Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between the Torment Difficulties?

Here’s a quick breakdown of the Torment stages:

  • Torment 1: Unlocks after beating a Tier 20 Pit. You’ll lose 250 Armor and 25% of your resistances. But hey, at least Ancestral items start dropping now!
  • Torment 2: Requires a Tier 35 Pit. Your Armor is now 500 points in the negative, and your resistances are halved. Prepare to get hit hard.
  • Torment 3: Beat a Tier 50 Pit, and now it’s minus 750 Armor and 75% less resistance. Hope you enjoy the feeling of paper-thin defenses.
  • Torment 4: You must clear a Tier 65 Pit for this one, and by now, you’ve got -1000 Armor and zero resistances. Literally zero. If you’re not a glass cannon by now, you’re just glass.

So yeah, the higher you go, the less defense you have. Each enemy is more like a freight train, but the loot is worth it, right? Right…?

What is Torment Difficulty in Diablo 4?

Torment difficulty in Diablo 4 is where the real pain begins. This isn’t just “oh no, the monsters are slightly tougher” kind of pain. Everything you fight will actively try to end your career. Once you hit level 60, you’re ready to dive into The Pit, and this is where the Torment levels unlock, with each higher level being a fresh new hell of punishing debuffs. But why do it?

Because loot, my friend. Once you’re in Torment difficulty, you can start getting those sweet Ancestral items. And if you like your loot hard-earned, you’re in the right place.

So, think of Torment as the final exams of your Diablo build. You’ve spent hours leveling up, perfecting your skills, farming for decent gear, and now it’s time to see if your build can handle getting kicked in the teeth on a regular basis.

Good luck, you’ll need it. (And also maybe some armor repair money.)

How many Torment Difficulties are there in Diablo 4?

There are currently four Torment difficulties in Diablo 4, but each one feels like it’s laughing at your previous accomplishments. Oh, you thought Torment 1 was hard? Wait until you meet higher Torments.

The deeper you go into the levels of The Pit, the nastier the world becomes, and just when you think you’ve seen it all, Torment 4 arrive to ruin your day. At this point, it’s not even about beating the game anymore, it’s about showing  who’s boss.

So yeah, four Torment difficulties. Try not to die… too much.
