Spend your Nebulous Voidcore bonus roll on the highest-difficulty Venomous Abyss boss you can kill, because raid rolls now cost one core instead of two and pay out a tier above the Great Vault. The top targets are Mythic Coiled Altar and Ula'tek at ilvl 344, followed by Mythic Venomous Abyss bosses 1 through 6 at ilvl 334. If you cannot clear Mythic, Heroic Venomous Abyss bosses still roll ilvl 318.

Best bosses to spend a Nebulous Voidcore on

Boss or contentItem level from a roll
Mythic Coiled Altar and Ula'tekilvl 344 (Myth 9/6)
Mythic Venomous Abyss bosses 1–6ilvl 334 (Myth 6/6)
Heroic Venomous Abyss, all bossesilvl 318 (Myth 1/6)

Items rolled from Voidcores normally match the level of the loot you would get from that content in the Great Vault, but the Venomous Abyss is the exception and pays out one tier above. Raid bosses in the Venomous Abyss cost one Nebulous Voidcore per roll, down from two in Season 1, which makes the raid an attractive place to coin.

How many Voidcores you get each week

You can earn two Nebulous Voidcores a week in Season 2: one by taking a Voidcore instead of an item from the Great Vault, and one from Orin Straylight's weekly quest. The Great Vault option requires you to have unlocked at least three slots that week. Orin's weekly Voidcore costs 2,000 Voidlight Marl, 100 Veteran Mistcrest, or 5,000 gold.

To unlock Orin's weekly roll, complete "In the Catalyst's Shadow" from Decimus in Voidstorm, then "Prismatic Potential" from Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City, which needs 10 Elementary Voidcore Shards with warband-shared progress. Shards drop from Mythic+, Bountiful Delves and raid bosses on any difficulty. Turning in "Umbral Blessings of the Catalyst" afterwards unlocks the weekly purchase.

Where else to spend a roll

Bonus rolls can be spent after finishing a Mythic+ dungeon, defeating a Venomous Abyss raid boss on any difficulty, completing a Bountiful Delve, or completing Nightmare Prey. Aim for the highest content you can do — ideally a Mythic+ keystone at level 10 or above, Heroic raid, or Mythic raid — to land Myth track gear. Nightmare Prey and Tier 8 Bountiful Delves roll ilvl 305 (Hero 1/6), and +10 Mythic dungeons roll ilvl 318 (Myth 1/6).

Target bosses or instances whose loot table holds several upgrades or Best-in-Slot trinkets rather than spreading rolls thin. Set your loot specialization before you roll, since the roll uses it to decide which loot table can drop. Once you have received an item from a specific loot pool, that item cannot come from a bonus roll again, though it can still drop normally, so your target pool narrows over time.

If you would rather not fight the Mythic Venomous Abyss yourself, a Venomous Abyss Mythic Boost has a team clear the raid for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do raid bosses cost more Voidcores than dungeons?

No. In Season 2 a Venomous Abyss raid boss roll costs one Nebulous Voidcore, the same as a Mythic+ dungeon, a Bountiful Delve, or Nightmare Prey.

Should I take a Voidcore or an item from the Great Vault?

Taking a Voidcore over an item is the stronger choice in most cases, with the usual exception of a Best-in-Slot item on the Mythic+ tab.

Can I catch up on Voidcores I missed?

The weekly cap increases by two each week through the season, and unused cores stay available rather than being lost, so missing a week does not lock you out.
