The Blood Moon event offers a diverse loot table designed to suit various classes and play styles:
Explore the full range of class-specific treasures and tactical advantages offered by the Blood Moon’s unique loot table, detailed in The Wow Sod Blood Moon PvP Event Guide, and enhance your role in battle with gear specifically suited to your needs.
The Blood Moon PvP Event is basically Stranglethorn Vale’s version of Fight Club, except everyone broke Rule #1 and now it’s a whole server-wide brawl. Every 3 hours, starting at 12:00 AM server time, it kicks off. You, your enemies, your frenemies… No one’s safe. Horde? Alliance? It doesn’t matter, if it moves, it’s a target. If it doesn’t move you are free to force it to move and than kill. This is PvP at its finest.
During this event you’re collecting Blood for the Blood Loa. The blood transforms into Blood-Caked Coins, which you can trade for Epic Rewards. You can buy gear and mounts for that currency. What makes it fun? The chaos. One minute you’re taking down a hunter, the next, you’re getting ambushed by three warriors and a warlock spamming fear. But hey we both know the rewards are worth it.
First things first. If you’re level 10 you are technically ready to participate. Should you, though? That’s already a different question. Aim to hit at least level 40 before you show up in the Stranglethorn so at least you won’t die to local NPCs here. But trust me it is better to hit 60 before joining the event.
Second, as you already read, you have to get yourself to Stranglethorn Vale. No special portals or NPCs that will queue for the battle. You physically have to run there.
Once you’re in STV, just hang out until the event starts. Blood Moon goes live every 3 hours and runs for 30 minutes. You’ll know you are on time when the sky will do something spooky, like a goth filter on Instagram. It’s Hunger Games rules, so don’t trust anyone.
Sort of. If you really don’t want to deal with someone teabagging your corpse, there’s a way out. You can speak to a Zandalarian Emissary. These emissaries are scattered around in Duskwood, Ratchet, Stranglethorn Vale, and Tirisfal Glades. Talk to one and click the option to protect yourself. You will get the Zandalari Ward buff that stops the Blood Moon event from dragging you into PvP.
The Zandalari Ward only protects you from Blood Moon-specific PvP. It doesn’t make you magically immune to regular PvP rules. If you’re on a PvP server, you’re still fair game for anyone from the opposite faction. Same goes if you’re on a PvE server and happen to be flagged. Should you opt out? If you’re just trying to level, collect herbs, or peacefully fish in Stranglethorn, it’s probably a good idea.
This is Blood Moon event-specific buff. When you kill another player during the Blood Moon event, you get 5 stacks of the buff. These stacks max out at 255. Every death of yours shaves off a chunk of your stacks. And the more stacks you have, the more you stacks you lose. So, what do you do with these stacks?
The answer is above. You convert them into the currency of the Blood Moon event. This currency is used to buy gear and mounts. Visit Mai’zin just outside of the Gurubashi Arena in Stranglethorn Vale.
Let’s break it down. There is only one quest you can complete during Blood Moon Event in World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery.
Alliance:Stranglethorn Lumber from Sergeant Maclear in Refuge Point, Arathi Highlands
Horde:Stranglethorn Lumber from Deathstalker Mortis in Hammerfall, Arathi Highlands
Your objective is to obtain and deliver a Shipment of Stranglethorn Lumber. Here is a short step-by-step guidance:
Upon Completion you will get 200 reputation with The League of Arathor or The Defilers depending on your faction.
Yes, there are two mounts: Reins of the Golden Sabercat and Whistle of the Mottled Blood Raptor. Both of them cost 2 Blood-Caked Gold Coins + 800 gold.
Now tell me… What’s cooler than a riding tiger or raptor? A riding tiger or raptor soaked in metaphorical blood of victory of course! The price seems simple, but there’s a lot of effort involved. First, you’ll need to farm Blood-Caked Gold Coins. To get those you will need:
After collecting 2 Gold Coins and burning a hole in your gold pouch for 800 shiny ones, head to Mai’zin and purchase your mount.
Yep, they are still there! Just go and visit Zalgo the Explorer on Yojamba Isle. He offers the following rewards:

Keep in mind, most of the PvP gear sold by this vendor is class specific and can only be worn one at a time. It is also already outdated.
