What the Kappa container is
Kappa is a secure container built on a 3-by-4 grid with 12 slots of protected space. The current item reference counts cases, provisions, medicines and keys among the permitted items, while magazines and some specialized weapon attachments are excluded.
Anything stored inside survives your death, but dying strips the found-in-raid status from that loot, so death protection does not make a hand-in item eligible. Check that an unusual item actually fits before you build a loadout around it.
How to unlock Kappa
On a permanent PvP or PvE character the unlock has four gates:
- Loyalty level 4 with Prapor, Therapist, Skier, Peacekeeper, Mechanic, Ragman and Jaeger.
- Scav karma of at least +3.
- Chemical – Part 3, Sew it Good – Part 2, Shooter Born in Heaven and The Tarkov Shooter – Part 4 completed.
- One found-in-raid copy of every item on Collector's hand-in list.
Before 1.1.0.0 the quest demanded roughly 257 side tasks spread across eight traders; most of that was cut and replaced with the loyalty and Fence thresholds, leaving the four tasks above. Collecting no longer runs alongside a full quest checklist, so your time goes into reputation and the item list instead.
The reward changed with the same patch: the old The Kappa Path achievement can no longer be earned, and Collector now grants Dawn of a New Era.
Trader levels and the level 42 floor
Each of the seven traders must actually display loyalty level 4, which means meeting both a character level and a reputation figure.

Level 42 is simply the highest of those gates, so Collector does not appear automatically on your forty-second level-up if reputation or a prerequisite task is missing. Patch 1.1.0.0 removed the old spending and sales-volume condition, so buying and reselling gear no longer fills a loyalty gap.
Fence is not part of that seven: Collector asks for +3 Scav karma, while his own loyalty level 4 sits at +6. Ref and Lightkeeper are not on the required list.
The four prerequisite tasks
Chemical – Part 3
One of several locations holds the chemical-filled syringe: the breach room is on the Factory offices' third floor. It is a quest-inventory object rather than ordinary loot, so accept the task before searching and treat the raid as a short in-and-out, because failing to extract loses it. Hand it to Skier; the task currently carries a small Jaeger reputation loss.
Sew it Good – Part 2
For hand-in: two WARTECH TV-109 + TV-106 chest rigs, A-TACS FG, found in raid, and two BlackRock chest rigs, Gray, found in raid. The BlackRock rig can be crafted at Lavatory level 2, which saves you searching bodies for both copies. Keep the finished rigs in your stash, since wearing one as your raid rig destroys the status you were saving.
Shooter Born in Heaven
Mechanic only offers this task at loyalty level 4, so its reputation reward cannot be the thing that unlocks it — build Mechanic's reputation through other work first. The current objectives want five PMC headshots with a bolt-action rifle on each of four map pairs, 20 kills in total, and they carry no minimum distance.

Kills made with a secondary weapon do not advance the objective, so check the pair's counter after a raid instead of assuming every headshot counted.
The Tarkov Shooter – Part 4
Jaeger's task follows Part 3 and asks for five PMC kills from over 80 meters with a bolt-action rifle; this one sets a distance but no headshot condition. Pick a spot beyond 80 meters that has clear landmarks, and aim inside the limit with some margin instead of at its edge.
If both shooting tasks are active, one bolt-action headshot on a PMC, taken past 80 meters on a map that qualifies, can complete both together.

Building +3 Scav karma at Fence
Fence reputation is your Scav karma, and it comes from Scav play rather than side tasks. Reference values: a successful Scav extraction gives +0.01; the first vehicle extraction at a location gives +0.20; the first co-op extraction at a location gives +0.25.
Gains from the same extraction shrink with repeated use, so rotate your vehicle and co-op exits instead of expecting the first-use amount every time. If no other changes occur, closing a 0.30 gap requires 30 Scav extractions that succeed, each worth +0.01.
Do not shoot an uncertain target on a Scav run for its gear: the reputation loss can erase several successful runs, and you still have to get the loot out. Once available, Scav tasks from Fence can add to the total; before you reroll one, look at its rewards and any penalty for replacement.
The 44 found-in-raid items
As of 9 September 2026, Collector's hand-in list has 44 items, while the May 2026 revision had 41; an older checklist therefore cannot be used safely as a substitute. Reserve every copy in found-in-raid condition and keep a status note for each name: missing, saved, or handed in.
Names matter. Golden 1GPhone smartphone is not the ordinary phone, WZ Wallet is not Simple wallet, and the item currently reads Glorious E mask rather than the older Glorious E lightweight armored mask title. Armband (Evasion), Old firesteel and Golden rooster figurine are not on the current list, though they still have other uses.
Some pieces are wanted elsewhere too: Ragman's Living High is Not a Crime also asks for Golden eggs, so a single copy may not cover both. Once Collector is active you can hand items over one at a time rather than waiting for the whole set.

Possible marked rooms are Customs dorm room 314 plus Reserve's RB-BK, RB-VO and RB-PKPM; regard a key as an expense distributed across multiple tries, not as buying the item. The Golden egg also has a sacrifice unique to the Cultist Circle that requires a Tigzresq splint, yet both items belong to Collector, so use this only if you have an extra splint.
The hideout's Scav Case returns random items with found-in-raid status; it can help, but it cannot target one specific missing piece.

Found-in-raid rules
A Survived extraction is the usual method; to prevent a Run Through, gain 200 or more in-raid experience through qualifying actions, or remain in the raid for seven minutes at minimum. Death, Run Through, MIA and Left the Action all leave an item short of a qualifying copy.
A hand-in needing found-in-raid status is not satisfied by buying via traders or the flea market, and a purchased item carried into a raid stays unconverted. Craft outputs and quest rewards can carry the status.
Carrying a saved item into another raid removes its found-in-raid status, so a reserved copy stays in the stash until you hand it over.
Stash habits that save the collection
Assign each reserved item a clear place and a corresponding line in your checklist, since wearable items, melee weapons, food and barter goods might not fit in the same container. Prior to a raid, go through your pockets, melee slot, eyewear, face cover and secure-container contents; a found-in-raid Gingy keychain filled with common keys is easy to overlook.
Look before you craft, upgrade the hideout, barter or feed the Cultist Circle, since an item can leave the collection without ever leaving the stash. Prior to turning in a wallet, keychain or another container, transfer what it holds to secure stash storage, and confirm the copy you picked is the reserved one, not a comparable everyday item.
Claim the reward
Collector gives the Kappa secure container and a DEADSKUL armband, plus the achievement Dawn of a New Era. Equip Kappa in the pouch slot and move your old container's contents across deliberately, leaving room for loot instead of filling all 12 slots.
If every item appears delivered but Kappa is missing, finish the task itself and claim the reward — a full objective list and a completed quest are two separate steps. A seasonal character has a separate shortcut: the Kappa Protocol personal modifier hands over the container immediately for 12 modifier points.

Common mistakes
- Using flea-market or trader purchases for a found-in-raid hand-in.
- Treating someone else's example list as the complete hand-in list.
- Chasing combat tasks while a trader's reputation sits below LL4.
- Relying on Shooter Born in Heaven's reputation reward to reach the Mechanic level that unlocks it.
- Holding a Collector item in a secure container and assuming death keeps it eligible.
Frequently Asked Questions
What level do I need for Kappa?
Level 42 is the effective minimum, because Ragman needs character level 42 for loyalty level 4. Level 42 alone does not unlock the quest: every reputation threshold, the +3 Scav karma and all four tasks still have to be done.
Do I still need to finish almost every quest?
No. Patch 1.1.0.0 removed most of the old side-task requirement and replaced it with trader loyalty plus the Fence threshold, keeping only four named tasks. You will still run tasks to earn the reputation those loyalty levels demand.
Does Collector require Fence LL4?
No. Collector needs +3 Scav karma, while Fence's own loyalty level 4 requires +6 — two different thresholds.
