WotLK Grand Black War Mammoth Mount

The Grand Black War Mammoth is a rare mount with a 1% drop rate, and it can only be obtained by killing Archavon, the Stone Watcher, a boss in the Vault of Archavon raid. Due to the extremely low drop chance, it takes either a lot of luck or a lot of work to get this mount. It has room for two passengers, but unlike the mammoth, you can get from the Sons of Hodir, has no vendors. To get this mount you will have to utilize every raid lockout for VoA 10 or 25-man with as many characters as possible. But even if you do, don’t expect to see it drop anytime soon. The minuscule drop chance means that everyone is after it and with PUGs, it is not uncommon to see it ninja’d. Luckily, you don’t have to put yourself through a ton of Archavon kills if you really want this mount in your collection. Let us do it for you! How to Get Grand Black War Mammoth Mount in WotLK Classic

The only way to get the mount is to kill Archavon, the Stone Watcher, the first boss of the VoA raid instance that is located beneath the Wintergrasp fortress. The faction that controls Lake Wintergrasp can band together in raid groups for this raid dungeon. Initially, in the WotLK content phase 1 Archavon will be the only boss that populates this dungeon but as the expansion progresses, additional wings with corresponding bosses will be added to the dungeon. None of them, however, is relevant because they don’t drop the mount in question.

There is no good way to speed up the hunt for this mount. The only way to increase your chances of getting the drop is to use every single save on every character. And you can bet that if it does drop for your raid, every single person in the raid will be rolling on it.
