Yes, the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj is very much part of WoW Classic Season of Discovery. If you’ve never had the chance to dive into this bug-infested raid back in the day, now’s your opportunity! AQ20 is a 20-player raid located in the infamous desert of Silithus. It’s a sister raid to the 40-player Temple of Ahn’Qiraj.
Blizzard has kept the original flavor intact, but you can expect some exciting twists and surprises. The lore of the ancient Qiraji empire remains rich and captivating, as you uncover the mysteries of their rise and fall. Plus, who doesn’t want to squash giant bugs while decked out in tier gear? Just don’t let C’Thun hear you’re coming!
Good news, adventurers! You do not need attunement for the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj in WoW Classic SoD. This means no gathering Scarabs or Scepter of the Shifting Sands quests required to knock on the door here.
Just gather 19 of your best raid buddies and get right into the insect-infested madness that is AQ20. You can roll up to the gates whenever you’re ready. The bosses here don’t mess around, even in SoD. While you might not need attunement, showing up underprepared is never a good idea.
Bring your S-game, be ready to face ancient creatures with far too many legs, and maybe leave the sandals at home because Silithus sand is everywhere.
This 20-man raid does expect you to come prepared! There’s no formal attunement or key requirement—just show up with your raid team and step into the heart of Silithus.
That said, don’t expect to just breeze through the front gate. You’ll need at least 20 players, and it’s highly recommended your group be appropriately geared. While AQ20 is more forgiving than its 40-player counterpart, the enemies here are still ancient bugs with an attitude. Make sure your team has solid raid synergy, good coordination, and preferably no fear of spiders.
You’ll also want to bring plenty of consumables and potions. Remember, AQ20 bosses can hit hard, so having the right buffs and gear will make the difference between success and becoming bug food.
Lastly, don’t forget to farm nature resistance gear four your tank if you’re worried about certain fights, and as always, be prepared to have some fun while smashing bugs and looting treasures!
The entrance to Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj is in the desert of Silithus, just south of Cenarion Hold. Silithus is located on the western edge of Kalimdor, and once you arrive, head toward the southern end of the zone. There, you’ll stumble upon the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj, the same gates that once saw a server-wide event unfold during the original AQ opening event.
There are two distinct entrances at these gates! The larger, more imposing entrance leads to the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj (AQ40), while the smaller, slightly less intimidating portal to the right is your gateway to the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj (AQ20). It might not be as flashy, but don’t underestimate it, there are plenty of bug bosses waiting to ruin your day!
As you stand before the portal, take a deep breath of that dry desert air. Make sure your team is ready before you step inside because the dangers of AQ20 is waiting. And remember, the sand gets everywhere.
The Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj in WoW Classic Season of Discovery features six unique bosses, each with their own mechanics, themes, and insect-inspired horrors. These bosses aren tough, lore-filled encounters designed to test your raid’s coordination.
First up, you’ll face Kurinnaxx, a giant sand reaver who enjoys debuffing tanks and making healers sweat. After that, General Rajaxx will test your raid’s ability to handle waves of adds while shouting his signature line, “Kill them all!” You’ll then encounter Moam, an obsidian destroyer with a mana-draining appetite.
Halfway through, you’ll square off against the silithid lord Buru the Gorger, who loves to play “catch” with your raid. Then there’s Ayamiss the Hunter, a floating wasp that enjoys sacrificing players to her larvae (sounds fun, right?). And finally, Ossirian the Unscarred, the hardest boss of AQ20, awaits you with his invulnerability mechanics and punishing damage output. To sum it up, there are following bosses:
Each boss drops loot that can set your raid up for the tougher challenges of AQ40 and Naxx, so it’s well worth the effort to clear these six bug overlords.
