The Diablo 4 Hellfire Torch bug is staying in the game for the rest of Season 15. Blizzard confirmed the unintended interaction that lets players run more Unique Charms than intended will not be changed during the current season, and that a fix is coming only after further investigation. For your build, that means the extra-charm setup is safe to use for the rest of the season — but it is a season-long perk, not a permanent rule.

What Blizzard said about the Hellfire Torch bug

Blizzard's message was posted by Dan Tanguay, Design Director for Diablo IV:

"We've been following the discussions around the Hellfire Torch interaction that allows players to combine multiple charms, and we wanted to share an update.

The team is aware of the issue and has spent time investigating it. While we've confirmed that this interaction is resulting in behavior beyond what was originally intended, we've decided not to make changes to it during the current season.

We know many players have spent significant time earning the Hellfire Torch and building characters around it. Because of that, we want to be thoughtful about making adjustments mid-season that could disrupt those investments.

At the same time, this interaction deserves a closer look. We'd like additional time to investigate the underlying issue and ensure that any future changes are implemented correctly and behave as intended.

We've also seen the positive reception to the Hellfire Torch itself from many players. The item has created a lot of excitement this season, and we've taken note of the feedback from those who have enjoyed earning it and incorporating it into their builds. While we don't have anything to announce today, it is something we're considering for the future, which makes it even more important that we fully understand and address this interaction the right way.

For now, we wanted to let you know that we're aware of the issue, actively investigating it, and discussing the best long-term path forward. As always, we appreciate the reports, feedback, and discussions that help us better understand how these systems are impacting your experience.

Thank you, and we'll share more when we have updates."

The statement was published on the official forums by Rich 'Filthierich' Bantegui, a senior community manager for the Diablo series.

What the Hellfire Torch actually does

Season 15 added the Hellfire Torch, a Unique Charm that lets you equip an additional Unique Charm while also functioning as a replacement for a Set Charm. It carries +All Skills, +All Stats and +All Resistances, which makes it one of the strongest Talisman options. Under normal rules, players can only have one Unique Charm equipped at a time, but the Hellfire Torch counts separately, so it can sit alongside another Unique Charm.

How the extra-charm bug works

The bug starts when you equip a Seal of the Golden Epiphany, which allows up to 3 Unique Charms to be equipped. After equipping three of them, including the Hellfire Torch, you switch the seal out for a Seal of the Diamond Mind, which allows set bonuses to be reached with fewer charms. The extra Unique Charms stay equipped anyway. The result is a character running a full 5-piece set bonus, the Hellfire Torch and additional Unique Charms all at once, beyond the intended limit.

What this means for your build this season

The triple-charm setup is safe for the rest of Season 15. The interaction has rippled through the community and become a dominant force in the current landscape, and it has plagued the official leaderboards, forcing players to choose between using the same exploit to remain competitive or falling behind in the rankings. Treat it as a season-long perk rather than a permanent part of your character, since Tanguay's wording leaves open both a nerf to the bug and possible changes to Hellfire Torch itself.

What happens after Season 15

A fix is coming eventually, but not until the studio has had more time to investigate the underlying issue. The charm bug is an unintended interaction that will be fixed at some point in the future if Hellfire Torch remains in the game. Tanguay said only that the item's future is being considered, with nothing to announce today.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Hellfire Torch bug getting fixed in Season 15?

No. Blizzard confirmed the interaction is unintended but decided not to make changes to it during the current season.

Why is Blizzard leaving it in?

Because many players have spent significant time earning the Hellfire Torch and building characters around it, and the studio wants to be thoughtful about mid-season adjustments that could disrupt those investments.

Should I build around it?

The setup is safe for the rest of Season 15 with no fix date given, but avoid treating the current charm rules as the game's long-term baseline.

When will it be fixed?

Blizzard wants additional time to investigate the underlying issue and ensure any future changes are implemented correctly. If you would rather not farm the Splinters, Journals and boss fights behind the Charm, the Diablo 4 Hellfire Torch Boost delivers a finished Torch with your chosen Charm Set to your account.
