Atlas and Almanac is a raid quest tied to the Epic Desert Perpetual raid. It is one of the two required quests (alongside Map and Territory) needed to unlock Desert Perpetual Gear Attunement, which allows you to focus specific raid weapons or armor and, for Whirling Ovation owners, access its catalyst.
To complete Atlas and Almanac, you first need to clear the Epic Desert Perpetual raid and interact with the Simulant Ansible to pick up the quest. Then, you must complete a full Epic TDP run while solving the associated raid puzzle steps; once all objectives are done and the raid is cleared again, you can turn in the quest and unlock Gear Attunement.
Atlas and Almanac is structured around a single multi-part objective: pick up the quest after an Epic TDP clear, complete the designated Epic raid puzzle and full run, then return to finish the quest. In practice, it breaks into three functional steps: obtain quest, complete Epic raid with puzzle, and claim rewards at the quest giver.
Yes. Map and Territory must be completed first; only then does Atlas and Almanac become available after an Epic Desert Perpetual clear. If you already have the Envoy’s Tog shader, it usually means Map and Territory is done and you are eligible to start Atlas and Almanac.
Completing Atlas and Almanac unlocks Desert Perpetual Gear Attunement, letting you select a specific raid weapon or armor piece to have a greatly increased drop chance from any Desert Perpetual encounter. It also grants progress toward raid Triumphs and, if you own Whirling Ovation, access to its Exotic Catalyst.
