For Combat Rogue leveling in WoW Forever, build around Improved Sinister Strike, unlock Riposte at level 20, and reach Blade Flurry at level 30 with a full Combat investment. Generate Combo Points with Sinister Strike, use Riposte whenever it activates, and spend on Slice and Dice when you can use its duration or Eviscerate for a shorter fight. Gnome and Orc are strong starting choices for their respective factions, while Troll regeneration offers a different approach to reducing recovery time.
Level 10–30 talent order
This route prioritizes solo damage and defensive cooldowns through the level-30 beta bracket. The talent ranks and effects below use the current beta build; another build can change them before the November 4, 2026 launch.
| Level | Talent allocation | What you gain |
| 10–11 | Improved Sinister Strike 2/2 | Sinister Strike costs 5 less Energy. |
| 12–14 | Improved Eviscerate 3/3 | Eviscerate deals 20% more damage. |
| 15–16 | Precision 2/3 | Start the hit talent before unlocking Riposte. |
| 17–19 | Deflection 3/3 | Gain 6% Parry. |
| 20 | Riposte 1/1 | A parry activates a counterattack dealing 150% weapon damage and disarming the enemy. |
| 21 | Precision 3/3 | Complete the talent for 3% increased hit chance. |
| 22–23 | Endurance 2/2 | Reduce Sprint and Evasion cooldowns by 60%. |
| 24 | Lightning Reflexes 1/5 | Add Dodge and reach the next talent tier. |
| 25 | Flawless Execution 1/1 | Eviscerate costs 10 less Energy. |
| 26–30 | Dual Wield Specialization 4/5, then Blade Flurry 1/1 | Invest four points in off-hand damage, then unlock the attack-speed and cleave cooldown. |
Dual Wield Specialization has five ranks and reaches 25% increased off-hand damage when fully invested; Lightning Reflexes has five ranks and reaches 5% Dodge. Blade Flurry gives 20% increased melee attack speed and makes melee attacks hit one additional nearby opponent for 15 seconds, with a two-minute cooldown.
Improved Eviscerate and Flawless Execution are disputed investments among some players, who would prefer more Dodge or Lightning Reflexes in a leveling build.
Remorseless Attacks for continuous grinding
Remorseless Attacks is a two-rank Assassination talent: at full investment, killing a non-trivial enemy gives your next Sinister Strike, Backstab, Ambush, Mutilate or Ghostly Strike 40% additional critical-strike chance within 20 seconds. It suits a route where you keep moving between kills.
Take those two points early if that is your priority, then respec at level 30 to recover the full Combat allocation for four points in Dual Wield Specialization and Blade Flurry when you have no extra Legacy points. Change normal and Legacy talents at a class trainer in a major city.
Remorseless Attacks feels worth the investment for quick chains of kills, especially with an Ambush opener, to players who favor continuous grinding.
Dagger and control alternatives
Puncturing Wounds has three ranks; at maximum it adds 30% Backstab critical-strike chance, 15% Mutilate critical-strike chance and a 45% chance for Backstab to generate an extra Combo Point. Consider it with a strong main-hand dagger, especially in a group where you can consistently attack from behind; use Sinister Strike when positioning prevents Backstab.
For a non-dagger build, the three points can instead go into Endurance 2/2 and Lightning Reflexes 1/5, as in the route above.
A control-oriented alternative uses Improved Sprint 2/2, which removes movement-impairing effects whenever you activate Sprint. One tested hybrid approach favors Kidney Shot finishers and skips Flawless Execution to spend elsewhere; pair Improved Sprint with a Gnome's Escape Artist for separate ways to escape roots and slows. Improved Kick has two ranks and, at full investment, makes Kick apply a two-second silence.
Extra Legacy points
Legacy objectives include profession milestones and leveling different classes, and their points are shared across your account. Maximizing Talented provides five additional class talent points; put these into Hack and Slash for the damage-focused Combat build.
Hack and Slash has five ranks: at maximum, successful axe or sword melee attacks have a 5% chance to produce an extra attack, daggers and fist weapons gain 5% critical-strike chance, and mace attacks ignore 15% of the target's armor.
Single-target rotation and two-enemy pulls
Energy regenerates continuously at 10 per second, so spend it before the bar stays full. Combo Points remain on an enemy when you change targets, but building points on another enemy replaces them; points cannot transfer between enemies.
Use this priority for the Sinister Strike build:
- Prepare both weapons with Instant Poison once you unlock poisons; use Crippling Poison when preventing fleeing enemies matters more.
- Approach in Stealth and open with Garrote, or Ambush when you have a main-hand dagger; Cheap Shot becomes a defensive opener at level 26.
- Use Riposte as soon as a parry makes it available.
- Build Combo Points with Sinister Strike.
- At five Combo Points, apply Slice and Dice if you can keep attacking for its duration.
- Spend five Combo Points on Eviscerate when Slice and Dice is already active or the enemy will die too soon to benefit from it.
Save Expose Armor for a sufficiently long fight, particularly with a party that deals mostly physical damage. Its armor reduction matches five applications of similarly leveled Sunder Armor, and Warriors can still use Sunder Armor without removing a stronger Expose Armor.
At level 30, pull two manageable enemies together for Blade Flurry and keep the same damage priority; use Evasion alongside it when taking both enemies' attacks would be dangerous. Use Blade Flurry frequently for its attack-speed benefit as well as its cleave.
For a control-heavy pull after learning Cheap Shot, open with it, build points with Sinister Strike, use Riposte on a proc, and spend on Kidney Shot before returning to builders and an Eviscerate finish. A bleed alternative opens with Garrote, builds with Sinister Strike and uses Rupture before finishing the enemy.
Race choices for leveling
Choose between burst damage, movement and recovery rather than treating one racial package as ideal for every route. Gnome is a recommended Alliance Combat choice, Orc offers Horde burst, and Troll is especially strong for leveling regeneration. Horde Skyborne is S-tier for leveling speed, with Gnome, Night Elf, Undead, Troll and Alliance Skyborne in A-tier, and Orc, Human and Dwarf in B-tier.
Gnome: burst and movement freedom
Eureka! reduces the Energy cost of non-periodic damaging abilities by 10% and increases their damage by 10% for eight seconds, on a two-minute cooldown. It is a timed buff without charges.
Escape Artist removes movement-impairing effects and grants three seconds of immunity to them. Expansive Mind raises maximum Energy by 5%, while Engineering Specialization reduces device failures or backfires by 20%.
Orc: damage on demand
Blood Fury increases Attack Power and Spell Power by 10% for 15 seconds; its current cooldown is two minutes. Use it to support a burst window alongside your offensive abilities.
Shatter Curse dispels Curses and Banes and reduces incoming magic damage by 5% for eight seconds, with a three-minute cooldown. Hardiness shortens stuns by 20%, and Savage adds 1% critical-strike chance.
Troll: less recovery time
Rapid Regeneration restores 50% of maximum Health over six seconds on a three-minute cooldown, but movement, another action or incoming damage stops it. Crowd control can create room to use it during a fight.
Regeneration increases Health regeneration by 20% and permits 20% of total regeneration to continue in combat. Berserking adds 10% attack and casting speed for 15 seconds on a three-minute cooldown, and Beast Slaying increases damage against Beasts by 5%.
Other useful racial packages
Undead
Cannibalize restores 7% of total Health and Mana every two seconds for ten seconds when a Humanoid or Undead corpse is within five yards; moving, acting or taking damage interrupts it. Touch of the Grave gives Rogue attacks and spells a 20% chance to drain up to 5% of maximum Health, with a 15-second internal cooldown.
Will of the Forsaken clears Charm, Fear, and Sleep effects, while Underwater Breathing increases breath duration by 300%.
Night Elf
Elune's Light adds 10% critical-strike chance for 15 seconds on a three-minute cooldown. Quickness adds 1% Dodge, 2% movement speed and stronger Rogue Stealth equivalent to one additional level.
Shadowmeld ends when you move; using it in combat reduces enemy interest in you and increases its cooldown to two minutes, but it does not enable Stealth abilities or remove combat like Vanish. Wisp Spirit increases movement speed while dead by 75%.
Human and Dwarf
Human's Will to Survive removes stuns on a three-minute cooldown, Perception increases Stealth detection for 20 seconds, and The Human Spirit increases Spirit by 10%. Ruthless grants 2% increased critical-strike chance.
Dwarf's Stoneform removes Bleeds, Poisons and Diseases, grants immunity to them and reduces physical damage taken by 10% for eight seconds, with a three-minute cooldown. Artisan's Precision grants 1% hit, Big Game Hunter adds 5% damage against Beasts, Find Treasure tracks chests and can yield additional chest items, and Earth Fury adds 2% critical damage and healing.
Skyborne
Wind Blessed grants 3% haste, and Elemental Insight increases damage against Elementals by 5%. Horde Skysight has a half-second cast and a two-minute cooldown, can be cast while moving, and raises movement and mounted speed by 15%; using an Elemental Convergence grants the stronger Charged effect with 30% movement speed.
Alliance Read Leyline increases Health and Mana regeneration by 50%, or 100% with Attuned from a Ley Line. It can be cast while moving and has a minimum duration of 30 seconds. Charged and Attuned persist through death but disappear when you enter a raid.
Walk on Air provides a controllable downward glide on a 90-second cooldown.

Weapons, axes and stat priorities
Rogues can learn to use one-handed axes in WoW Forever. Train the appropriate weapon skill when a stronger sword, mace, axe or fist weapon becomes available.
Prioritize an upgraded main hand with strong weapon damage and a slow swing speed for Sinister Strike and Riposte. Hit and Expertise help attacks connect, Agility provides Attack Power and critical-strike chance, Strength adds Attack Power, and Stamina increases Health. Agility also increases Dodge.
The axe-and-sword combination appeals to a few players looking forward to Combat's expanded weapon choices.
Weapon and quest upgrades
| Upgrade or stop | What to pursue |
| Level-10 class quest | Pick up the race-specific quest through your trainer for Blade of Cunning. |
| The Deadmines | Look for Cruel Barb from Edwin VanCleef or Thief's Blade; Alliance can combine the trip with The Defias Brotherhood quest chain for Tunic of Westfall. |
| Shadowfang Keep | The Butcher drops Butcher's Slicer and Butcher's Cleaver; Horde can combine the trip with Arugal Must Die for Seal of Sylvanas. |
| Excavation Site: Wetlands | Horde can obtain Serrated Raptor Claw through a quest inside the dungeon; Alliance can earn Subdued Dragon's Fang through Stopping the Cycle. |
| Level-20 class quest | Complete the Stealth-focused class quest for Pyrewood Signet Ring. |
| Level-30 class quest | Pursue Ruby-Adorned Blade. |
For additional armor, Wailing Caverns offers Glowing Lizardscale Cloak, Leggings of the Fang, Footpads of the Fang, Gloves of the Fang and Serpent's Shoulders. The Deadmines also offers Blackened Defias Belt.
Training, survival and downtime
Train Dual Wield and Slice and Dice at level 10, complete the lockpicking class quest at level 15, and unlock poisons through your trainer's class quest at level 20. Ambush becomes available at level 18, Vanish at level 22 and Cheap Shot at level 26.
At level 30, Coup de Grace increases Eviscerate damage against a target affected by your Deadly Poison by 2% per application. Blind comes at level 34, outside this guide's bracket.
Control enemies before they hurt you
Sap keeps you in Stealth, so use it to separate dangerous pulls before engaging. Distract turns enemies and lowers their Stealth detection as though they were one level lower for ten seconds.
Rotate Kick and Gouge to stop enemy casts; damage breaks Gouge, so avoid hitting a target you need to keep incapacitated. When an unwanted enemy follows you while traveling, turn, Gouge it and continue running to escape.
Use Evasion proactively during solo pulls to reduce damage and recovery, but consider holding it in a group for lost tank control or accidental aggro. Use Sprint during travel, and fight suitable enemies between objectives to keep earning experience while moving.
Professions and supplies
Skinning and Leatherworking supply materials and crafted leather upgrades, including early pieces with Agility and Strength. Engineering offers gadgets and utility as another option.
Train First Aid and carry bandages for quick recovery after combat; Heavy Wool Bandage is one demonstrated option. Carry food and healing potions, with Greater Healing Potions available for emergencies.
Cooking supplies buff food, including foods that increase experience earned, while Fishing helps supply Cooking and unlocks Fish Bowl. One creator demonstrated Thistle Tea restoring 100 Energy during a fight.
Keep spare poisons and refresh both weapons before their charges or duration run out. Poisons can coexist with temporary weapon enhancements, including sharpening stones, and with Windfury Totem. Rough Sharpening Stone and Elixir of Agility are useful supply options for added damage.
The Rogue and Warlock deep dive covers the broader class changes behind these poison and control updates.
Campfire buffs
Cooking lets you create a basic campfire, and profession-made additions provide shared benefits to people using the campsite. A campsite can hold three buff additions.
| Addition | Benefit and profession |
| Camp Tent | Leatherworking supplies additional rested experience, listed as 5%. |
| Camp Chair | Skinning supplies a 2% critical-strike bonus. |
| Fish Bowl | Fishing supplies an 8% increase to all stats. |
| Lodestone | Mining supplies an Attack Power bonus. |
With Skinning and Leatherworking, ask a nearby Miner to contribute Lodestone rather than changing professions for it.
Combat leveling can feel smooth with little recovery between enemies; one player described their experience this way.
So I tried combat put all my points into dodge and parry and got the other ability after parry and I never stealthed or barely had to heal between enemies.
