Design Inspirations
Tsuru Reef draws on two Battlefield 4 naval maps. Paracel Storm was a benchmark for blending infantry, aircraft, and naval vehicles into one battlefield; Majestic Ikoi Resort pays homage to Hainan Resort. Both show up in the island-hopping structure and the combined-arms flow.
Map Layout

Four combat islands — Yumeji, Kaze, Dusk, and Mist — plus two smaller headquarters islands for NATO and Pax Armata. A large chunk of the map is open water, so the size doesn’t mean constant long infantry runs.
- Yumeji — Majestic Ikoi Resort. Tight hotel-room fighting mixed with outdoor pools and exposed exterior spaces. Close-range weapons dominate indoors; rifles and DMRs stay useful outside. The hotel and villas can be heavily destroyed, so cover shifts as the match goes on.
- Kaze — Mifune Landing and Tsuru Gate. The central rotation anchor. Squads push northwest, northeast, or south using rocks and vegetation for cover. Holding Kaze is less about one flag and more about preserving access to every surrounding island.
- Dusk — Moon Shore and Sunrise Harbor. Close-quarters fighting around a U-shaped naval channel, with houses, warehouses, and a treeline for cover. Engineers can watch boats from shore; Recon gets use from the upper terrain. Move through buildings rather than standing exposed beside the harbor.
- Mist — Tsuru Air Base and Tsuru Port. Military infrastructure and elevated positions, both destructible. The runway supports brief touch-and-go landings but stays exposed. Crossing between Port and Air Base, Crag Arch offers cover from long sightlines, and rubble near a downed helicopter gives temporary protection mid-crossing.
- Secondary landmarks. Mt. Hoshizora and unnamed islands work for Deploy Beacon placement and staging; Hitode Lagoon’s cliff suits temporary long-range overwatch, though threats can approach from several directions. Treat all of these as temporary stops.
- Faction positioning. NATO starts closer to Tsuru Air Base and Port; Pax Armata starts closer to Sunrise Harbor and Moon Shore, with an easier on-foot route onto the main chain. Both headquarters have calmer internal waterways for launching boats.
Best Rotations

Prioritize Kaze early and hold its two sectors — don’t chase every outer flag with your whole team; anchor infantry centrally and let vehicles cover wider rotations. RHIBs move squads fast but aren’t built for prolonged fights, so approach defended islands from more than one angle.
Before a defended shoreline, dive rather than swim on the surface — it clears existing spots, keeps you unspottable underwater, and costs incoming bullets damage the farther they travel. Bridges get camped; shallow inland waterways let infantry bypass some of them without relying entirely on the main crossings.
Destruction
The resort, Air Base, and Port structures can all be torn down over a match, opening new sightlines as elevated positions disappear. Destroy high ground before pushing a defended sector — the map you started with isn’t the one you’ll finish on.
Dynamic Wave System
Open-ocean waves push boats off course and disrupt aim, but also briefly block sightlines and give cover. Inland water is calmer but puts you closer to shore-based Engineers. Underwater, bullets lose damage over distance, diving clears spots, and Drag and Revive still works. Beaching a boat can leave it stuck. Use rough water for concealment on a flank, but don’t expect to fight there.
Naval Vehicles

The 7.7m NSW RHIB is a fast four-seat transport with a mounted machine gun, low durability, and enough agility to hide behind waves — built for flanking and rotations, not slugging it out with an RCB-90.
The RCB-90 is the heavier option: two seats, more health, and a front ramp that opens automatically near shore, letting anyone on the team spawn from it as infantry. Its driver runs an autocannon or HMG, missiles, smoke, and torpedoes or mines, while the gunner operates a 120mm mortar. See our RCB-90 guide for full builds.
Simple rule: RHIB to rotate, RCB-90 to fight.
Turn the RCB-90, jets, helicopters, or any other vehicle into a fully upgraded combat platform with our BF6 Vehicles Leveling. Choose Self-Play or Piloted mode and unlock your selected vehicle’s weapons, modules, upgrades, skins, and camos without spending hours grinding vehicle XP.
Best Classes and Weapons by Area
| Class | Best Tsuru Reef role |
| Engineer | Defend beaches and docks; destroy vehicles and exposed structures |
| Recon | Place Deploy Beacons on secondary islands; watch open-water rotations |
| Support | Resupply Engineers, provide smoke, sustain beach assaults |
| Assault | Clear resort buildings, warehouses, close-range objectives |
Weapon choice follows terrain: BROD 3 and shotguns for interiors and harbor buildings; EF88 for Air Base, Port, and Kaze approaches; VSSM for Hitode Lagoon, Mt. Hoshizora, and water-channel overwatch; LMGs for beach defense. See our Weapons and Attachments guide for full builds.
Prepare the right loadout for every Tsuru Reef sector with our Battlefield 6 Weapon Level Boosting service. We will level your selected weapon, unlock its attachments and optics, and earn the available skins, camos, ribbons, and progression rewards in Piloted mode.
Conquest and Breakthrough

Conquest makes the strongest use of the full island chain and naval rotations. Breakthrough concentrates the fight into fewer sectors, making smoke, shoreline defense, and coordinated beach assaults more important. Look for coastal approaches whenever RHIBs are available rather than sending everyone down the obvious land route; defenders should watch docks and shallow-water crossings alongside the main approach.
Carrier Strike (August 18) adds playable aircraft carriers and combines infantry, naval, and air combat around seizing the enemy carrier — destruction mechanics aren’t confirmed yet. Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep is a jets-only REDSEC mode on a reworked version of the map, built around two-seat fighters and wingman coordination.
Quick Tips
- Capture and hold Kaze early — its central routes give a major rotation advantage.
- Use RHIBs for rotations, not direct combat; keep the RCB-90 moving.
- Dive before approaching a defended beach.
- Use smaller islands for Deploy Beacons, not permanent sniper nests.
- Destroy elevated cover before pushing Air Base or Port.
- Watch shallow-water crossings, not just the bridges.
Tsuru Reef rewards patience in the center and aggression at the edges — hold Kaze, use RHIBs to rotate, use the RCB-90 to fight, and take advantage of destruction as routes and sightlines change.

Frequently Asked Questions
When did Tsuru Reef release in Battlefield 6?
Tsuru Reef launched on July 21, 2026, alongside Battlefield 6 Season 4: Pacific Front. It introduced the season’s naval warfare focus, Dynamic Wave System, and new water vehicles.
Is Tsuru Reef the biggest map in Battlefield 6?
Yes. Tsuru Reef is the largest map released for Battlefield 6 so far. Its combat spaces are spread across four main islands and two smaller headquarters islands, with open water connecting the battlefield.
How is the Tsuru Reef map laid out?
Tsuru Reef is divided across Yumeji, Kaze, Dusk, and Mist islands, plus separate NATO and Pax Armata headquarters islands. Each area supports a different mix of infantry, naval, vehicle, and long-range combat.
What are the main islands and locations on Tsuru Reef?
Yumeji contains Majestic Ikoi Resort, Kaze includes Mifune Landing and Tsuru Gate, Dusk contains Moon Shore and Sunrise Harbor, and Mist includes Tsuru Air Base and Tsuru Port. Secondary landmarks include Mt. Hoshizora, Hitode Lagoon, and Crag Arch.
Which island should you capture first on Tsuru Reef?
Kaze Island should generally be prioritized because it acts as the map’s central rotation anchor. Holding Mifune Landing and Tsuru Gate gives your team easier access to the surrounding islands and helps prevent enemies from controlling the middle.
What are the best rotations and flanking routes on Tsuru Reef?
Hold Kaze with infantry while using RHIBs to pressure outer objectives from different shoreline angles. Smaller islands can serve as temporary staging points, while shallow-water routes let players avoid some predictable bridge chokepoints.
How do you play infantry effectively on Tsuru Reef?
Move through buildings, rocks, vegetation, and shallow waterways instead of crossing exposed ground. Dive when approaching defended beaches to clear active spots and reduce incoming underwater bullet damage, and use boats for long rotations rather than running between distant islands.
What naval vehicles are available on Tsuru Reef?
Tsuru Reef features the 7.7m NSW RHIB and the RCB-90. The RHIB is a fast four-seat transport boat, while the RCB-90 is a heavier two-seat assault vessel with powerful weapons, defensive equipment, a mortar, and a deployment ramp.
What is the difference between the RCB-90 and the 7.7m NSW RHIB?
The RHIB is faster and better for squad transport, flanking, and quick rotations, but it has low durability. The RCB-90 is slower and more heavily armored, making it better for direct naval combat, shoreline suppression, and beach assaults.
How does the Dynamic Wave System work on Tsuru Reef?
Open-ocean waves push boats off course, disrupt passenger and gunner aim, and temporarily block sightlines. Waves can also provide cover, while inland water is calmer and easier to navigate. Underwater bullets lose damage over distance, and diving removes active spots.
What are the best classes to use on Tsuru Reef?
Engineers are valuable for destroying boats and defending shorelines. Recon players can watch open-water routes and place Deploy Beacons on secondary islands, Support players can resupply Engineers and sustain beach pushes, and Assault players are effective when clearing buildings and close-range objectives.
What are the best weapons and loadouts for Tsuru Reef?
The BROD 3 and shotguns suit resort interiors, houses, and warehouses. The EF88 works well around the Air Base, Port, and medium-range approaches, while the VSSM is useful for long-range overwatch from cliffs and secondary islands. LMGs are effective for defending beaches and suppressing boat landings.
How does destruction change Tsuru Reef’s routes and sightlines?
The hotel and villas at Majestic Ikoi Resort, along with structures around Tsuru Air Base and Tsuru Port, can be heavily destroyed. Removing buildings and elevated positions opens new routes, exposes defenders, and changes the available cover as a match progresses.
How should you play Tsuru Reef in Conquest and Breakthrough?
Conquest emphasizes control of the full island chain, central rotations, and frequent use of boats. Breakthrough concentrates combat into fewer sectors, making smoke, beach assaults, shoreline defense, and alternative coastal approaches more important.
When are aircraft carriers and Carrier Strike coming to Tsuru Reef?
Playable aircraft carriers and Carrier Strike arrive on August 18, 2026, during the Top Gun phase. The expansion increases Tsuru Reef’s playable area and adds combined infantry, naval, and air combat around capturing and destroying the enemy carrier.
