Most Power Charge shields want you sitting at maximum stacks as long as possible, since that’s usually where the biggest bonus lives. Malachai’s Loop flips that logic: reaching the cap is the trigger that empties the stack and Shocks you, so the build plays around staying just under the ceiling, milking the climb, not parking at the top. That difference is exactly why a perfect roll on the per-charge affix matters so much more here than on a normal Power Charge item.

Buy PoE Malachai’s Loop Boost if a caster that pushes forward sounds better than another shield built purely around passive block chance. Item availability shifts with the market, so confirm your league and character with our manager, and the exact perfect roll pictured lands in your inventory the same session.
It raises damage taken for a short window, right as your Power Charges reset, so it lines up with the one moment the build is briefly weaker. The (210-250)% increased Energy Shield roll exists specifically to absorb that window, which is why the shield leans so heavily into raw ES over other defenses.
All three scale off Power Charges, but the trigger and payoff differ enough that they’re not simple swaps for each other. Willclash regenerates charges passively and resets on Block, Romira’s Banquet resets on a Critical Strike, and Malachai’s Loop resets the moment you hit the charge cap itself, so the right pick depends on which trigger fits your specific skill and playstyle.
Not for a channeled caster standing in place to fire Winter Orb, since that playstyle already spends most of a fight stationary. Builds that rely on constant repositioning will feel it more than one built around planting and channeling.
