Ice Breaker fires at 49 RPM and holds 10 rounds in the magazine. Its Impact is 100, Range 72, Stability 38, Handling 40, Reload Speed 0, Aim Assistance 58, Zoom 35, Recoil 64 and Airborne Effectiveness 6. Precision shots deal 2761 damage in PvE and 497 in PvP.

Ammo generation is tied to combatant rank: one round per two Minor kills, two rounds for Elites, and three rounds for minibosses and bosses.

Ice Breaker lore

Ice Breaker was a Häkke design commissioned by the Vanguard and later outlawed for being dangerous before the design was stolen and replicated. In the Destiny 2 story, the Warlock Shayura finds an Ice Breaker in a derelict Häkke foundry while her Ghost scans records, which point to a Golden Age Häkke office in what was once Chicago. The weapon first appeared in the original Destiny and returned in Destiny 2 in Episode: Revenant as a Vesper's Host drop.

How to get Ice Breaker

As with most other dungeon exotics, Ice Breaker is a random drop from the final encounter of Vesper's Host. You need The Final Shape Dungeon Key for the dungeon to be available.

• Fight through the dungeon to the final encounter and defeat the boss.
• Ice Breaker has a chance to drop from that final encounter.
• Complete Vesper's Host dungeon triumphs to increase the drop rate.

Ice Breaker catalyst

The catalyst adds Icing-Breaker: landing a hit on a slowed or frozen target has a chance to return the round to the magazine. Earning it starts with completing the Rogue Network quest and a few steps after it, which unlock a third digit slot in the secret loot room. You then solve a column puzzle in the puzzle room found by exiting toward the final boss and following the outer wall of the ship. The last step is running Vesper's Host with Ice Breaker equipped and finding four Stasis crystals, each showing a randomized number that together form a code you enter in the secret loot room.

• The first crystal is just after the first encounter, in the small room at the top of the stairs.
• The second is in the nuclear maze before the second encounter, behind some boxes.
• The third is after the second encounter, just after the large drop into the jumping puzzle.
• The fourth is in the tripwire room outside the secret loot room, on the far right wall.

Upgrading the catalyst requires 500 kills with Ice Breaker.

Is Ice Breaker good in PvE and PvP?

Ice Breaker sits at B-tier for PvE and A-tier for PvP. Because it needs final blows or assists from your other weapons and abilities to make ammo, it struggles to justify a slot in PvE over alternatives. In the Crucible it carries a solid stat package, and its perks are more useful there.
