Wait for the reset. Patch 12.1.5 arrives October 13 with weekly maintenance and reduces the crafting cost of all decor from pre-Midnight professions, so anything you craft before then costs more reagents than it will afterward. The housing decor crafting cost nerf in 12.1.5 covers over 200 recipes, with lumber and general reagents both coming down.

When does the cost reduction go live?

12.1.5 drops with the next reset, on October 13 alongside weekly maintenance. Blizzard's own announcement says decor crafting "will all be easier after the release of 12.1.5".

What exactly gets cheaper?

All crafted decor from pre-Midnight professions gets its crafting cost reduced, across all professions in all other expansions. This follows 12.1, which did the same for Midnight profession recipes. Over 200 recipes are affected, and lumber costs are included in the reduction.

Lumber matters more than most reagents because it is bound to your Warband, so crafting lumber-heavy decor was either slow or expensive.

Why waiting beats crafting now

Every reagent you spend before October 13 is spent at the old rate, and the same recipe costs less the following day. If you have older professions leveled, the patch is designed to make those professions worth using for decor. Holding your lumber and older-expansion reagents until after the reset gets you the same item for less.

If gathering those older-expansion reagents is the part you would rather not do, a WoW Midnight Professions Kits Boost hands the material collection to someone else.
