Season 15 War Plans split your endgame farming across seven activity trees, and each tree has its own point pool rather than one shared pool. The best nodes depend on what you are farming: Hatred for Nightmare Dungeons and The Pit, Destruction for Lair Bosses and The Undercity, and Terror for Helltide and Infernal Hordes.
How War Plans Work in Season 15
War Plans require Lord of Hatred access and the system unlocked. The seven trees are Tree of Whispers, Nightmare Dungeons, Helltide, Kurast Undercity, Lair Bosses, Infernal Hordes, and The Pit. Starter priorities use two or three points per activity, and a full tree spends exactly seven points in each activity. Season 15 shares earned War Plans progress across matching realm, Hardcore, and Solo-Self Found partitions, but each character still allocates its own points.
The 24 Seasonal Bonuses and Soul Splinters
Season 15 "Season of Hell's Legacy" adds a second layer: 24 existing War Plan nodes gain an extra seasonal line that only fires while a specific Soul Splinter is equipped and your reputation with that Splinter has reached a specific rank. The nodes themselves are unchanged — the bonus is an additional effect bolted onto an old node, and each of the three Splinters unlocks exactly eight of them. Every Splinter uses the same rank schedule: ranks 4, 5, 8, 12, 14, 18, 20 and 22 of its reputation track, which runs to rank 24 at 20,000 reputation. The bonus is delivered by an Activity Modifier handed out at those eight reputation ranks. All 24 are new in Season 15 — Season 14 had no seasonal line on any War Plan node.
The Tree of Whispers is the only tree that serves all three Splinters — it holds 6 of the 24; the other six trees hold 3 each and are locked to a single Splinter.
Which Splinter to Choose for Each Activity
Each Splinter owns two activities outright plus a share of the Whispers tree.
- Splinter of Hatred — Nightmare Dungeons and The Pit. This is the progression Splinter. Its Pit bonuses target glyphs and Artificer's Stones, and on the Nightmare Dungeon side it adds a second War's Bounty Chest, revivable bosses, and Horadric Altars from Elite kills.
- Splinter of Destruction — Lair Bosses and The Undercity. This is the loot Splinter. Exotic Armory turns Hoard Chests into extra Uniques for any Class, Lair of Runes adds Rune drops from Lair Bosses, and Two by Two raises the Nemesis Lair portal chance. The Undercity half is XP and density.
- Splinter of Terror — Helltide and Infernal Hordes. This is the currency Splinter. Wretched Vermin makes Demonic Rats permanently Elite for more Aberrant Cinders, Tainted Shrines stretches Helltide shrines, and Council Coffers drops the Chest of Talismans to a flat 1 Aether.
Put plainly: take Hatred if you are pushing glyphs, Artificer's Stones and Mythics, Destruction if you are farming Uniques and Lair Bosses, and Terror if you live in Helltide and Infernal Hordes. None of the three touches all seven trees, so the choice is a real one.
Best Starter Nodes
Start with Branching Pathways for Escalations, Jade Epiphany for Undercity XP, and Choron's Haste for Glyph upgrades. These selections work independently of your character class.

| Nightmare Dungeons | Waking Spoils, Gauntlet, Nemesis, Fearless Conviction |

Node Tradeoffs Worth Knowing
Corrupted Roots is the flex point in the Tree of Whispers — replace it with Malignant Invasion if you want Varshan ambushes and can handle the fight, but skip that swap on a fragile Hardcore character. In Nightmare Dungeons, take a shrine before clearing nearby packs; Gauntlet releases stored enemies when the buff ends, but changing Escalation floors loses them. In Helltide, Meat Brothers is a specialized swap that replaces Hellborne with chained Butchers, and it is best left out of a general setup while your defenses are unfinished. For Undercity Tribute Chests, swap Initiative for Trials and Tributes — Gutter Filth alone does not unlock those chests. Golden Hoard converts non-Unique, non-Mythic equipment drops from Hoard Chests into Gold; swap it for Greater Nemesis if you need salvage. In Infernal Hordes, Total Chaos favors more Chaos Waves at the cost of one Offering choice, and if you prefer shaping a consistent Offering strategy you can replace Total Chaos and Bedlam with Reign in Hell and Pulse of Aether. Pit Butcher is the risk in The Pit full setup: killing him completes the run, but he fails it if he kills any player.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Splinter should I start with?
Start with Baal if Undercity XP is your immediate goal; switch to Mephisto when Glyph upgrades take priority. Diablo fits a Helltide and Hordes loot loop. Choose by activity instead of treating one demon as permanently best.
Do I have to pick one Splinter forever?
No — choose by activity instead of treating one demon as permanently best.
Can my alt use a different setup?
Yes — each character still allocates its own points, so your alt can use a different setup.
When should I change my tree?
Finish the starter paths for your main activities first, add the remaining points as you earn them, then respec loot and encounter choices when you switch farms. Extra rewards stop being efficient when the added Monster Power slows every pack to a crawl.
