The Weapon’s Refrain runs five distinct phases — Garuda, Ifrit, Titan, Lahabrea, and Ultima Weapon — with each Primal requiring the Woken status to be activated before the kill, or the final phase can’t be completed. The Weapon’s Refrain Raid Carry FAQ

What is the Woken mechanic in The Weapon’s Refrain and why does it determine whether the fight can be completed? 

Each of the three Primals — Garuda, Ifrit, and Titan — must be defeated with Woken status active, triggered by completing specific mechanic conditions during their phase. Garuda requires all Feather Rain puddles to be soaked, Ifrit requires all Nails to be destroyed before he dies, and Titan requires surviving the Gaols mechanic without losing a player. If any Primal dies without Woken status, the final phase becomes impossible to complete — Ultima Weapon won’t reach the point where the Tank LB3 window appears, and the run is effectively dead. This is the main reason PF groups fail UwU so consistently: one missed Nail or an unsoak’d puddle in the first three phases invalidates the entire run regardless of how cleanly everything else was executed.

How long does it realistically take to clear The Weapon’s Refrain without a boost? 

UwU is considered the shortest and most accessible Ultimate in FFXIV, but accessible relative to other Ultimates still means weeks of progression for most Party Finder groups. The Woken requirement adds a layer of coordination that filters out groups quickly — a single player missing the Nail destruction on Ifrit or getting caught in a Gaol on Titan sends the group back to the start.
