To get Light Hide in WoW Forever, gather it through Skinning, then use Leatherworking to turn it into Cured Light Hide. The cured material goes into 49 Leatherworking recipes, including equipment and a reagent bag.

Where to gather Light Hide

You can gather Light Hide in Westfall, The Barrens, Darkshore, and Loch Modan. Hides are rarer than leather, so several successful skins may be needed before you collect the hides you want.

We'd pair Skinning with Leatherworking for a self-supplied crafter: gathering your own leather, hides, and scales reduces the cost of leveling the crafting profession.

How to get Light Hide in WoW Forever with Skinning

  1. Learn Skinning and carry a Skinning Knife in your bags.
  2. Kill a creature and take all its normal loot.
  3. Use the corpse again if it is marked skinnable and your Skinning skill meets its requirement.
  4. Return to weaker creatures if your skill is too low for the ones you are fighting.

The required Skinning skill belongs to the creature, rather than to the material it yields. Each corpse allows only one skin, including when multiple players in a group have Skinning.

For broader profession progression beyond this material, use our WoW Forever Skinning guide.

How to make Cured Light Hide

The recipe requires Leatherworking skill 30 and consumes one Light Hide plus one Salt for each craft. Buy Salt from a Leatherworking Supplies vendor.

Reach the recipe's skill requirement

You can convert three Ruined Leather Scraps into one Light Leather while that conversion grants skill, then use Light Armor Kits to reach 30. Starting entirely with leather takes approximately 29 kits, each consuming one Light Leather.

Apprentice Leatherworking has no character-level or prior profession-skill requirement, and its skill cap is 75.

Leatherworking trainers teach Cured Light Hide; these are convenient examples, including trainers available to both factions.

Craft a batch for leveling

The early leveling route uses approximately 27 Cured Light Hide crafts from skill 30 to 55, requiring 27 Light Hide and 27 Salt. Yellow and green recipes can require extra attempts, so this is an estimate rather than a guaranteed total.

Train Journeyman once you have Leatherworking 50 and character level 10 to raise your profession cap to 150. At skill 55, the route switches to Embossed Leather Gloves.

Our WoW Forever Leatherworking guide covers the profession beyond this curing step.

What to keep Cured Light Hide for

Save the batch for Light Leather Pants at Leatherworking 100. The route from 100 to 115 uses approximately 22 pairs, each requiring ten Light Leather, one Cured Light Hide, and one Fine Thread.
