Kith'ix is a single-boss raid in Midnight patch 12.1.5, live since October 13 across Story Mode, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic. The pull is a two-phase fight with an intermission every 100 energy, and the loot makes the kill worth repeating. This Kith'ix raid guide walks through the mechanics, the entrance and the loot before your group pulls.
What the Unbinding of Kith'ix is
The Unbinding of Kith'ix is a one-boss raid in Season 2 of Midnight, closing out the Quel'Thalas and Zul'Aman storyline that runs through the "Promise of Tomorrow" campaign.
Kith'ix was bound in his subterranean lair beneath the Venomous Abyss, and Ula'tek's defeat weakened the restraints that kept him at bay. He is a C'Thraxxi general and the ancient foe the Amani locked away, and you fight him with Lady Liadrin at your side.
How the Kith'ix fight runs
The encounter is a two-phase fight with an intermission every time Kith'ix reaches 100 energy. The cycle repeats in practice: engage him together with his minions, darkness floods the area, Liadrin repels it, then the sequence restarts until his health reaches 25%. When that happens, the encounter transitions to a last damage phase, with only your group, Liadrin's buff, and an enrage timer counting down.
Kith'ix calls on his Voidswarm to fight alongside him while assaulting players with dark magic. Once his energy hits 100, he attempts to overwhelm the group using Suffocating Darkness, and Lady Liadrin keeps the darkness at bay, building strength to remove it through Divine Radiance. When he reaches 25% health, Stygian Howl stuns everyone, and Last Light from Liadrin saves them, beginning a rush to defeat him before Eightfold Eclipse extinguishes Liadrin's Light.
Hold Hero for Phase 2: control and consistency matter in the first phase and intermission, but Phase 2 becomes a survival race, so each additional second of damage matters.
Mechanics to know before the pull
This Kith'ix raid guide covers the numerous abilities on the encounter—though only a few are complex—and explains what every one does plus the routines that make each pull go smoothly.
- Intermission: remain in the light and deal with those same three key mechanics while Liadrin's Energy Bar fills to 100%; no additional adds appear, but any that remain get 100% attack and movement speed and deal pulse damage.
- Refulgent Bulwark: stay inside Lady Liadrin's protective bubble while you keep doing the Phase 1 mechanics.
- Unspeakable Horrors: When a purple arrow marks you, move away and remove the fear; you have 6 seconds until you cower, and fall-off damage occurs when it expires or is dispelled.
- Extinguish and Light's Embrace: pick up the motes before the raidwide damage wave. Extinguish deals lethal damage to the entire raid, and since motes consistently appear close to the boss while it is being cast, all players run to Kith'ix and pick one up; for anyone unable to get one in time, an immunity or strong defensive is the fallback.
- Luminous Grace: use Bloodlust or a similar spell so it stacks with Luminous Grace during the Phase 2 burn.
- Eightfold Eclipse: burn Kith'ix before he finishes eight Eclipses.
- Bomber Beetles: These beetles target random players, then detonate either on contact or after 30 seconds, covering the whole group in Digestive Juices; a single blast can be handled, but multiple explosions in succession pile up the debuff and pressure your healers.
To manage the beetles cleanly, grip a single one onto the Hulk, allow it to detonate, wait until the debuff expires, and then pull in the following one; this converts a messy mechanic into a pattern your healers can anticipate. In Mythic difficulty, Mindstinger Eggs also fill the beetles, meaning each detonation drops eggs onto the floor; pulling them to the Hulk gathers those eggs in the spot where your cleave already lands, rather than spreading them around the room.

Difficulties and group size
The raid offers Story Mode, Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic difficulties, requires level 90, and on Mythic you face Kith'ix with a flexible group of 15–25 players. The strategy above is written for Heroic and Mythic.
You can play Story Mode right now; to enter it, speak with the Memory of Ancient Darkness NPC close to the raid entrance, located in the rear section of the Underbelly within the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Defeating Kith'ix counts toward the Raids row of the Great Vault.
Where the raid entrance is
The entrance to the Unbinding of Kith'ix raid lies in the north-easternmost area of The Underbelly; this sub-zone is in the northernmost section of the Vaults of Atal'Utek, on The Coiled Isle. The route is dangerous and full of foes, so prepare for combat as you enter.
- Head back into the Vaults of Atal'Utek on The Coiled Isle through any of the three entrances and make your way to the back of the Vaults into The Underbelly.
- Inside The Underbelly, push toward the back of the map until you reach the room with a staircase leading deeper — this was previously locked and hidden beneath a pool of venom.
- Take the staircase down; the raid entrance is at the back of the room below.

Kith'ix loot and rewards
From Kith'ix you get a unique cantrip item per armor type, cantrip weapons, one cantrip ring, and trinkets for every role; the raid does not drop Tier Set armor. The raid has 10 items in total, each starting at 3/6 on its item level upgrade track, and you can use bonus rolls on the boss to guarantee an item for your current loot specialization.
| Difficulty | Item level of drops |
| Raid Finder | 285 (Veteran 3/6) |
| Normal | 298 (Champion 3/6) |
| Heroic | 311 (Hero 3/6) |
| Mythic | 324 (Myth 3/6) |
Cantrip items work together with Venomcursed pieces from the Venomous Abyss raid; those items provide a big secondary stat proc but reduce another stat: a single Venomcursed piece can increase the damage effect of the new items, and equipping more may raise the chance.
- Lu'selama, Light's Justice: Two-Hand Sword, Strength
- Sanctified Knight's Phoenixblade: One-Hand Sword, Intellect / Mastery / Crit
- Corroded Hulk's Skullcap: Plate, Mastery / Haste
- Voidweaver's Leggings: Cloth, Mastery / Crit
- Aberrant Commander's Gauntlets: Crit / Mastery
- Chestwrap of Palpable Terror: Leather, Haste / Crit
- Band of the Swarmcaller: Ring, Mastery / Haste
- Lightbearer's Shield Fragment: Trinket, Agility / Strength
- Sigil of the Impending Eclipse: Trinket, Intellect
- Twisted Horror's Tendril: Trinket, Agility / Intellect / Strength
Extra drops are decor and toys, so no player power is tied to chasing them: Kith'ix's Seal, Libram of the Matriarch and Shadeweaver's Hearthstone. The libram, which creates a new Paladin glyph, only drops on Mythic difficulty. If you want the gear without organising the pull yourself, a Midnight Heroic Raid and Mythic+ Dungeon run hands the encounter and the loot rolls to someone else.
Questline rewards
For defeating Kith'ix, the quest offers either a Hero 1/6 necklace or ring — Bloodmark Signet or Pendant of Venomous Vigil — and also the Hiveborne Hearthstone, a toy hearthstone that transforms you into an insect. The quest "In Victory, Grief" rewards the shield cosmetic Shield of the Blood Knight Matriarch, while "What the World Sees" rewards the Blade of the Blood Knight Matriarch. As of the last update, "What the World Sees" could not be completed due to a bug, and the rest of the questline gives the title Light's Faithful.
