Updated October 31, 2026 for Midnight Season 2 (Patch 12.1.5).

The best WoW addons for Midnight Season 2 include EllesmereUI for a complete interface, Danders Frames for healing displays, Details! for combat analysis, and DBM or BigWigs for encounter warnings. Build your setup around the jobs you need help with, then add optional tools only when they solve a specific problem.

Start with Midnight's built-in tools

Midnight restricts access to some combat information while providing native interface tools including damage meters, boss timers, expanded raid frames and a Cooldown Manager. WeakAuras, OmniCD and Hekili are unavailable in Midnight, so old setups depending on them need replacements.

Enable the native tools before deciding which WoW addons you need:

  1. Open Options > Gameplay > Gameplay Enhancements, then enable Damage Meter, Cooldown Manager and Enable Boss Warnings.
  2. For audio assistance, open Options > Accessibility > Audio Assist and enable Combat Audio Alerts, then choose the cues you want.
  3. In Patch 12.1.5, configure Pulse Your Health to repeat a warning below your chosen health percentage; the warning intensifies as your health falls.
  4. Check the native raid-frame options for an animated dashed dispel border and a pulsing dispel overlay.

Patch 12.1.5 also places coordinates beneath the minimap, with options to hide them or show whole numbers or decimals. Try that display before installing a separate coordinates tool.

All-in-one interface suites

EllesmereUI

EllesmereUI divides its interface into independent modules, so you can activate the parts you want instead of enabling the whole package. Its complete replacement includes raid frames, a damage meter and convenience features, with a lightweight, customizable design recommended for Holy Paladin in Patch 12.1.5.

Choose it when you want a coordinated interface without assembling every element separately.

ElvUI and WindTools

ElvUI customizes most of the interface, including unit frames, action bars, chat and nameplates, and supports imported profiles through Wago.io. Use a profile as your starting point if you would rather adjust an existing layout than build one from scratch.

WindTools requires ElvUI and adds further options, including a configurable top bar for the clock, latency and micro-menu shortcuts. Add it only if those extras serve a purpose in your layout.

Unit frames, raid displays and nameplates

Danders Frames

Danders Frames lets you choose which buffs, debuffs, dispel overlays and absorbs appear, and limit the number of aura icons shown. Its Aura Designer is a feature one Patch 12.1.5 Holy Paladin guide personally recommends for players who want more control over buff and debuff presentation than the default raid frames provide.

Prioritize readable healing information over filling every available indicator slot.

Grid2

Grid2 replaces party and raid frames, includes four starter profiles, and lets you select tracked elements through checkboxes. Choose it if you want a ready-made starting layout with configurable indicators.

Better Blizz Frames

Better Blizz Frames changes individual frames such as your player, target and focus displays, with importable presets, party cast bars and absorb indicators. This is an option when individual unit frames need work but you do not want a complete interface replacement.

Plater or Platynator

Plater offers extensive nameplate customization and profile imports, while Platynator emphasizes simpler controls designed around Midnight's addon restrictions. Both can provide threat colors, cast bars and target highlighting for dungeon pulls.

Use Plater for deeper tuning or Platynator for a simpler setup. Pick one nameplate replacement to avoid competing layouts.

For a Plater profile, open Plater > Profiles > Import, paste its string and enter /reload.

Cooldowns, resources and WeakAuras replacements

Cooldown Manager display addons

Since Patch 12.1, Blizzard's Cooldown Manager supports trinkets, potions and racials, with layouts you can export and import as strings. PopAuras, Better Cooldown Manager, Cooldown Manager Tweaks and Cooldown Master provide display options on top of it.

Arc UI offers freely positioned icons, configurable glow borders and bars for damage-over-time abilities. Cooldown Manager Centered is another option when your main concern is centering and repositioning cooldown displays.

Choose one display approach, then group the information you need to read together. Role-specific priorities are:

RoleWhat to organize together
TankActive mitigation, defensive cooldowns, racial abilities, healthstone and potion.
HealerYour HoTs, mana and major healing cooldowns, with External Defensives available as a native Edit Mode display.
DamageBurst cooldowns, enabling procs, on-use trinkets, combat potion and racial abilities.

Patch 12.1.5 adds pandemic animations to aura buttons and accounts for duration carried over from refreshes. Spellslinger Frost Mages can also track Splinterstorm as a beneficial effect in the Cooldown Manager. Use that tracking option when arranging the cooldown display for your Frost Mage setup.

Sensei Class Resource Bar

Sensei Class Resource Bar supplies customizable primary and secondary resource displays for every class and specialization, with positioning through Edit Mode. Examples include Combo Points, Holy Power and Chi.

Keep resources near the decisions they inform. For Holy Paladin, an easily readable Holy Power display is specifically recommended because the specialization repeatedly builds and spends it.

Buff and Beacon reminders

Buff Reminder warns you about missing party or raid buffs before an encounter or dungeon key. Ellesmere's Beacon Reminders is a separate lightweight option for reminding Holy Paladins to apply their Beacons.

Dungeon, raid and combat alerts

Deadly Boss Mods or BigWigs

DBM provides encounter bars, sound cues and screen flashes; BigWigs offers bars, emphasized text warnings and configurable sounds for mechanics. Use one boss mod to avoid duplicated warnings.

In Midnight, both build their bars from Blizzard's encounter timeline, and DBM can enable that timeline while hiding its default visual display. For Season 2 raids, check that your installed build includes Kith'ix before relying on its encounter module.

Boss debuffs applied to you can be private auras that boss mods cannot read; Blizzard's warning text and the icon on your frame remain necessary for those effects. Keep those native cues visible when simplifying your interface.

Better Timeline

Better Timeline customizes Blizzard's boss timeline with central text highlights and larger icons for casts less than five seconds away. Choose it when you want to improve the native timeline's presentation.

Northern Sky Raid Tools

Northern Sky Raid Tools supports raid assignments and reminders for defensive or utility cooldowns without adding automated encounter calculations. It has explicit Patch 12.1 support.

Use it to make planned responsibilities easier to follow.

TargetedSpells

TargetedSpells highlights spells aimed at you or your party and is recommended for pushing keys in the Patch 12.1.5 Holy Paladin setup. Add it when incoming targeted casts are difficult to notice in your existing layout.

Details! Damage Meter

Details! tracks damage, healing, deaths and interrupts, with an adjustable update interval. Its combat data updates during combat in real time. You can also inspect damage taken and causes of death when reviewing a failed pull.

Start with the information that answers your immediate question, rather than keeping every display open.

Mythic+ routes, timers and group tools

Mythic Dungeon Tools

Mythic Dungeon Tools handles route planning and enemy-forces calculations. Import Season 2 routes: Kings' Rest, Temple of Sethraliss and Ruby Life Pools were retuned, so their earlier route strings do not represent the current season.

MPlusTimer or WarpDeplete

MPlusTimer adds kill times and personal-best comparisons to a replacement keystone timer. It also displays death penalties and pacing information. WarpDeplete is another Season 2 timer option, alongside Blizzard's native display.

Choose the timer whose information you can read quickly during a pull.

Raider.IO and Premade Groups Filter

Raider.IO puts score and run history into the group-finding workflow. Premade Groups Filter narrows listings by factors including needed roles, difficulty, leader rating and composition.

Use the filters to reduce irrelevant listings before comparing groups.

BliZzi Party Tools

BliZzi Party Tools has a Patch 12.1 build with interrupt and party-defensive tracking, but it estimates cooldowns from observed casts and assumed talents. The addon communication channel is blocked in Mythic+, and addons cannot directly read teammates' cooldowns under the Patch 12.1 rules.

Treat those indicators as estimates and keep calling interrupt assignments. Affix tracking belongs on the default UI because DBM's Mythic+ affix module does not load in Midnight.

Mythic Mentor and Key Master

Mythic Mentor puts short dungeon-boss reminders inside the game before a pull. Key Master gathers dungeon score, party keystones and completion records into one overview.

Choose the former for mechanic reminders and the latter for run organization.

Bags, navigation and everyday convenience

Baganator and Syndicator

Baganator groups inventory into categories without displaying unused bag slots, while Syndicator tracks items across characters. Install both for that combination of organized bags and cross-character item information.

OPie and Porter

OPie binds radial menus to hotkeys for abilities, mounts, toys and items you do not need permanently on action bars. Porter collects hearthstones, teleport items, travel cloaks and travel toys into a compact window.

Use the tool that matches the kind of clutter you want to remove.

Waypoint UI, CityGuide and World Quest Tab

Waypoint UI adds clearer directional guidance toward objectives. CityGuide labels Silvermoon's vendors, trainers, auctioneers and other services, while World Quest Tab supplies a sortable, filterable overview of world-quest rewards.

These address different navigation problems, so choose by the information you repeatedly struggle to find.

Talent Loadout EX and Class Codex

Talent Loadout EX expands talent-build management with unlimited saved configurations. Class Codex puts class reference material, rotation advice and stat priorities into the character interface.

Window and world-interaction tools

Plumber makes world interactions and housing easier to use, while BlizzMove and No Auto Close change how windows act, and HandyNotes, paired with its Midnight plugin, pinpoints treasure spots and rare enemies.

Add convenience tools gradually so you can judge whether each one helps.

Delves, Prey and weekly checklists

Everything Delves and DelveGuide

Everything Delves tracks bountiful delves, shards, keys, Great Vault slots and completion history across characters, with Patch 12.1 maintenance. DelveGuide supports Patch 12.1.5 and provides a pre-entry checklist that can catch missing Restored Coffer Keys.

Bountiful Delves Hunter-Midnight lists the bountiful rotation and world quests awarding Coffer Key Shards, while ZamestoTV Delves Helper displays hidden chests and the weekly key cap. Choose the missing function rather than installing every tracker.

Prey and profession checklists

Midnight Routine includes a Prey tracker in its weekly checklist. PreyDator supplies map information for tracking hunts, and Routine tracks recurring activities, profession knowledge drops, rares and world bosses across characters.

Myu's Knowledge Point Tracker provides a profession-window checklist for weekly knowledge sources, treasures and quest drops. Prefer a focused checklist if profession knowledge is the only recurring task you need help remembering.

Gear, crafting and gold-making addons

SimulationCraft and loot planning

SimulationCraft exports equipped items, bag contents and Great Vault choices to Raidbots tools such as Top Gear and Droptimizer. Use those comparisons before committing to an upgrade.

Keystone Loot displays dungeon and raid loot tables inside the game, organized by slot, dungeon and keystone tier. AussyLoot adds Season 2 planning features including a wishlist, SimulationCraft export, bonus-roll targets and a crest plan.

Kith'ix's four cantrip armor pieces occupy tier slots and can be converted into tier set pieces through the Catalyst while retaining their stats and effects. Their bonus damage increases alongside a Venomcursed piece from Ula'tek, so compare the combination when simulating your gear.

Auctionator, CraftSim and TradeSkillMaster

AddonMain job
AuctionatorPrice tooltips, shopping lists and auction posting.
CraftSimRecipe-level profit, quality and reagent simulations.
TradeSkillMasterAuction operations, bulk posting and gold tracking.
Profession Shopping ListReagent shopping lists built from recipes.

Start with Auctionator and CraftSim for buying materials and evaluating crafts; consider TradeSkillMaster when you need repeatable operations for high-volume posting.

FarmHUD and Routes

FarmHUD brings gathering minimap information around your character for Herbalism or Mining. Routes draws farming circuits on the map and minimap, and Routes Import/Export lets you exchange those paths as strings.

Use gathering routes for the activity they actually cover.

PvP addons for battlegrounds and Blitz

BattleGroundEnemiesFixed

BattleGroundEnemiesFixed adds enemy-team unit frames for battlegrounds and is recommended for RBGs and Blitz. Use it when you need a clearer overview of the opposing team.

SweepyBoop's PvP Helper

SweepyBoop's PvP Helper replaces friendly nameplates with class icons to make teammates easier to locate. It also indicates where your cursor will return after right-click camera movement.

For a PvP Plater layout, enlarge enemy plates and make defensive icons prominent so you can recognize protected targets before spending burst.

Installing, updating and backing up your addons

Patch 12.1.5 uses interface number 120105. Builds targeting an interface below 120000 cannot load in Midnight, even with Load out of date AddOns enabled; builds tagged 12.1.0 may load with that option but still need checking.

  1. Install matching Retail versions through CurseForge, WowUp or the Wago app.
  2. Update your chosen addons, then test their frames, alerts and profiles before using them for progression.
  3. Use Simple Addon Manager to create different enabled-addon sets for activities such as farming or testing.
  4. Install BugGrabber and BugSack if you want Lua errors captured and stored instead of interrupting play with popups.

For a backup or move to another computer:

  1. Close the game so it writes SavedVariables on logout.
  2. Copy Interface and WTF from the retail directory; Interface contains addon code, while WTF contains settings, keybinds and account or character data.
  3. Save exported Edit Mode and Cooldown Manager strings, plus profile exports from your interface, nameplate, meter and raid-frame addons.
  4. On the destination computer, install matching addons and restore WTF before logging in.

For another character, use the addon's profile-copy function or copy and rename the relevant character folder under WTF/Account/account/realm.

Reducing addon clutter and frame drops

Start by removing overlapping tools. Two addons managing the same frames or nameplates can clutter the interface, so keep one addon for each job.

If performance drops during large encounters, work through these changes and check the result after each one:

  1. Reduce Plater scripts and animations, which multiply their workload across active nameplates.
  2. Close unnecessary Details! windows and live graphs.
  3. Disable duplicate boss mods.
  4. Disable bag, collection and auction scanners that react to loot during combat.
  5. Remove unnecessary chat, broker and minimap displays that redraw frequently.

Lowering Spell Density can reduce other players' spell effects; Patch 12.1.5 added more Arcane Mage spells to that graphics system. Check addon CPU usage in the AddOns list when deciding what to disable next.
