You get a Craftsman's Writ in WoW Forever by opening a world-drop Sealed Writ or buying a writ on the Auction House. Complete its order by bringing the requested goods and the writ to its customer for trade-faction reputation and a Coin Pouch.
Where to get a Craftsman's Writ
Enemies throughout the world can drop Sealed Writs; opening one produces a random order of the corresponding rank. The sealed ranks include Sealed Journeyman's Writ, Sealed Expert's Writ and Sealed Artisan's Writ.
Writs are tradable Rare-quality items, and the drops tend to match the level of the zone where you are adventuring. Chests offer a higher chance of finding writs during normal adventuring.
How to use the writ
- Open the named writ to accept its crafting-order quest.
- Obtain the exact goods the order requests: you can make them yourself or acquire the finished item from another player.
- Follow the order's map marker to the customer; each writ has its own recipient.
- Keep the writ in your inventory alongside the requested goods until you complete the hand-in.
Crafting the requested item personally is unnecessary, which means an order meant for a different profession can still be fulfilled. We'd use purchased goods when they make an otherwise inaccessible order practical, rather than change professions for a delivery.
Each individual writ quest is daily. For reputation runs, we'd favor different orders with nearby destinations: Arathi Highlands and Hillsbrad Foothills, or Duskwood and Stranglethorn Vale, are suggested delivery pairings.
Heavy Quiver and other writ turn-in locations
Use the destination for your particular order rather than treating every writ as a delivery to the same camp.

| Heavy Quiver | Ziz Fizziks | Stonetalon Mountains. |
| Silver Skeleton Key | Battered Trunk | Duskwood. |
| Small Silk Pack | Kzixx | Duskwood. |
| Heavy Leather Ball | Sos'mol | Alterac Mountains. |
| Ornate Spyglass | Alan Sneeks | Alterac Mountains. |
| Minor Recombobulator | Kzixx | Duskwood. |
| Iridescent Hammer | Cowardly Peon | Ashenvale. |
| Dark Leather Tunic | Kzixx | Duskwood. |
| Practice Lock | Gorgrash | Hillsbrad Foothills. |

These are Journeyman orders.
One player on the official WoW: Forever forums reported a Horde writ turn-in at the Crossroads in the Barrens.

Blue Overalls requirements
The Craftsman's Writ: Blue Overalls starting item requires character level 10 to use. Its quest is available to both factions and cannot be shared.

Bring one Blue Overalls and one matching writ for the transaction. You can check the completion flag for this quest with the following command.

Reputation and Coin Pouch rewards
Your trade faction is the Azeroth Commerce Authority for Alliance or Durotar Supply and Logistics for Horde.
| Writ rank | Base reputation | Example order |
| Journeyman | 75 | Blue Overalls. |
| Expert | 125 | Enchanted Mageweave Pouch. |
| Artisan | 200 | Gift of Arthas. |
The Diplomat Legacy Point talent increases reputation gains by 10%.
Writs versus Waylaid Crates
Writs build reputation, while filling Waylaid Crates and handing them in provides Merchant's Favor and silver. Higher-level profession recipes require both faction standing and increasing amounts of Merchant's Favor.
Your first filled crate also provides a Shipping Label quest item whose turn-in grants a one-time 2,000 reputation boost. We'd start with that first crate if your goal is recipe access, then use writs for further standing: the initial bonus is larger than any individual base writ reward.
Trade camp locations
The Alliance merchant hub is at Three Corners, southwest of Redridge near the Elwynn–Duskwood border. The Horde hub lies just west of the Crossroads in the Barrens.
Two players on the official WoW: Forever forums recommend waiting until you are appropriately leveled for the destination zone before doing crafting crates.
Merchant's Favor from crates
| Filled crate types | Merchant's Favor | Silver |
| Apprentice Textiles or Apprentice Curiosities | 5 | 2.5. |
| Apprentice Fabrics or Apprentice Ingots | 10 | 5. |
| Journeyman Herbs or Journeyman Ore | 10 | 5. |
| Journeyman Fabrics or Journeyman Parts | 20 | 10. |
| Expert Curiosities or Expert Ore | 15 | 7.5. |
| Expert Fabrics or Expert Parts | 30 | 15. |
Performance Bonus gives a 15% chance to receive twice the Merchant's Favor from a crate turn-in.
What faction standing unlocks
Recipe purchases progress through standing requirements including Neutral, Friendly and Honored. Examples include Mageblood Elixir for Alchemy, Loot-A-Rang for Engineering, and Enchant Necklace – Healing Power for Enchanting.
The faction rewards also include a companion pet, a tabard and a license quest that leads to a profession signpost toy; these require Merchant's Favor and the appropriate standing.
The Pack Kodo costs 6,000 Merchant's Favor and requires Exalted with your faction. Reins of the Pack Kodo additionally requires character level 60 and Journeyman Riding, and teaches an account-wide mount.
