Rage of the Storm is a level 30 Enhancement Shaman weapon reward in WoW Forever, tied to the Air Totem class quest chain. You get it by looting the last boss in Razorfen Kraul, collecting 20 totems across Azeroth, and finishing a level 40 elite quest in Thousand Needles before handing in at Alterac. The quest was in the beta, so drop rates and final details may have changed before launch.

What Rage of the Storm actually is

It is the Enhancement-focused option among the level 30 Shaman weapon rewards, alongside the Elemental-empowering Lightning's Grasp and the Tidebringer's Claw healing weapon. You also receive the Elementalist's Guard shield with your weapon. It appears on level 30 Enhancement Shaman quest reward lists.

How to start the quest

The quest comes directly after you receive the Wind Totem quest. The level 30 Shaman class quest rewards the Air Totem and the ability to use Air Totems like Grounding Totem, and it also gives you the quest that leads to Rage of the Storm. That quest involves killing a lot of high-level enemies and an elite.

Step 1: Loot the last boss in RFK

The first step is to loot the last boss in Razorfen Kraul. Razorfen Kraul is also where level 30 Enhancement Shamans find several dungeon drops, including Corpsemaker, Mantle of Thieves, Wolfclaw Gloves, and Ferine Leggings.

Step 2: Collect 20 totems across Azeroth

You need 20 totems gathered from four zones, five from each:

ZoneEnemiesLevels
Dustwallow MarshMurlocs36–39
DesolaceCentaurs37–39
Swamp of SorrowsLost Ones34–37
BadlandsTroggs39+

The drop chance is estimated at around 25%.

Step 3: Complete the Thousand Needles elite quest

After the totems, you take on a level 40 elite quest in Thousand Needles at the Waterpool. There you defeat waves of elementals, and the last wave brings an elite Quilltusk at level 39 or 40 combined with an elite Water Elemental.

Step 4: Hand in at Alterac

The quest then sends you to the Shaman NPC in Alterac to hand in and receive your weapon and shield. Choose Rage of the Storm if you are playing Enhancement.

What to know before you commit

Enhancement Shamans at level 30 rely mostly on auto attacks, so keeping your weapon upgraded matters more than casting. Stormstrike and Windfury Weapon are available at level 30, but their mana costs are high, so use Stormstrike sparingly to preserve mana. The new Legacy System can give you talent points up to five levels earlier, which lets you reach a 100% chance to keep regenerating mana from Improved Stormstrike. If you want the level 30 grind handled for you, the WoW Forever Leveling Boost takes your character to the level you need.
