TL;DR: To check WoW Forever beta server status, look for Blizzard's latest maintenance posts in WoW: Forever Beta Discussion and service alerts in the Battle.net app. Blizzard announced downtime for October 1 to install a new beta build and raise the level cap to 30. That dated announcement does not establish whether servers are available at the moment you try to log in.
Check maintenance before changing your client
On the official World of Warcraft forums, open In Development → WoW: Forever Beta Discussion. Look for a maintenance topic covering your login attempt, then read the latest replies from Blizzard staff. A player's report of a disconnect can help you spot a pattern, but it does not confirm a service-wide outage or a reopening time.
For the October 1 update, community manager Kaivax announced that the beta would go offline that morning Pacific time and return several hours later with an updated build. His later staff reply said the shutdown was expected in about 45 minutes. Neither message gave a fixed reopening time. Do not turn that estimate into a countdown or apply it to a later disconnect.
Blizzard's general technical guidance also directs players to service notices in the Battle.net app and in-game announcements before troubleshooting a suspected server problem. If a current notice confirms downtime, wait for an update rather than reinstalling the game to fix an unavailable service.
Confirm your Forever beta access and game version
If you cannot install or launch the test, check your Battle.net account's Your Game Accounts section for a World of Warcraft: Forever beta license. An opt-in is a request to participate; selected testers receive access. Blizzard also includes beta access with eligible Forever digital bundles. Purchasers can experience an activation delay of up to 30 minutes and may need to restart the launcher.
In the Battle.net desktop app:
- Select World of Warcraft.
- Open Game Version above the Play button.
- Under In Development, choose World of Warcraft: Forever Beta.
- Install or finish updating that client, then select an available test realm.
The Forever beta license and client are the ones to check. A Midnight license or a Midnight client does not establish access to this test.
Separate a login problem from a reported outage
Use the screen you reach to decide what to check next:
| What you see | Next check |
| You cannot install or launch the beta | Confirm the Forever license and selected game version |
| The client opens, but you cannot enter a realm | Check current maintenance notices and staff replies |
| You can enter the game, but a feature fails | Check the beta's known issues and development notes |
These checks narrow the problem; a failed login alone does not prove that every tester is disconnected. If no current service notice explains it, use Blizzard's Common Technical Issues and Solutions resource, choosing the installation or connection troubleshooting section that matches the failure. When asking for help, include the error message, selected client and region.
What the latest dated updates confirm
Checked October 4, 2026: Blizzard's development-notes topic was updated for the October 1 beta build. A separate staff post about Australian testers receiving an incorrect social-features restriction dialog was marked fixed in an update at 04:00 AEDT on October 4. That fix concerns the dialog; it is not a confirmation that every connection problem has been resolved.
The beta announcement lists October 21, 2026 as the last full day of testing. For the current progression ceiling and available content, see our WoW Forever beta level cap guide. For a new interruption, return to the latest dated maintenance notice before changing your setup.
