The WoW Forever duel tournament, officially named The Forever Open, takes place on October 17–18, 2026. Entrants compete in 1v1 duels at level 30 on the Horde faction of the WoW: Forever Beta PvP realm. Registration closed early on October 2, 2026, after reaching capacity.
Tournament Schedule and Streams
The community event runs across two consecutive days:
- October 17, 2026: Mandatory check-in from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM CT, with Qualifier gameplay beginning at 12:00 PM CT.
- October 18, 2026: Finals stage.
Primary broadcasts will stream live on the Twitch channels of organizers EsfandTV and Xaryu, alongside community co-streams. If you want assistance preparing your character in time, WoW Forever Boost services can handle your leveling and progression.
Eligibility and Check-In Requirements
Entrants who registered on Raider.io must finish every check-in requirement to compete. The setup relies on the WoW Forever name reservation structure, which requires a specific surname.
- Create a fresh Horde character on the Beta PvP realm using the surname "Foreverpvp" during the registration period.
- Reach level 30 before competing.
- All nine original classes are eligible: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock, and Druid.
- Submit and confirm a Qualifier talent build through the Raider.io Event Hub during check-in, which permanently locks the character and the Qualifier build.
- Deliver a 15-gold in-game entry fee using your tournament character.
The 15g entry fee is considered too high and exclusionary for casual competitors, say many players.
Tournament Format and Rules
Qualifiers feature six Swiss rounds contested inside assigned pods, awarding 3 match points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 for a loss. Timed-out matches count as ties rather than being replayed. Players are not eliminated during the six Swiss rounds due to poor match standing alone.
The Finals consist of a 36-competitor double-elimination bracket seeded primarily by Qualifier performance. The eight lowest-seeded qualifiers start in an opening Play-In Round, while the remaining 28 begin in the upper bracket.
- Play-In Round: 4 matches where winners advance to the upper bracket and losers drop to the lower bracket.
- Upper Bracket: Best-of-three duel series.
- Lower Bracket: Best-of-one single duels.
- Championship Match: A single best-of-five duel series with no bracket reset.
Duels allow only class self-buffs, completely banning world buffs, campfire bonuses, and consumable protection potions. Stealth classes and solo Warriors receive uncontested openers with strict time limits, while pre-trapping, pre-sacrificing, and pre-HoTs remain prohibited.
Prize Pool Distribution
The event features a $100,000 total prize pool, originally $50,000 with a $50,000 contribution from TimTheTatman:
| Placement / Category | Prize Amount |
| Tournament Champion | $50,000 & "Death's Duelist" title |
| Top Warrior | $5,555 |
| Top Paladin | $5,555 |
| Top Hunter | $5,555 |
| Top Rogue | $5,555 |
| Top Priest | $5,555 |
| Top Shaman | $5,555 |
| Top Mage | $5,555 |
| Top Warlock | $5,555 |
| Top Druid | $5,555 |
If eligible class positions tie, their respective share is divided evenly among those competitors. The tournament is viewed as harmful to the community by some, with one player writing, "I only click these videos in the hopes that the tournament gets shut down. It’s definitely tainted Forever’s release."
