The Chasm is best handled as two connected but different exploration scopes. The Overground area focuses on surface routes, while the Underground Mines require deeper quest progress and special mechanics.

The Chasm should be cleared with a planned route because the surface and underground maps use different mechanics. Random exploration often leaves missed Lumenspar, locked gates, dark mud routes, or hidden chests behind.
The Chasm is a Liyue expansion region in Genshin Impact with two main exploration layers: the overground quarry area and The Chasm: Underground Mines. It is known for Lumenspar, Lumenstone Adjuvant upgrades, dark mud mechanics, hidden tunnels, locked gates, chest routes, World Quests, and underground exploration.
The Chasm is located in western Liyue, near the border between Liyue and Sumeru. Its surface area appears on the main Teyvat map, while The Chasm: Underground Mines uses a separate underground map with its own subareas and waypoints.
To unlock The Chasm: Underground Mines, players need the required Adventure Rank, Archon Quest progress, and The Chasm Delvers quest progress, including Surreptitious Seven-Star Seal Sundering. Surface access and underground access should be checked separately. For deeper underground exploration, The Chasm Delvers questline is important because it unlocks map sections, the Lumenstone Adjuvant system, and routes needed for full completion.
The Chasm exploration can reward Primogems, Adventure EXP, Mora, chest loot, Lumenspar progress, Lumenstone Adjuvant rewards, achievement progress, materials, and World Quest rewards. The final amount depends on your current completion percentage and selected area scope.
Lumenspar is a special collectible found in The Chasm: Underground Mines. There are 80 Lumenspar used for Lumenstone Adjuvant progress, while Lumenstone Ore is obtained through The Chasm Delvers questline. It is used to upgrade the Lumenstone Adjuvant, which helps with underground mechanics, exploration tools, and progression through dark mud areas.
The Lumenstone Adjuvant is a gadget used in The Chasm: Underground Mines. It is upgraded with Lumenspar and Lumenstone Ore, helping players interact with underground mechanics, clear dark mud, activate mechanisms, and locate nearby Lumenspar at higher upgrade levels.
