You can’t wield both Benediction and Anathema simultaneously. Why, you ask? Well, first of all you can equip only one 2-handed weapon at a time. Second, they’re actually two sides of the same staff.
Think of it like a magic trick—ta-da! With a simple right-click, Benediction transforms into Anathema and vice versa. It lets you tailor your staff to your role, no matter if you’re healing or smiting.
It’s like arguing over whether a Gnome looks better in engineering goggles or a wizard hat.
Benediction boosts your healing spells, which makes it BiS weapon for healing priests. Anathema, on the other hand, is perfect for shadow priests who prefer a more… offensive approach. This variant enhances your shadow damage.
So, there is no difference if you heal or do damage. This weapon is best in slot for both roles.
The Eye of Divinity is the item needed to acquire Benediction and Anathema. This item is dropped from the Majordomo Executus, in the Molten Core raid.
The drop rate can be a bit of a gamble. RNGesus might smile upon you, or you might find yourself farming it for months… Who knows? Once you’ve got the Eye of Divinity, you can start the quest chain and obtain you staff.
The quest chain for Benediction and Anathema is a test of your priestly skills. First, you’ll need the Eye of Divinity from Molten Core, which is already a hard task to complete. A lot of priests are hunting that item and it is really hard to get it because of the high
competition.
Next, you’ll have to secure the Eye of Shadow, which drops from elite demons in Winterspring or can be bought from other players.
The final challenge is a solo event, the “Test of Faith,” in the Eastern Plaguelands. It’s an intense, timed quest where you must heal spectral peasants and keep them alive against waves of undead.
Efficient mana management here is the key. Successfully completing these trials awards you with the staff.
The Splinter of Nordrassil and The Eye of Shadow are items for the Benediction and Anathema quest line. The Eye of Shadow drops from elite demons in Winterspring or can be traded from other players. Prepare a lot of gold or the luck of a goblin.
The Splinter of Nordrassil, while not as famous, plays a vital role in the lore and crafting of the staff.
Combining these items is part of the process that will grant you the Benediction and Anathema.
