Diablo 4 Patch 3.3 makes Helltides always active through staggered event timers across different regions. In the 3.3.0 PTR, you no longer lose unspent Aberrant Cinders when an event ends, letting you save your farmed currency across multiple waves. These changes ensure a Helltide is always at least active in non-expansion zones.
How Helltides and Cinders change in Patch 3.3
Helltide events no longer start simultaneously across Sanctuary. Base-game territories launch an event at the beginning of the hour, while expansion regions begin their timers at the 30-minute mark. This offset ensures at least one active zone in non-expansion regions at any point during your session.
Aberrant Cinders also persist after an event concludes instead of vanishing from your inventory. You can keep your balance when switching regions or taking a break between events.
| Feature | Before Patch 3.3 | Patch 3.3 |
| Non-expansion zone uptime | Periodic downtime between runs | Helltide always active |
| Base zone start times | Shared timer | Starts on the hour |
| Expansion zone start times | Shared timer | Starts on the 30-minute mark |
| Aberrant Cinder balance | Resets when Helltide ends | Persists across Helltide cycles |
| PTR availability | Not available | 3.3.0 PTR runs October 27 to November 3 |
Alongside the zone changes, Patch 3.3 adjusts mount traversal and damage over time. Mounts travel faster at base movement speed but gain less velocity from spurring, resulting in only a minor increase to your overall maximum speed. Area damage-over-time skills, including Upheaval's Trailblazing Variant, now gain longer durations from Damage Over Time Duration bonuses like the Shattered Vow affix.

What this means for your open-world farming
Constant event uptime in non-expansion zones changes how you spend your time in Sanctuary. If you finish clearing chests in a base zone or want a change of scenery, you can jump straight to an expansion zone 30 minutes later without waiting for a cooldown. For extra speed when traversing between events, check our Diablo 4 Mounts Guide.
The removal of the Cinder reset also takes away the rush to spend loose currency before the clock hits zero. Our Diablo 4 Helltide Farm can handle the event runs and Blood Maiden kills to collect your gear and Cinders.
