Tailoring Materials Shopping List
Before beginning, gather or purchase all materials, and look at your realm's Auction House before anything else—particularly for Runecloth and Silk, since prices for these can rise quickly when an economy is new. The list below is the baseline route's approximate shopping list.
| Material | Quantity |
| Linen Cloth | 204 |
| Wool Cloth | 135 |
| Silk Cloth | 804 |
| Mageweave Cloth | 470 |
| Runecloth | 940 |
| Netherweave Cloth | 2,976 |
| Arcane Dust | 204 |
| Knothide Leather | 10 |
| Netherweb Spider Silk | 34 |
For 280-300 you also need one of 100 Rugged Leather, 50 Gold Bar or 25 Dream Dust, and the Dream Dust route adds 250 extra Runecloth. Hold off on buying Netherweb Spider Silk until 360-375; lucky Mechanar patterns can remove the need. Skill-up luck can change these amounts.
Tailoring Trainer Locations
From 1-300 you can learn all ranks at any major city trainer, so you do not need to hunt specific NPCs across Azeroth.
- Horde: Magar in Orgrimmar, Josef Gregorian in Undercity and Keelen Sheets in Silvermoon City.
- Alliance: Georgio Bolero in Stormwind, Jormund Stonebrow in Ironforge and Refik in The Exodar.
Learn Journeyman at level 10, Expert at level 20 and Artisan at level 35 before the matching cloth stretch. For Master Tailoring, go to Dalinna at Thrallmar for Horde or Hama at Honor Hold for Alliance, both in Hellfire Peninsula; train it as soon as you enter Outland.
Leveling Tailoring 1-300
For the TBC Tailoring guide route, convert cloth into bolts first and keep them, because later crafts use them. The route below follows the baseline steps.
| Skill | Craft | Notes |
| 1-45 | Bolt of Linen Cloth | 102 bolts from 204 Linen Cloth |
| 45-70 | Linen Belt | craft until 70 |
| 70-75 | Reinforced Linen Cape | 5 crafts |
| 75-100 | Bolt of Woolen Cloth | 45 crafts |
| 100-110 | Simple Kilt | 13 crafts |
| 110-125 | Double-stitched Woolen Shoulders | 15 crafts |
| 125-145 | Bolt of Silk Cloth | 201 crafts |
| 145-160 | Azure Silk Hood | 18 crafts |
| 160-170 | Silk Headband | 10 crafts |
| 170-175 | Formal White Shirt | 5 crafts |
| 175-185 | Bolt of Mageweave | 94 crafts |
| 185-205 | Crimson Silk Vest | 20 crafts |
| 205-215 | Crimson Silk Pantaloons | 10 crafts |
| 215-220 | Orange Mageweave Shirt | 5 crafts |
| 220-230 | Black Mageweave Gloves | 10 crafts |
| 230-250 | Black Mageweave Headband | craft through 250 |
| 250-260 | Bolt of Runecloth | keep every bolt |
| 260-280 | Runecloth Belt | 25 crafts |
| 280-300 | Brightcloth Cloak, Mooncloth or Runecloth Gloves | pick whichever is cheapest |
For 280-300, Brightcloth Cloak is usually the cleanest choice if Gold Bars are not too expensive.

Leveling Tailoring 300-375
For much of this section, you need Netherweave Cloth obtained from Outland humanoids and dungeons in Hellfire Peninsula; the top place to farm it is Legion Hold in Shadowmoon Valley, thanks to quick respawns and a high drop rate for cloth. The 300-375 route is below.
| Skill | Craft | Notes |
| 300-325 | Bolt of Netherweave | keep every bolt |
| 325-340 | Bolt of Imbued Netherweave | 102 crafts, 204 Arcane Dust |
| 340-350 | Netherweave Robe | trainable recipe |
| 350-360 | Netherweave Tunic | recipe from Eiin |
| 360-375 | Imbued Netherweave Tunic or Mechanar patterns | buy spider silk late |
The 360-375 stretch can use Imbued Netherweave Tunic or the dungeon-drop Arcanoweave patterns. Pattern: Arcanoweave Boots drops from Sunseeker Astromages in The Mechanar and requires Tailoring 360; Pattern: Arcanoweave Robe drops from Pathaleon the Calculator in The Mechanar and requires Tailoring 370. Pattern: Imbued Netherweave Tunic is sold by Arrond in Shadowmoon Valley and needs at least Neutral with The Scryers.
Mana Loom Location and Recipes
Bolt of Imbued Netherweave must be crafted at the Mana Loom in Shattrath City's Lower City at /way 66.0, 68.0. Eiin in Shattrath City sells the Pattern: Bolt of Imbued Netherweave; the vendor stands right beside the loom. Pattern: Imbued Netherweave Tunic is sold by Arrond in Shadowmoon Valley at /way 55.8, 58.2. The other vendor patterns are from Eiin in Shattrath.
Tailoring Specializations
At level 60 with 350 Tailoring skill you can start the specialization quest by visiting the trainers in Shattrath's Lower City. Choose Spellfire, Shadoweave or Mooncloth Tailoring. Each specialization unlocks a cooldown cloth and a BoP epic set, and lets you craft two of your specialty cloth per cooldown instead of one. All three specialization trainers sit close together in the Lower City district, near the Mana Loom.

The US column uses the October 22, 2026 scan and the EU column the October 23, 2026 scan. These are regional averages rather than one realm's prices, and materials you gather yourself cost no gold.
At skill 340-345, a Netherweave Boots step costs 52g 29s on US realms where a Netherweave Robe step costs 67g 2s. At skill 340-345, the same Netherweave Boots step costs 52g 87s on EU realms where the Netherweave Robe step costs 66g 6s.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a gathering profession for Tailoring?
No. Cloth drops from humanoids while you level, and Enchanting is the usual pairing because you can disenchant the gear you craft.
Can I skip Netherweb Spider Silk?
Possibly. If you get the Arcanoweave Boots or Arcanoweave Robe pattern from The Mechanar, you may not need the silk at all, so buy it late.
Is Tailoring good with Enchanting?
Yes. Tailoring goes well with Enchanting because neither profession needs a gathering skill, and Enchanting lets you disenchant the gear Tailoring makes.
