Field Upgrades are special loadout abilities used in Zombies that provide powerful offensive or defensive effects on activation. In BO7, examples include Aether Shroud (temporary stealth) and Healing Aura (revive/heal nearby allies).
Some Field Upgrades are unlocked immediately, while others require reaching specific player levels (for example, Frenzied Guard at Level 8 and Aether Shroud at Level 48). After unlocking, upgrades come from Augments research progression rather than simple in-match purchases.
Field Upgrades give you a reliable “panic button” for high-pressure moments: escaping, saving a teammate, stabilising armour, or clearing space. They’re especially valuable in high rounds and objective-heavy Zombies steps where a single mistake can end the run.
Yes — BO7 supports upgrading Field Upgrades via Augments, which modify how they work and increase their effectiveness. Augment Research becomes permanently available once you reach Player Level 11.
