Updated October 17, 2026 for the TBC Anniversary realms.

To level Alchemy from 1 to 375 on TBC Anniversary realms, craft basic Azeroth potions through level 300 before transitioning to Outland elixirs and mana draughts. Reaching Outland unlocks Master training alongside specialized branches that provide extra crafts. Following an optimized route avoids dead-end recipes and minimizes herb costs along the way.

Required Materials

Because skill-ups on yellow recipes are not guaranteed, exact reagent numbers will vary depending on your crafting luck. You can gather these herbs yourself or acquire them from the Auction House.

Classic Reagents (1–300)

Outland Reagents (300–375)

Alchemy Trainers

Apprentice through Artisan ranks are available from trainers in every faction capital city. Master Alchemy (300–375) requires visiting Outland.

  • Horde Classic Trainers: Yelmak in Orgrimmar, Doctor Herbert Halsey in Undercity, Bena Winterhoof in Thunder Bluff, and Camberon in Silvermoon City.
  • Alliance Classic Trainers: Lilyssia Nightbreeze in Stormwind, Tally Berryfizz in Ironforge, Ainethil in Darnassus, and Lucc in The Exodar.
  • Outland Master Trainers: Alchemist Gribble at Honor Hold for Alliance, Apothecary Antonivich at Thrallmar for Horde, and Lorokeem in Shattrath City for both factions.

Leveling your profession alongside a utility trade like TBC First Aid Guide 1-375 for Anniversary Realms ensures your character remains fully supplied with recovery tools while exploring Outland.

Essential Vendor Recipes

Two critical Outland recipes are Bind on Pickup and must be bought directly from specific faction merchants for 5 gold each:

  • Recipe: Super Mana Potion: Sold by Haalrun at Telredor in Zangarmarsh for Alliance, and by Daga Ramba at Thunderlord Stronghold in Blade's Edge Mountains for Horde.
  • Recipe: Major Dreamless Sleep Potion: Sold by Leeli Longhaggle at Allerian Stronghold in Terokkar Forest for Alliance, and by Daga Ramba in Blade's Edge Mountains for Horde.

Alchemy Specializations

At character level 68 and Alchemy skill 325, you can complete a questline to adopt one of three masteries: Potion Master, Elixir Master, or Transmutation Master. Specializations grant roughly a 17% average chance to proc extra items when crafting that category.

  • Potion Master: Requires turning in a Botanist's Field Guide from High Botanist Freywinn in The Botanica and 5 Major Dreamless Sleep Potions to Lauranna Thar'well at Cenarion Refuge.
  • Elixir Master: Requires turning in 10 Essences of Infinity from The Black Morass, 5 Elixirs of Major Defense, 5 Elixirs of Mastery, and 5 Elixirs of Major Agility to Lorokeem in Shattrath. This specialization boosts both elixirs and flasks.
  • Transmutation Master: Requires delivering 4 Primal Mights to Zarevhi at the Stormspire in Netherstorm.

You can switch masteries later by paying 150 gold to your current specialization NPC to unlearn it, allowing you to pick a new specialization from its respective trainer without completing its initial quest. Because Primal Mights are expensive, completing the Elixir Master quest and paying 150 gold to respec is the cheapest way to unlock Transmutation Master.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the elixir stacking rules in TBC Classic?

Consumable elixirs are categorized as either Battle or Guardian elixirs, allowing you to have one active buff of each type at the same time. Flasks count as both types at once, persist through character death, and require an Alchemy Lab in Shattrath City to brew.

Do TBC transmutations have a cooldown?

Outland transmutations share a 20-hour cooldown across recipes such as Primal Might and Skyfire Diamond, and classic Vanilla transmutes such as Transmute: Fire to Earth also have a 20-hour cooldown.
