Players are matched based on a hidden Matchmaking Rating (MMR), which helps create balanced games. However, since QP is more casual, the matchmaking system isn’t as strict, meaning you might occasionally face opponents of significantly different skill levels.
Some players feel that QP matchmaking can be inconsistent, especially when they end up against much higher-ranked opponents. While SBMM exists, it’s not as tightly controlled as in ranked play.
So if you’re coming in OW2 after CoD, and are afraid that the game will put you against Twitch pros after a couple of wins, then you can relax – nothing like that will happen.
