10 Versus 25 GotR Achievement Differences

Glory Of The Icecrown Raider Full Overview

There aren’t many WoW raids with two variations of GotR meta-achievements. Later expansions abandoned this idea in favor of stretching the number of participants and adding another difficulty level – Mythic. So, we may say that these meta-achievements are examples of endangered species. There is even an additional achievement in a 25-ppl version that does not exist in a 10-ppl variation. All others are technically the same, but because of the number of players, they sometimes require a different approach to success.

Glory of the Icecrown Raider: Instance Location

Glory Of The Icecrown Raider Full Overview

Both meta-achievements take place inside the Icecrown Citadel raid – the last and the most difficult instance for the Wrath of the Lich King Classic. It is located in the Icecrown zone and has 13 encounters with Arthas Menethil, the Lich King himself at the very end. You may find the entrance to the instance by coordinates: 53.4 85.8.

The closest flight point is Dalaran, actually, so it’s quite easy to get to the raid right after you’ve teleported into the capital.

The raid has two variations for 10 and 25 players and the first ever complete heroic mode. So, basically, there are four variations of this raid.

The loot is great, surely. The most famous loot items are a legendary weapon – Shadowmourne, two-handed axe for Paladins, Death Knights, and Warriors, and the Lich King’s horse – Invincible. Now this is a horse! Champions from all over the world spend years trying to get it. If you are one of them and just can’t stand these views and locations any longer, use our Invincible boosting service. Forget about visiting this icy castle every week and let us get the mount for you.

Rewards

Glory Of The Icecrown Raider Full Overview

For the 25 people variation, players will receive the Reins of the Icebound Frostbrood Vanquisher.

Glory of the Icecrown Raider Achievements Detailed Description

Glory Of The Icecrown Raider Full Overview

This particular Glory of the Raider meta-achievement may be completed on any difficulty of the raid, but easier, of course, to do it in Normal mode. However, four achievements should be done on Heroic difficulty only. There are group and solo achievements, and tactics may vary. We will give here tips and pieces of advice for both variations at the same time, but point out some differences if there are any.

Heroic: The Plagueworks

Description: Defeat the bosses of The Plagueworks in Icecrown Citadel in 10 or 25-player Heroic mode. They are: Rotface, Festergut, and Professor Putricide.

What to do: No time limits and nothing special, just follow regular tactics and finish encounters successfully.

Heroic: The Frostwing Halls

Description: Defeat the bosses of The Frostwing Halls in Icecrown Citadel in 10 or 25-player Heroic mode. You are to: Rescue Valithiria Dreamwalker and kill Sindragosa.

What to do: Again, use your regular group and tactics. There aren’t any additional requirements.

Full House

Description: Defeat Lady Deathwhisper with at least five different types of Cultists active at the time of her demise.

What to do: Five different cultists must be alive when the boss dies. They are Deformed Fanatic, Reanimated Fanatic, Reanimated Adherent, Cult Fanatic, and Cult Adherent. The adds have several spawn spots and proportions but always 3 at a time. It may either be 2 Adherents and 1 Fanatic, or 2 Fanatics and 1 Adherent. Mark the adds you need not to cause a mess.

Kite around a Deformed Fanatic and don’t let it hit anyone, as it one-shots everybody but a tank. It is better to use a Hunter due to their kiting abilities.

Make sure you have a decurser for the Curse of Torpor.

I’ve Gone and Made a Mess

Description: Defeat the Deathbringer before Mark of the Fallen Champion is cast three times in 10-ppl mode or five times in 25-player mode.

What to do: Saurfang casts Mark of the Fallen Champion every time he reaches 100 Blood Power, so eliminate him after the second or the fourth cast. If you experience some troubles, just let one or two players, who have a Mark of the Fallen Champion on them, die. Blood Power will accumulate slower and you will have more time to deal with the boss in such a way.

Flu Shot Shortage

Description: Defeat Festergut while none of the players in your raid group ever had 3 stacks of Inoculated in 10 or 25-player mode.

What to do: First and most important thing: you may have only two stacks of Inoculated.

To reduce heavy incoming damage, use your defensive cooldowns right before the boss casts Pungent Blight. Try killing Festergut before the second cast of Pungent Blight because most of your damage-reducing cooldowns won’t be back up again, and the damage is severe.

It’s better to wipe and start over if someone has three stacks. Healers are very important here, so make sure you’ve got your backs covered.

The Orb Whisperer

Description: Defeat the Blood Council without anyone in the raid taking over 23,000 spell damage in a single hit in 10-player mode and not more than 25,000 spell damage in 25-ppl mode.

What to do: One of the tanks for this encounter should be ranged – a Warlock usually.

There are only three spells, you should concentrate on:

An Empowered Shock Vortex cast by Valanar.  Spread out to avoid damage to several players at once.

An Empowered Ball of Flames from Taldaram. The further the targeted player runs, the less damage they take.

An Empowered Shadow Lance from Keleseth. The most troublesome part of the achievement. Try keeping four stacks of the Dark Nucleus at all times to receive less damage.

Warlock tank is better to use a demonology build to share damage with a pet. The tank chooses a Felhunter, while other Warlocks use Voidwalkers.

Portal Jockey

Description: Enter every portal spawned by Valithria Dreamwalker before healing her to full health in 10 or 25-player mode.

What to do: This is not a personal achievement, meaning each time portals spawn, every one of them should be occupied. The portals disappear a few seconds after they have spawned, so make sure you have someone to enter it.

Been Waiting a Long Time for This

Description: Allow Necrotic Plague to stack to 30 before defeating the Lich King in 10 or 25-player mode.

What to do: A very important note: Necrotic Plague gains a stack each time it kills – not every time it jumps to another player. If there isn’t anyone around – the debuff will fade. Also, do not mix Plague Siphon with Necrotic Plague, as both will stack on you. An off-tank should take care of adds; avoid any AOE spells. Minimize your Lich King damage not to transfer it to the second phase. The first player to get a debuff runs away from other party members and gets rid of it. The second Necrotic Plague is placed on adds. Try to remove all following debuffs somewhere away without dispelling them, as each dispel removes a stack. Wait till you have all 30 stacks and continue the combat with Arthas.

Heroic: Storming the Citadel

Description: Defeat the first four bosses in Icecrown Citadel in 10 or 25-player Heroic mode.

What to do: The bosses under requirement are: Lady Deathwhisper, The Deathbringer, Lord Marrowgar, Claim victory in the Gunship Battle.

Heroic: The Crimson Hall

Description: Defeat the bosses of The Crimson Hall in Icecrown Citadel in 10 or 25-player Heroic mode.

What to do: Defeat these encounters: Blood Prince Council, Blood-Queen Lana’thel.

Boned

Description: Defeat Lord Marrowgar with no raid member remaining impaled for more than 8 seconds in 10 or 25-player mode.

What to do: Everyone except tanks should stay right in the boss’ model from behind and watch Bone Spike Graveyard to be cast. Do massive AOE to destroy it ASAP.

NB: Hunters may disturb you, so they should join others only while the boss casts this particular spell.

I’m on a Boat

Description: Claim victory in the Gunship Battle without any raid member visiting the enemy gunship more than twice in 10-player mode and more than once in 25-ppl mode.

What to do: Divide your party into regular 5-ppl groups with a tank, healer, and three DDs. You may have fewer tanks if they can withstand two enemy mages. Get back as soon as you have killed a mage and stay there till the end of a fight.

NB: You will fail the achievement if anyone dies on an enemy ship.

Dances with Oozes

Description: Defeat Rotface without a Big Ooze casting Unstable Ooze Explosion in 10 or 25-player mode.

What to do: Large Oozes, which spawn throughout the encounter, should not reach 5 stacks; let them stick to the chosen target to achieve this goal. Your DPS should be rather high or oozes will surround you. Don’t let oozes merge – OT should kite one of them if needed. OT also has to taunt large oozes to prevent raid damage. MT can run through the slime, but the healers should be on guard. Having talented healers is a key to success in this fight.

Another strategy allows merging oozes till they have 4 stacks. This makes the fight less crowded, but requires better control over the situation.

Nausea, Heartburn, Indigestion…

Description: Defeat Professor Putricide without using Regurgitated Ooze on the Abomination in 10 or 25-player mode.

What to do: The abomination under a player’s control uses several abilities and Regurgitated Ooze is one of them. Try to kill a green slime as fast as you can with a help of a friendly abomination as it will most certainly reach its target without the slowing debuff. Use a swiftness potion to kite red slimes.

Once Bitten, Twice Shy

Description: Defeat Blood-Queen Lana’thel once as a vampire and again without becoming a vampire in 10 or 25-player mode.

What to do: Note that your death, at any point of a fight in any form, prevents you from getting credit. The less damage you do, the fewer chances to become a vampire you have.

All You Can Eat

Description: Defeat Sindragosa in 10 or 25-player mode without any member of your raid receiving more than 5 stacks of Mystic Buffet.

What to do: Pets should not count toward the achievement’s credit, so use them fearlessly. You may put ice tombs in two places closer to the boss and move between them, facing the boss in different directions. Select two players who will destroy needless tombs. Healers stay behind the tombs so they could still reach a tank. Paladins are the best tanks for this achievement.

A useful tip: if your tank has too many stacks already but doesn’t have enough time to hide, let him stay right in the marked area and freeze. The whole raid frees a tank first, and a marked player after.

Neck-Deep in Vile

This is a 25-ppl mode-only achievement – there isn’t any alternative for a 10-player version.

Description: Kill every Vile Spirit that spawns before it explodes and then defeat the Lich King in 25-player mode.

What to do: Gather as many Shadow Priests, Warlocks, and Mages as you can. MDDs should stick to the boss, while RDDs keep focusing on spirits. Use slowing abilities and cooldowns.
