TBC Blacksmithing Guide: Level 1-375 Fast

Level Blacksmithing from 1 to 375 in TBC Classic on a client-derived 20-band route that runs from Rough Sharpening Stone to Enchanted Adamantite Belt and expects 470 crafts across 37 materials. The route gives the craft order, material totals, trainers, the recipes you must buy or farm, the 360-375 finish options and the price of the whole run on the Anniversary realms. At current auction house prices that run's materials come to 12,412g on US realms and 15,263g on EU realms.

This Blacksmithing leveling guide follows the skill colours read from the TBC client, so the craft counts are averages: half of all runs need more crafts than the number shown.

The route consumes 37 distinct materials; the ten largest requirements are below.

Trainers

You can train Journeyman, Expert and Artisan Blacksmithing at trainers in each major city; visiting separate trainers for those ranks is not required. To train past 300, go to a Master Blacksmith in Outland: Rohok at Thrallmar for Horde and Humphry at Honor Hold for Alliance.

Required recipes

Vendor plans are bind-on-pickup, so you must travel to the vendor yourself.

• Plans: Adamantite Cleaver: skill 330, sold for 4g by Aaron Hollman in Shattrath City, Arras in The Exodar and Eriden in Silvermoon City.
• Plans: Lesser Ward of Shielding: skill 340, sold for 6g by Mari Stonehand in Wildhammer Stronghold in Shadowmoon Valley and Rohok in Thrallmar; it is limited supply. The recipe is yellow when learned but good to 350 because it uses little material.
• Plans: Adamantite Weightstone: skill 350, sold by Fedryen Swiftspear in Zangarmarsh for 6g and requires Honored with Cenarion Expedition.
• Plans: Khorium Belt: skill 360, drops from Murkblood Raiders in Nagrand and has a low drop rate.

Alternate recipes

At 235-265, Mithril Spurs are an alternative to mithril pieces if you can get the plan; the recipe turns yellow at 255 and green at 265. An Imperial Plate route runs Imperial Plate Belt 265-270, Imperial Plate Bracers 270-295 and Imperial Plate Boots 295-300; the plans come from Derotain Mudsipper in Tanaris for 10, 10 and 20 Thorium Bars. At 300-325, you can keep crafting Imperial Plate Boots if Thorium Bars are cheaper than Fel Iron Bars.

360-375 finish options

• Enchanted Adamantite Belt: recipe from Quartermaster Enuril, Friendly with The Scryers; it is the easiest and usually cheapest option, but the belt does not sell well. Craft 17; it is yellow for the last 10 points.
• Felsteel Gloves: the recipe is a drop from Auchenai Monks inside Auchenai Crypts, normal mode included, and it only drops when a Blacksmith is in the group. Craft 17; it is yellow for the last 5 points. With Mining, make them from 612 Fel Iron Ore and 408 Eternium Ore.
• Khorium Belt: plans drop from Murkblood Raiders in Nagrand with a low rate. Craft 17 using 51 Khorium Bar, 34 Primal Water and 34 Primal Mana.
• Flamebane Gloves: recipe from Quartermaster Endarin, Honored with The Aldor; it uses Primals and is expensive early in a phase. At Revered, switch to Flamebane Breastplate at 371 because it is orange.

Specializations

At 200 Blacksmithing and character level 40, choose Armorsmithing or Weaponsmithing; you do not have to choose immediately, and it is unlikely to make leveling cheaper or quicker. The recipes each line makes are not tradable, and the unique equipment they produce is bind-on-pickup.

• Armorsmithing: Breastplate of Kings and Nether Chain Shirt; Breastplate of Kings upgrades to Bulwark of Kings and Bulwark of the Ancient Kings, a strong plate chest with 3 sockets.
• Axesmith: two-hand Lunar Crescent upgrades to Mooncleaver and Bloodmoon, a good Hunter axe; one-hand The Planar Edge upgrades to Black Planar Edge and Wicked Edge of the Planes.
• Hammersmith: two-hand Thunder upgrades to Deep Thunder and Stormherald, with a chance-on-hit stun from Deep Thunder that makes it strong PvP for Arms Warriors and Retribution Paladins; one-hand Drakefist Hammer upgrades to Dragonmaw and Dragonstrike.
• Swordsmith: two-hand Lionheart Blade upgrades to Lionheart Champion and Lionheart Executioner; one-hand Fireguard upgrades to Blazeguard and Blazefury, held back by its fast attack speed.

Change specialization by paying 100g to unlearn at your specialization trainer. The specialization quests come from Krathok Moltenfist in Orgrimmar or Myolor Sunderfury in Ironforge, and the sub-specialization quests from Seril Scourgebane, Lilith the Lithe and Kilram in Everlook once at level 50 and 250 Blacksmithing.

Fast leveling tips

Level Mining alongside Blacksmithing; the bar consumption is enormous, and buying everything from the Auction House gets expensive. Purchase materials one bracket at a time rather than in a single go, since the cost of bars jumps near raid nights and again at phase launches. Train the next rank before you craft into a new bracket, and train Master Blacksmithing as soon as you reach Outland. Grab a Blacksmithing Hammer for a few copper from the supply vendor close to your trainer rather than purchasing one on the Auction House.

What Leveling Blacksmithing Costs on Anniversary Realms

The whole 1-375 route costs 12,412g on US realms and 15,263g on EU realms in materials bought at the scan's prices. Costs are for materials bought at the US October 30, 2026 and EU October 31, 2026 scans, prices differ by realm, and materials you gather yourself cost no gold.

On US, the most expensive steps are 360-375 Enchanted Adamantite Belt at 2,872g (23% of the route), 300-315 Dark Iron Plate at 2,517g (20%) and 345-360 Adamantite Breastplate at 1,933g (16%). On EU, they are 300-315 Dark Iron Plate at 4,223g (28%), 360-375 Enchanted Adamantite Belt at 3,372g (22%) and 345-360 Adamantite Breastplate at 2,390g (16%).
