Updated October 16, 2026 for Hallow's End 2026.
The annual event features the Headless Horseman encounter, regional candy buckets, daily quests, and themed vanity collections. Gathering Tricky Treats and visiting local taverns lets you collect festive masks, costumes, and the "the Hallowed" character title.
Event Dates and Daily Schedule
The seasonal celebration begins on October 18 and concludes on November 1, giving you 14 full days to participate.
If you want to clear holiday tasks without spending hours on alts, the WoW Hallow's End Boost handles achievement requirements and daily boss completions.
Headless Horseman Boss Fight and Loot
You can queue directly for the Headless Horseman encounter through the Dungeon Finder during the event window. The encounter takes place in the Scarlet Monastery Graveyard and lasts about five minutes at maximum level.
Boss Encounter Mechanics
1. Damage the Horseman until his head detaches.
2. Target the flying head while it flies across the room.
3. Repeat the cycle as the head rejoins the body until he is defeated.
The boss drops the Hallowed Helm, the Sinister Squashling pet, and a low chance at The Horseman's Reins, which functions as both a ground and flying mount based on your riding skill and zone.
Each character receives a Loot-Filled Pumpkin on their first Horseman defeat of the day. Because the mount drop rate is very low, running the dungeon across multiple alternate characters each day increases your chances over the two-week span.

Candy Buckets in Midnight Zones
Visiting Candy Buckets in taverns awards Tricky Treats and progress toward regional achievements. Patch 12.1.0 added the Tricks and Treats of Midnight achievement, which awards 10 achievement points once you visit all 15 candy buckets across the new zones:
- Eversong Woods: Arcantina, Fairbreeze Village, Silvermoon, and Tranquillien
- Harandar: Har'alnor, Har'athir, Har'kuai, Har'mara, and The Den
- Voidstorm: Locus Point, Slayer's Rise, and The Ingress
- Zul'Aman: Anami'Zar, Camp Stonewash, and Witherbark Bluffs
Daily Quests and Tricky Treats
Completing daily quests rewards Tricky Treats, the primary currency used at holiday vendors.
- Firefighting: Put out burning buildings located in Razor Hill or Goldshire.
- Stink Bombs: Clean up enemy stink bombs inside your faction's major city or drop fresh ones onto the opposing capital.
Tricky Treats buy holiday items from event vendors, including vanity pets, toys, masks, and cosmetic transmog pieces. Vendors also sell Hallowed Wands, which allow you to disguise party members as bats, skeletons, ghosts, and other creatures. Outside of vendors, October Trading Post selections offer additional event-themed masks, mounts, and pets.
Hallowed Be Thy Name Meta-Achievement
The meta-achievement Hallowed Be Thy Name awards the title "the Hallowed". Completing the meta requires eleven distinct holiday achievements:
- Trick or Treat!: Pick a handful of candy from a candy bucket in any inn.
- Don't Lose Your Head, Man: Defeat the Headless Horseman inside Scarlet Monastery.
