Priest and Warrior are not being homogenized into a shared retail-style kit in WoW Forever; the design approach is to keep class identities distinct. This WoW Forever class deep dive shows the beta keeping separate resources, racial tools and talent trees while widening choices inside each class's identity.
Page updates
October 18, 2026
- Critical strikes from dealing damage grant 75% more Rage.
- 30-second cooldown.
- Dungeon mob XP reduced, dungeon quest XP increased.
Design approach
The team's goal is maintaining distinct class identities and avoiding homogenization, with class feel treated as what matters most. No spec should feel unplayable or useless, and a spec does not need to be best for every encounter as long as certain content gives a reason to bring it.
That is the practical answer to the retail-homogenization worry in this WoW Forever class deep dive: choices are broadened inside each class's identity rather than flattening the identities together. Commenters under the deep dives valued the anti-meta, non-homogenized approach.
How talents work in the beta
Level 10 is when talents become available; single-point milestone talents arrive upon reaching 11, 21, and 31 points, and there is an additional milestone at 16 points. To switch talents, including Legacy talents, you must see a class trainer located in a major city; Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40.
The client for the current beta build, 1.60.1.70450, shows 52 talents in each class's three trees. For Priest, 15 are not Classic Era talents, 10 Classic Era talents are absent and 30 changed rank, row, tree or text; Warrior has 12 new, 12 absent and 34 changed. Values can change before launch, which is set for November 4.
Beta leveling and dungeons
The beta cap is 30, raised from 20 on October 1, and no level 31 to 60 content or raid testing is in the beta. Dungeon quests now give 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values, while creature kills in dungeons give about 20% more.
The intent is to keep players in the world rather than leveling 1 to 60 only through dungeons. The beta began September 17 and is scheduled to run through October 22.
Warrior deep dive
The WoW Forever Warrior deep dive keeps the front-line melee role: Warriors deal and mitigate damage, bring sustained multi-target melee strength no other melee class has, and supply unique buffs and debuffs. Their gap is recovering from heavy damage.
Warrior baseline changes
- Rage from taking damage: It ignores Armor and all damage absorption, so Power Word: Shield no longer cuts Rage gained; a later build rebalanced gains around 20% to 40% damage reduction by level instead of a flat 50% assumption.
- Rage from dealing damage: It is fully normalized around weapon speed; the first deep dive listed 75% extra Rage on critical strikes, and the October 15 notes raised that to 100%.
- Tactical Mastery: Learned at level 14, it keeps 10 Rage on a stance change and can be improved by Arms talents.
- Victory Rush: Learned at level 20, it is a 30-second cooldown instant attack that heals 10% of maximum health and activates for 20 seconds after killing a non-trivial enemy.
- Recklessness, Retaliation and Shield Wall: They no longer share cooldowns, and Retaliation and Shield Wall have 15-minute cooldowns.
- Rend and Thunder Clap: Both gain significant Attack Power scaling; Thunder Clap works in Defensive Stance, has a 6-second cooldown, and had its threat reduced.
- Battle Shout and Sunder Armor: Battle Shout's Attack Power bonus was reduced, Improved Battle Shout is baked in, and Battle Shout is raid-wide; Sunder Armor works even with a stronger Expose Armor active, and its threat scales with Attack Power.
- Slam: Its cooldown is 18 seconds in the beta, and Improved Slam reduces it by up to 3 seconds.
A later beta build fixed several Rage-from-damage calculation bugs.

Priest deep dive
The WoW Forever Priest deep dive keeps Discipline, Holy and Shadow and the versatile healer role: heal-over-time and direct heals plus damage absorption shields other healers do not have. Cloth armor and few escape tools remain weaknesses, so Priests lean on allies with tanking or control while strengthening them through buffs and healing. Shadow deals heavy damage over time but lacks a Warlock's full utility.
Priest baseline abilities
- Fear Ward and Devouring Plague: Available to every Priest at level 20 regardless of race.
- Divine Spirit: Baseline at level 30.
- Shadow Word: Death: Baseline at level 32, dealing instant Shadow damage; if the target lives, the Priest loses 10% of maximum health, and the beta cooldown is 18 seconds.
- Fade: Threat reduction doubled.
- Prayer of Healing: Heals the target's party and their pets instead of the Priest's own party.
- Renew: Multiple Priests can have Renew active on the same target.
- Priest racials: Each race has two unique spells, all re-evaluated, with new spells for Gnomes.
Priest racial abilities

- Dwarf: Desperate Prayer is unchanged; Chastise is learned at level 20, damages and immobilizes a Humanoid for 2 seconds, is instant and has a 2-minute cooldown.
- Human: Divine Grace is learned at level 10, instantly heals an ally below 50% health and clears Weakened Soul, has a 5-minute cooldown and cannot target the caster; Feedback is unchanged.
- Night Elf: Starshards remains a level 10 ability, deals significantly more damage, and has a 30-second cooldown; Elune's Grace remains at level 20 and lowers melee and ranged hit chance 50% for 15 seconds, ending after 3 missed attacks or when the duration expires, with a 5-minute cooldown.
