Updated November 3, 2026 for Midnight Season 2 (Patch 12.1).

WoW professions in Midnight Season 2 (Patch 12.1) run on Knowledge Points, Artisan's Moxie and Concentration. Each crafting or gathering profession can reset its spent Knowledge Points once at Theremis in Silvermoon City. Season 2 crafting also depends on the weekly Tidal Spark and on recipes found through four separate sources.

Knowledge Point reset

  • Each profession gets one reset per character, done at Theremis in Silvermoon City.
  • The reset returns your spent Knowledge Points so you can allocate them again.
  • Your profession skill level stays the same after the reset.
  • Outside this reset, spent Knowledge Points cannot be refunded.

Knowledge Points and how to earn them

Knowledge Points are tracked per profession. Cooking, Fishing and Archaeology have no specialization tree and need none. You need profession level 25 to earn every Knowledge Point source.

One-time sources

  • First-time crafts: each new crafting recipe you make gives +1 Knowledge Point and 10 Moxie.
  • First-time gathers: Herbalists and Miners get +1 Knowledge Point for each new node type they gather.
  • Renown: reaching Renown 6 or 9 with certain factions gives +10 Knowledge Points.
  • Knowledge Treasures: each profession has 8 treasures worth +3 Knowledge Points each, and each can be looted once per character.
  • Abundance vendor: Chel the Chip sells Knowledge Point books worth +10 each during Abundance events, which require level 90.

Repeatable sources

  • Weekly trainer quests: these come from your profession trainer at the Work Order station in Silvermoon City and give +1 to +3 Knowledge Points.
  • Patron Orders: crafting professions other than Enchanting receive these every few days, worth +1 or +3 Knowledge Points plus Moxie.
  • Disenchanting: Enchanting earns most of its weekly Knowledge Points this way, about +9 in total.
  • Gathering side items: +1 Knowledge Point items can be collected 5 times per week, and +3 items once per week.
  • Treatises: Scribes can make Thalassian Treatises worth +1 Knowledge Point once per week.
  • Darkmoon Faire: each monthly visit gives +3 Knowledge Points and +15 Moxie.

Catch-up

Catch-up Knowledge comes only after you finish your weekly tasks. Crafters then see more +1 Patron Orders, Enchanters earn Glimmering Powder from disenchanting, and gatherers get +1 drops until they are caught up. Gatherers should complete the weekly quest in Silvermoon before gathering to get catch-up.

The weekly Knowledge Point cap rises each week by a fixed amount for each profession. A profession far behind gets up to three flicker orders per day.

Artisan's Moxie

  • Moxie is profession-specific, so Alchemy Moxie only buys Alchemy items.
  • Moxie buys recipes, material bags and Knowledge Point books from vendors.

Concentration and profession stats

  • Every crafting profession keeps a separate Concentration pool, capped at 1,000 points.
  • Concentration regenerates one point every six minutes.
  • Ingenuity refunds part of the Concentration spent on a craft.

Crafting professions use these stats:

  • Resourcefulness: chance to consume fewer reagents
  • Multicraft: chance to make extra items on eligible recipes
  • Ingenuity: chance to refund Concentration
  • Crafting Speed: shorter craft times

Gathering professions use Finesse for extra materials, Deftness for gathering speed and Perception for rare side materials.

Season 2 recipe sources

Season 2 recipes come from four places.

  • Zul'jarra's Forces: reach Renown 5 with this faction to unlock recipes. The quartermaster is Jan'sari the Vigilant at 58.8, 46.0. Renown is earned on The Coiled Isle.
  • Captain Tokka's crew: two vendors, Quartermaster Sluggs at 51, 49 and Navigator Otoola at 57, 48, with different catalogs. Cursed Fishing earns trust with Captain Tokka and his crew.
  • Fishing or the auction house: the Bottled Thalassian Recipe can be fished or bought.
  • V'anore Assembly in Silvermoon at 55, 65: sells bind-on-pickup items.

Season 2 also adds Amani profession trainers who teach niche recipes. Patch 12.1 recipes include Concentrated Silvermoon Health Potion, Liquid Luster and Alluring Nostrum for Alchemy.

Tidal Spark weekly cap

The Tidal Spark is obtained through weekly content quests and lets you craft items up to item level 298. It is capped each week, and a skipped week is not made up later.

Leveling your profession

Profession skill runs from 1 to 100. Build one specialization lane first, then expand. Mining plus Herbalism is the simplest gathering start, since both turn gathering into materials other players need. You can start a profession boost with WoW Professions to hand the leveling off your hands.

Gathering professions

Skinning is tied to combat and supplies Leatherworking. For a full skinning build, read the Skinning Profession Guide.

  • Trap risk: gathering rare materials may trigger traps.
  • Mote of Pure Void: gathering can reward this rare material used in high-end recipes.
  • Profession appearance: Mahra Treebender in Silvermoon City can hide profession equipment appearances.

Crafted gear and embellishments

Crafted equipment keeps five quality ranks, while reagents and consumables use fewer ranks. Embellishments are limited, and you can use only two Embellished items at once.
