave.

    Horde Players

    1. Wolf Riding – Deep inside Orgimmar, a guy named Kildar is offering training lessons. He is located at the Valley of Honnor. 
    2. Kodo Riding –Taurens were always a big part of the game, so, a big guy Kar Stormsinger will teach you to ride. You can find him in Thunder Bluff, near the Bloodhoof Village in Mulgore.
    3. Raptor Riding – Nasty trolls can learn their way around raptor mounts from Xar’Ti at DarkSpear Trolls, near the Sen’jin Village in Durotar.
    4. Undead Horsemanship – Lastly, undeads should visit a necromancer Velma Warnam and get their mount up and ready for riding. You can find this trainer at Undercity near the Brill in Trifsal Glades.

    As you can see, these are the places where you can find trainers to teach you how to ride in Classic WoW. But, what are the costs? 

    Well, let’s get down to that as well!

    Costs of Training

    More often than not, players in Classic WoW are wondering how much it costs to get a mount and ride it. Well, the answer is not that simple. However, the costs of training and acquiring riding skill is quite straight-forward.

    This means that you need to pay 20 GOLD to the trainer in order to equip this set of skills onto your character. 

    But, there’s a way to lower the amount of gold needed for this kind of activity. Namely, you can choose to do something a bit different and lower the cost by 10%.

    Here’s what you need to do:

    1. Having a high reputation with a race that you want to get a mount from – 10% discount
    2. Get your character up to Rank 3 in PvP – 10% discount for every type of riding skill

    In conclusion, it’s best to save 20 GOLD and always be sure that you can master riding skill. However, it’s great to have this kind of discount if you want – There’s no harm to it.

    Purchasing a Mount

    As we move forward, the only question left is how much does a mount actually cost? Well, like in every other game, Classic WoW offers you many choices to go by.

    Therefore, there’s a huge selection of mounts you can choose from, and their cost varies from one type to the other.

    Simply speaking, there are:

    1. Racial Mounts

    Each race has its own mount that is specially designed to improve your riding experience and offer you some benefits. However, it’s normal to choose a mount from a different race, but that will never be the same as choosing the one your race offers you.

    Anyhow, it doesn’t matter what race you are, it’s always the same cost and it goes like this:

    So, why is there such a big difference between these two? Well, for starters, Epic mounts offer you way more than the regular ones. That’s why they are costing more.

    1. PvP Mounts 

    When it comes to PvP mounts, there’s a bit different approach. Namely, every PvP mount costs the same, no matter the race, rank, or anything else. 

    They are obtainable only once you reach rank 11, and, there are two ways to get them, depending on which fraction you are in.

    For Alliance players, getting a PvP mount is possible only from Lieutenant Karter. He is located at Champions Hall in Stormwind City.

    For Horde players, getting a PvP mount is available from Raider Bork. This guy is located at Hall of Legends in Ogrimmar. 

    Therefore, PvP mounts are 100 GOLD.

    And, here are some really interesting for each race:

    Needless to say, you will need to get these mounts in order to improve your results on the battleground and other PvP activities.

    Where to Find Mount Vendors 

    Once you get familiar with all the mounts and possibilities, it’s only a matter of time before you get the most suitable mount. But, where can you get it? Well, sometimes you can get your mount from a riding trainer. 

    However, that’s not always the case since there are special vendors where you can get what you’re looking for. 

    Now, let’s see where they are.

    1. Alliance Mounts 

    We will divide this part by the mount category, not the race. So, let’s take a look.

    It’s not that hard to find these guys in order to get the best mounts your character deserves. Keep in mind that you can visit a different race vendor if you have a good reputation with that race. 

    1. Horde Mounts

    Same as for Alliance players, Horde players can get their mounts at different locations. Let’s see them.

    And, as you can see, these are the places you should visit in order to get the best mounts in Classic WoW.

    Consider a Discount for Epic Mounts

    As we already said, there are two ways to reduce the cost of the mount by 10%. Namely, this will enable you to save quite a lot in case you’re searching for an Epic Mount.

    However, Epic mounts are only obtainable at level 60, so by the time you reach it, you should have a lot of gold. Anyhow, here’s the deal:

    Now, for each of these ways, you will get a 10% discount. This means that you can save up to 200 Gold in case you’re buying an Epic Mount that costs 1000 Gold. 

    Anyhow, in case you have any other plans for your gold, this discount can be really useful. 

    What to get – Which mount to Purchase 

    There are up to 71 mounts in Classic WoW. This is more than enough to make you wonder which one to choose. However, you can’t pick anything you want since there are racial restrictions and level restrictions as well.

    This means that you can pick only mounts that are meant for your race or your level. Either way, there’s no need to look out for those mounts that are simply not designed for your character.

    So there you have it, these are the mounts you can purchase and enjoy riding. Besides these mounts, there are also two other types – Paladin and Warlock Mounts. 

    Both mounts in these classes are specially made to ensure bonus attributes and some other benefits for the rider. 

    And, the best part about these kinds of mounts, is that they don’t require any kind of training. Once you reach level 40 with Paladin or Warlock, you will unlock an ability to obtain a certain ‘’spell’’. 

    Furthermore, you don’t need any kind of special training in order to obtain and ride these mounts, you only need to get level 40. 

    Riding a Mount – Do’s and Don’ts 

    There are a couple of things you should know before getting into mount riding. Namely, you should take care and have a lot on your mind while you ride. So, let’s take a look at what should you do and what you should never do with mounts.

    Also, in order to summon mount, you can’t be in combat. So, in a way, mounts are not meant to be ‘’escape’’ plan. 

    While being dazed, you will get slowed by 50% which will make you an even easier target. So make sure not to ride your mount into battle. 

    Anyhow, keep these things on your mind and you’ll get far with your mount!

    Overall Cost – Summed Up

    After all, let’s take a look at what you really need and how much does it cost you to get a mount in Classic WoW.

    Here are the essentials:

    In summary, you will need at least 100 Gold, but you can go far and spend 1020 Gold as well. That mostly depends on your preferences. 

    Consider getting a discount as we previously mentioned – two times for 10% is quite generous and offers a great way to save up to 200 Gold and more. 

    UPDATE: When do you get a mount in The Burning Crusade Classic WoW expansion?

    As we already said, the level 40 requirement is changed and now you actually need to be at least level 30 in order to ride. But, your first mount will actually be a bit underwhelming as you will get only a 60% speed bonus. That’s a blue standard mount that you can get for approximately 40 gold. 

    On the other hand, there are plenty of better mounts, the Epic ones. These mounts have special requirements and they are way more expensive. However, with the price comes a great benefit. Your new Epic mount will actually allow you to travel 100% faster. 

    That’s great, right? Well, of course it is! But, you will need to be level 60 with a deep pocket as this whole experience will cost you around 570 to 600 gold. 

    On top of it all, there is also a unique way of traveling available – Flying. This activity is also possible, but it requires you to be at least level 70. Also, you will need to spend at least 800 gold on flying and 100 to 200 gold on a flying mount. 

    But, you will be able to travel at 150% speed with a flying mount.

    To summarize everything:

    What level can you get a mount in TBC WoW

    There is more than one answer to this question. How? Since there is more than one type of mount, and riding skill available, level requirement differs from one type to another.

    Meaning, you will be able to ride your slow mount at level 30, but you won’t be able to travel fast with an Epic mount until you reach level 60. On top of that, flying is only available once you ‘’get a degree’ in ground riding skill and then learn a flying skill which is possible at level 70.

    Furthermore, flying in TBC is also upgradeable which means that you can master an Artisan Riding skill for 5000 gold. This is actually quite useful as it allows you to travel at 200% – That’s of course if you have a suitable mount to ride which usually costs around 200 gold.

    Anyway, let’s break this down into pieces and see exactly what level do you need for each mount type:

    Slow Ground riding – 60% Speed Increase – You need to be level 30

    Fast Ground riding – 100% Speed Increase – You need to be level 60

    Slow Flying – 60% Speed Increase – You need to be level 70

    Fast flying – 200% Speed Increase – You need to be level 70

    There you go! That’s the level requirement for each riding category in TBC.

    How much do mounts cost in Burning Crusade?

    Besides the level requirement to master a riding skill, there is also one other aspect you should have in mind – The Cost! Namely, mounts in WoW TBC are available from a basic 10 gold to epic ones that are approximately 100 gold. 

    But, let’s see that in a bit clearer fashion, shall we?

    There are plenty of other things you need to include in the cost of riding when it comes to TBC. Therefore, mounts are the least of your problems.

    Anyhow, in order to start your mounting journey, you will need to be at least level 30 and have a bit of gold in your pocket. To be precise, you will need at least 40 gold to train your riding skill and buy your first slow mount. 

    Moving on with your leveling, once you reach level 60, you will be able to get an Epic mount that offers much faster speed. This mount usually costs around 100 gold and requires you to have an Expert riding skill. In order to train this skill, you will need to spend at least 570 gold. 

    Once you get tired from ground traveling, you can also get a flying mount at level 70. But, the cost is only increasing. Meaning, you will have to have an Expert Riding skill in order to train Artisan Riding. This special skill, Artisan Riding, will cost you 5000 gold flat!

    On top of that, you will need to get a fast flying mount which is approximately 200. All in all, the cost of using a flying mount goes from 5200 gold. 

    In order to provide a clear picture, here’s how much you need to spend for riding:

    The good thing here is that the overall cost can be a bit lower in case you’re honored in an area where you get your mount.

    In the light of everything we said above, it’s clear that mounts are quite useful things to use. They offer you a way to fast travel through the lands which save you a lot of time and effort.
