Blizzard lifted the seasonal crest cap during the week of October 20, 2026, alongside hotfixes for WoW Midnight Patch 12.1.5. Players no longer face weekly caps on crest acquisitions, allowing unlimited farming to finish end-game item upgrades. With the myth mistcrests uncapped limit removed, you can freely turn surplus currency into top-tier upgrades.
What changed with Mistcrest caps
Before the October 20 hotfix, characters were restricted by seasonal limits on accumulating high-end upgrade materials. The update cleared the cap on Mistcrests.
| Upgrade Feature | Before October 20 Hotfix | Patch 12.1.5 Current State |
| Myth Mistcrest Cap | Capped weekly (100 crest limit) | Fully uncapped with zero limit |
| PvP Currencies | Standard seasonal restrictions | Conquest and Bloody Tokens uncapped |
| Ascendant Venomstones | Locked behind research timers | Available after "Ascending with Venomstones" |
Earlier in Season 2, certain one-time quests and first kills offered uncapped crests ahead of the hotfix. Completing a Tier 11 Delve yielded the Cracked Keystone quest, awarding 20 Hero Mistcrests and 20 uncapped Myth Mistcrests upon clearing a +2 or higher Mythic Keystone. Defeating the Delve Nemesis Azta’rec on Tier?? gave 30 uncapped Hero Mistcrests and 30 uncapped Myth Mistcrests, while normal drops from the encounter remained subject to the original seasonal restriction.

Converting lower crests to reach 334 item level
The primary method to quickly amass Myth Mistcrests without relying strictly on end-game drop RNG is the crest-exchange vendor in Silvermoon City. Players who have unlocked each tier's milestones can trade up their lower-grade materials through successive ranks:
- Adventure Mistcrests convert into Veteran Mistcrests.
- Veteran Mistcrests trade up to Champion Mistcrests.
- Champion Mistcrests trade up to Hero Mistcrests.
- Hero Mistcrests trade up directly to Myth Mistcrests.
Consolidating lower-tier bags lets you quickly fund gear ranks. In practice, trading in unused lower tokens can generate enough currency—such as 90 Myth Mistcrests—to take an unupgraded Myth piece up several ranks, though a full 1/6 to 6/6 upgrade costs 100 Myth Mistcrests. Once gear reaches that plateau, players can complement their loadouts with crafted options outlined in the WoW Midnight Max Level Crafted Gear guide.
If you want to bypass the dungeon loop entirely, the WoW Mistcrests Boost handles targeted farming across every tier.
What to do next
After reaching item level 334 on your Myth pieces, focus on the new progression systems unlocked in the same reset:
- Turn in the quest "Ascending with Venomstones" from Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City.
- Collect 10 Ascendant Venomstones from Heroic or Mythic raid bosses, Mythic+ dungeons at key level +10 and higher, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves, or Nightmare Prey Hunt chests. Full Labyrinth clears can provide up to three Delve chests that drop these stones.
- Take the 10 stones to the Catalyst in Silvermoon City to push a fully upgraded Season 2 Hero, Myth, or Tidal Crafted weapon, trinket, or necklace beyond its normal ceiling.
