HoYoverse has just released the character Teaser for Varesa: The Legend of a Warrior, and it’s packed with action, lore, and a touch of the unexpected.
The Legend Behind the Mask
Varesa, a warrior with unparalleled strength, dons a mask that once belonged to Feitena. Feitena was a disciple of Wanjiru, a figure who lived in the shadows of greatness—without a Vision, a grand title, or legendary feats. However, Feitena’s moment came during the chaotic power struggles that followed the Pyro Archon’s departure 500 years ago.
As warring tribes vied for control, Feitena shattered a blade upon the Council Chamber table, a moment so forceful that the table broke into thousands of pieces, resembling sparks. This act reminded the chiefs of their duty, ultimately reuniting the tribes and preserving their nation’s legacy. Feitena later joined the battle against the Abyss, fighting alongside other heroes until time caught up with her. Before passing, she entrusted her mask to Taika, Bona’s father (from the Cinder City world quest), cementing the mask’s significance in history.
A Teaser That Feels Like a Comic Book
Fans have been quick to praise the teaser’s unique animation style. Unlike Mizuki’s dreamlike sequence, Varesa’s teaser is dynamic and action-packed, reminiscent of a high-energy comic book fight scene. This shift in style perfectly matches her luchador-inspired persona, making her stand out as a powerful, unbothered queen.

Canon Eating During Battle?!
One of the most amusing takeaways from the teaser is the revelation that eating mid-battle is now canon. At one point, Varesa is seen chowing down on Blazed Meat Stew and Volcano Cakes while fighting, reinforcing the long-standing in-game mechanic where food buffs enhance combat. Yes, that means every time you spam Sweet Madame during a boss fight, you’re just following Genshin lore!
