An alethonym is the true name of a person or object — someone nicknamed "Jimmy" might have the alethonym "James".
The weapon's lore card has Petra reading to Eido about Nedhi, an Awoken who set out to find and name everything in her universe.
Nedhi believed that recording the existence of the Other would reflect the Self, so naming the world would describe how best to be Awoken.
The entry ends with Eido guessing that it is all metaphor and Petra answering that nobody can be sure without someone there to write the truth.

Is Alethonym good in PvE?
