You learn the Red Linen Bag recipe in WoW Forever by using Pattern: Red Linen Bag at Tailoring 50. The pattern costs 2 silver 10 copper and is available in Westfall, Darkshore, Thunder Bluff and Silverpine Forest. It teaches you to craft an 8-slot bag.

Where to buy Pattern: Red Linen Bag

These vendors sell the pattern:

VendorLocation
Gina MacGregorWestfall.
ValdaronDarkshore.
MahuThunder Bluff.
Andrew HilbertSilverpine Forest.

The pattern has limited vendor stock; if it has sold out, return later. We'd try a vendor first when your goal is simply to learn the recipe: the listed purchase price avoids relying on a rare drop.

Where the pattern drops

You can also loot the pattern from these enemies:

EnemyLocation and levelRecorded drop rate
Defias LooterWestfall, levels 13–14.1.6%.
Moonrage TailorSilverpine Forest, levels 14–15, elite.1.2%.
Pyrewood TailorSilverpine Forest, levels 14–15, elite.1%.

Defias Looter can be found around Westfall 43.7, 68.5, and Pyrewood Tailor around Silverpine Forest 45.7, 71.2. Treat a drop as a useful find while you're already fighting there, rather than a reason to delay learning the recipe.

Materials and how to craft the bag

Each craft requires the following materials:

MaterialQuantity per bag
Bolt of Linen Cloth4.
Fine Thread1.
Red Dye1.
  1. Make the linen bolts from loose cloth; each bolt uses 2 Linen Cloth.
  2. Buy Fine Thread and Red Dye from a Tailoring Supplies vendor.
  3. Use the pattern to learn its recipe; learning consumes the pattern.
  4. Craft Red Linen Bag through Tailoring; its crafting time is 12.5 seconds, and you do not need a crafting station.

Red Linen Bag is the best early eight-slot choice for its inexpensive linen materials and accessible faction vendors, in the view of some players.

Learning Tailoring early and gaining skill

Where to start Tailoring

Apprentice Tailoring has no character-level requirement and allows you to reach skill 75. These city trainers teach that rank:

TrainerCity and coordinates
Lawrence SchneiderStormwind City, Mage Quarter, Duncan's Textiles: 43.6, 73.8.
Uthrar ThrexIronforge, The Great Forge, Stonebrow's Clothier: 43.6, 28.2.
TriannaDarnassus, Craftsmen's Terrace: 63.6, 21.6.
SnangOrgrimmar, The Drag: 63.0, 49.6.
Victor WardUndercity, Magic Quarter: 70.2, 29.6.
VhanThunder Bluff, Central Bluff: 44.0, 44.6.

Reaching the recipe requirement

Start by making approximately 30 linen bolts from 60 Linen Cloth to progress from skill 1 to 30, then craft Linen Belts; each belt uses one bolt and one Coarse Thread. The belt leveling route continues to 55, so you can leave that route for the bag once you meet its learning requirement.

Early Tailoring paid off for one player.

Skill gains after learning the recipe

The bag recipe turns yellow at skill 75 and gray at 110. Journeyman Tailoring raises your profession cap to 150 and requires character level 10 plus Tailoring 50. Train that rank before trying to progress beyond the Apprentice cap.
