Destiny 2 Overthrow Mode Guide
Published on: 4 June, 2024 |
First and foremost, Overthrow is a completely new mode in Destiny 2: The Final Shape, and it is unlike any other mode, including Onslaught. This new key mechanic is created for players and combines PvE elements. You survive through three waves, complete different tasks, and finally beat a mega mastermind, which is different for each zone. That’s almost everything, but the devil is in the details. That’s why we created our own Destiny 2 Overthrow guide, to inform all Guardians playing the Darkness Saga about:
- How monsters in Overthrow mode differ.
- Which class items you can earn in The Pale Heart, and which are dungeon-only.
- What else Destiny 2: The Final Shape allows you to do in Overthrow mode.
- Little tricks and tips.
And other useful information. So, even if you’re ready for some madness in the Darkness Saga, welcome to our Final Shape compendium. We’ve also prepared information about some new weapons, dungeons, raids, exotic class items, and a bit about the new plot. Just move to our Destiny 2 section and view all the required information there!

Destiny 2 OverThrow Mechanics explain
This activity is all about battling through waves of enemies and completing specific objectives to face a boss at the end. Here’s a step-by-step guide to understanding how this mode works:
- Enter The Pale Heart — Start your adventure in The Pale Heart, a special area designed just for this mode. Each section of The Pale Heart has its own version of the Overthrow event.
- Defeat Enemies to Earn Points — In Overthrow, your goal is to earn points by defeating enemies. You get 1 point for a normal enemy and more for high-value targets.
- Progress Through Three Tiers — There are three tiers you need to complete. Each tier requires you to accumulate 1000 points by defeating enemies and completing additional objectives like collecting motes or destroying Taken blights.
- Boss Encounter — After completing the third tier, a unique boss will spawn. The boss you face depends on which region of The Pale Heart you are in.
- Solo or Team Play — You can tackle Overthrow alone or with a pre-made team. If you go solo, you won’t encounter other players randomly in this mode.
- Complete the Mode for Rewards — Successfully defeating the boss will yield rewards such as Pale Heart destination weapons, Luminescent Seeds, and potentially new Exotic class items, which are unlocked after certain events in the game.

Tier 1 | Defeat standard enemies to gain initial points. |
Tier 2 | Encounter high-value targets for bonus points. |
Tier 3 | Complete advanced objectives before the boss spawns. |

Rewards | Collect rewards for completing the Overthrow. |
