Honor System in Classic WoW

First, it’s important to know a bit about the Honor System so you can find the most suitable gear for your character. Anyhow, with a patch that was released in November 2019, Classic WoW implemented a new Honor System for PvP ranks.

This means that every class has its own two different sets, and every piece of each set can be found in PvP vendors. However, you will have to reach a suitable PvP rank in order to get every piece of an Honor Set.

So, what does one set have to offer? Well, each set is composed out of six pieces and each piece is awarded beginning at 2 pieces, 4 pieces, and 6 pieces.

Keep in mind that 2-pieces and 6-pieces are designed to boost things such as Stamina, Spell Power, and even Attack Power. But, the 4-piece is made to improve spells that your class has.

And, in case we didn’t mention, an Honor PvP System in Classic WoW is made to compare your progress in PvP with other players. In that light, gearing up accordingly is essential!

How to Get PvP Gear in WoW Classic

So, it goes like this:

Once you reach this rank, you will get two pieces of gear – Rare Boots and Rare Gloves.

  • Rank 8 – Knight-Captain/Legionnaire

Rank 8 offers Rare Chests and Rare Legs.

  • Rank 10 – Lieutenant-Commander/Champion

Purchasing these types of sets is only possible at some places in Classic Wow. However, even if you find these places, you can’t purchase any sets until you reach a certain Rank in Honor Set System.

Now, after we sorted this one out, you’ll know exactly which set to get depending on your Rank. And, as we already said, these sets you can only obtain once you climb up on a Rank ladder.

In that light, let’s take a look at where to get your PvP sets.

Ranks 1 Through 5 – Set Vendors

Where Do I Buy Pvp Gear In Classic Wow?

Here are the places where you can get your PvP fear for both parties.

For Alliance Players

In order to buy a suitable gear for PvP as an Alliance character, you will need to find Officer Areyn in Stormwind City. She is located in Old Town, you really can’t miss her, she’s a great Accessories Quartermaster.

For Horde Players

There’s a nice and easy way to equip yourself with decent PvP gear as a Horde player. You will simply need to find Sergeant Ba’sha, she’s a pale Orc with great stuff to offer. Also, it’s easy to find her, she is standing still in the Valley of Strength in a place called Orgrimmar.

Now, what exactly can you purchase there? Well, that depends on the Rank, once again.

You will start with the Rank of Private or Scout, depending on whether you’re Alliance or Horde player. Being in that position, you will acquire at least 15 Honor Kills and therefore you will be rewarded with a Private’s Tabard or Scout’s Tabard.

Next on the list is Corporal or Grunt, and it requires you to get 2000 Rating. Once you climb up to this rating, your reward will be quite promising for someone who just started – the PvP Trinkets. Alliance players will get Insignia of the Alliance, while the Horde guys are rewarded with Insignia of the Horde.

Your next stop on the ranking ladder is 5000 points where you’ll be promoted to a Sergeant. This title will provide you with Sergeant’s Cape or a Sergeant’s Cloak

Continuing with the progress, you will come to the point of 10000 rating where you’re going to reach Master Sergeant or Senior Sergeant. This title is quite rewarding as it gives you Blue-Quality Necklace which is quite beneficial. For Alliance, that’s Master Sergeant’s Insignia, and for the Horde, it’s Senior Sergeant’s Insignia.

Lastly, for a 15000 rating, you will become Sergeant Major or First Sergeant and you’ll get Blue-Quality Bracers for more resistance, durability, and stamina as well.

Now, that’s the place where you’re able to get decent PvP gear for Ranks 1 through 5. So, let’s continue to the next place then.

Keep in mind that gear on this rating is way better than any other gear for PvP. That’s why only 0.1 percent of players are in these ranks.

UPDATE: PvP Gear in The Burning Crusade

Where Do I Buy Pvp Gear In Classic Wow?

Changes are always a big part of every expansion, especially when it comes to crucial stuff like Honor System and PVP Gear. In Classic Wow, the Honor System was a bit complicated as you had to make sure to follow a lot of rules.

However, this thing is completely changed in The Burning Crusade expansion 9.1 patch. So, players are now in for a bit of a treat as there is some really interesting PvP Gear available in TBC expansion.

Therefore, the answer is YES! The Burning Crusade expansion does have PvP gear!

But, it’s not going to be nearly the same as in Classic WoW, especially when it comes to purchasing the gear. TBC expansion is offering players an opportunity to use Honor Points only in order to get better gear, not to increase their position on the ladder board.

How does Honor work in TBC?

The Honor System is changed with the new expansion that came out on June 1st. So, what are the main changes, and what’s the most important thing to know?

Let’s break this down into pieces and explain each part thoroughly.

  1. Ranking System & Honor System

The new expansion brought one significant change when it comes to ranking points in PvP. As of now, the Ranking System doesn’t have anything to do with the Honor System. That’s a good thing, right? Well, for most players it is!

Now, there’s no need to put extra effort when it comes to maintaining a position on the ladder board. However, those who are still practicing a fashion of ranking up, are able to do it in an Arena System. That’s basically a primary activity when it comes to PvP.

  1. Honor Points are now a Currency

Possibly the most impactful change in this patch is that you are now using Honor Points only for trading. Meaning, you can use them in the same fashion as Gold or Silver. Therefore, these points will allow you to get PvP rewards and nothing else.

On top of that, one major change is that Honor Points are now not able to lose any value due to the decay. You can actually use them anytime you want, and there’s no time limit or due date on that.

This opens up a whole new world for those players who like to control their tempo when it comes to acquiring PvP rewards and Gear.

  1. Dishonorable Kills are removed

Due to the fact that your Honor Points will not decay anymore, losing Honor Points is also removed from the game. Simply put, dishonorable kills are now removed and you won’t suffer any penalty if you kill a civilian.

Non-Player Characters are now not set to be civilians, and therefore, there’s no need to worry if you kill them.

How to Earn Honor in Battle?

This part of the PvP world is not affected much by the change. Simply speaking, earning Honor Points, which you will use afterward to get better Gear, is the same as in Classic WoW. Your participation in killing, both in the PvP world as well as in battlegrounds is what counts here.

So, killing your enemies, assisting your allies, doing basically anything in order to stand your ground, will ensure you get a lot of Honor Points. Also, it’s important to mention that Honor Points are split between you and your allies if you’re all grouped up.

It’s basically the same as with the experience. Again, if one group member is much higher level than the others, then low level members will gain fewer honor points.

What about battlegrounds?

They didn’t change that, therefore you will gain Honor Points once you kill other characters there. And, there’s also a way to earn points by doing some objectives. This is not a primary way of getting plenty of points, but surely is a fun way to do it.

Arena Points

When it comes to Arena Points, you can use them for acquiring new PvP gear (70 level epic gear). But, you must know that winning or losing in Arena Match, will affect your ranking and therefore ensure more or fewer points.

It’s good to know that new PvP gear is now featuring more status resistance which is directly affecting your strength and survivability. So, it’s maybe a good idea to aim for this kind of activity. Also, it doesn’t matter what type of Arena Match you play, the result will follow your score.

Furthermore, skirmishes will stay the same, but Arena Rated Matches will have a slight boost. Meaning, you can play this type of match only when the Season is active. And, Season 1 started not so long ago.

Therefore, buckle up and start searching for new matches in this season. While doing so, you will earn titles like:

  • Infernal Gladiator
  • Gladiator
  • Duelist
  • Rival
  • Challenger

Every title has a unique bonus and benefits.

How do you get PvP gear in TBC?

As many of you probably wonder, getting PvP Gear in TBC is not that hard. However, it does require you to put a bit of extra effort into doing it. Before you start gearing up, you should know that TBC Blue Sets are way better than Classic R14 Sets, by far.

First of all, TBC blue gear does have better stats and offers lots of special bonuses. On top of that, it has more gem sockets, which are very important. Also, TBC sets are having a new feature – the Resilience factor.

Resilience is a new stat that reduces periodic damage and reduces chances of getting a critical hit – Sounds nice!

Anyhow, here’s what you should do in order to gear up for PvP.

  1. Prepare while Leveling

The first thing to do is to prepare for the PvP gear by removing your leveling gear in time. It’s a good idea to, once you reach level 70, replace as many items with PvP gear. Sure, but where can you find this PvP gear?

Simple, find a vendor located in Terokkar Forest. There, you can trade a special currency called Spirit Shard and get a starting piece of PvP gear. You can actually get a lot of nice items from this vendor, for example, headpieces or rings.

And yeah, you can obtain Spirit Shards only by killing bosses in aconite dungeons.

  1. Prioritize PvP Sets

After getting some pieces of PvP gear from the vendor, it’s now time to complete a whole set and get that Status Resilience to a high level.

First, you need to go down on the battleground and start piling up Honor Points. That way, you can purchase five slots of gear that is actually a blue PvP set that consists of:

  • Head
  • Shoulder
  • Chest
  • Gloves
  • Pants

Second, after you purchased these primary sets, it’s time to focus on the off-pieces. After spending all Honor Points on items above, start grinding for more points in battlegrounds.

Therefore, you can get:

  • Cloak
  • Belt
  • Boots
  • Bracers
  • Rings
  • Trinkets
  • Necklace

Third, when it comes to weapons, you need to avoid battlegrounds and start focusing on Arena Matches. There, you will get Arena Points and be in shape to purchase a nice PvP weapon.

Piece of advice: Stack with your best weapon until you can purchase a good PvP weapon, don’t just be satisfied with the first thing you can afford.

Conclusion

There you have it! Getting your gear for PvP is not that hard, but, it’s surely beneficial in so many ways. Your only job is to advance and show your values on the battleground and the gear will come naturally.

However, you have to find it, and luckily, we explained to you where to look and what to expect in each rank you find yourself at.
